I missed a good melodrama and therefore I'm really enjoying this one. It’s not the greatest melodrama ever, but it has this soft, calming vibe that just works for me. Watching the ML's quiet longing and the FL’s uncertainty has actually kept me emotionally invested so far. I saw a few people saying they feel more of a friendship‑like energy in the current relationship, and honestly I get that — the pacing and everyday moments give it that texture. For me, that’s kind of the point of this genre: it’s about letting us sit with the characters’ feelings and their everyday lives, so we can slowly feel what they’re feeling. If you prefer fast, dramatic twists, well, maybe you're looking in the wrong g place. If this series feels too slow for you, maybe this genre isn’t your thing."
Maybe it's ignorance? but why are you people getting serious over A fictional series? IT'S NOT A DOCUMENTARY OR…
I think we can call it Traumatic answers.
Imagine how Koreans would feel if someone with no understanding of colonization tried to tell an “interesting” story about Japanese occupation. When our own cultural elements, the Arabic language, and religious narratives are used in that same careless way, it reminds us of every stereotype, every act of racism, and every wound left by countries that once — and still — hold power over us through their weapons. Because unlike Korea’s past under colonization, ours hasn’t ended yet. Our struggle is still ongoing.
I am asian and I have no problem with my culture being used. Every culture is more that "nightly entertainment".…
I agree. it’s not worth the outrage. But I don’t like it.
You know the cliché in American media of East Asian men being short, not very smart, not very attractive, and generally portrayed as weak or undesirable? It feels the same way for us. Southwest Asian cultures has been the object of so many cliché stories. Now this K-drama is adding another burden to that history.
We have a saying in Persian that goes, “You’ve taken a bite bigger than your mouth.” It means you’ve reached for something so big you can’t possibly chew it. Three minutes into the show, I told my friend, “This K-drama has bitten off more than it can chew. It’s trying to tell stories from our culture and it would be a failure.
And here we are. The story is such a mess, and the characters turned out so shallow that I can’t believe this is from the same writer who made Mr. Sunshine and Goblin.
I’d appreciate it if Kdrama avoided using Southwest Asian culture in the future. The American references already are bad enough.
When we talk about something we don’t understand, we’re only engaging in cultural consumption. Our cultural elements are worth more than a piece of nightly entertainment. I think that's why the people are angry about this drama.
Anyway, I think it was supposed to be an easy, entertaining one But the result was a messy storyline and messy characters. I couldn’t understand why they felt or acted the way they did. The characters were overly simple and one-dimensional, yet the show tried hard to make them seem complex — and failed.
I’d describe the actors’ performances as exaggerated, which was clearly a result of poor directing.
It's not that I'm not happy about the kiss sence, but in the novel the dual cultivation wasn't physical and I…
And So like, in the drama, from what I saw, his awareness was already kinda glitching out, and when stuff actually went down he wasn’t really super conscious. So she didn't have the full consent, you know? I know I know he would have kicked her out if he wanted but it feels like catching someone off guard and I don't know when we will getting pass from this thing.
(pls don’t come for me, I'm not criticizing this particular drama. Almost all of them are like this 👀🧘🏼🙏🏻)
It's not that I'm not happy about the kiss sence, but in the novel the dual cultivation wasn't physical and I like that better because that way it would’ve felt like both the emotional and physical closeness were being acknowledged, and I thought it would’ve looked super cool in the show... And I'd hoped the kiss sence would have its own set up 🙈 Pity 🚶🏻
Someone plz educate my confused ass but the whole dual cultivation was mostly mental right!? Like mental intimacy…
In novel the hole thing was mental and there was nothing physical. In his mind palace Fl was in a cloud shape like. Not even human. In novel the first kiss happened in this school-like place they are hiding in.
I'm on episode 5 And guys why is she sooooo childlike? I've been expecting someone like Shen Li. A great and scary woman. A respectable general! But she's like a sassy girl :(

Except that I'm not 13 anymore.
But I think I'm going to give a chance to this dram.

So It makes us angry.

a 4/10 because I missed Suzy and I was bored.
