The last 4 eps were crammed in. As well as having more ZBB Demon Lord, we could've done with another 2 eps to…
It seems like it’s all or nothing with Cdramas. I watched one (can’t remember which one, it’s been a while) where they actually gave 4 episodes of closure. Midway through those episodes I was already looking for something else to watch. They covered about 10 years just kind of glossing over stuff so it didn’t grab your attention. But I think we always deserve at least one episode of a happy ending, especially if there’s been so much angst to get there.
If you do a search for "Sort Length Series" here on MDL, it will usually show you Articles like this: https://kisskh.at/article/2024-chinese-short-length-series-worth-watching-part-1 or Lists like this: https://kisskh.at/list/1Nky9NWL (This user Wang Yibo has a lot of different lists on their profile page (https://kisskh.at/profile/Shuchismita/lists) It may Require a bit of sifting through the results, but you should find what you're looking for. Alternatively, you can use the Advance search feature (it only appears in the right hand panel AFTER you've done your initial search) and you can specify genres, themes, tags (eg. xianxia, romance, reverse harem), episodes, country, etc., to narrow down what you want.
What the heck happened in the last 5 mins? The daughter was reborn again, back to experience the original timeline when her mom died, but now it's split into a parallel timeline so her mom was still alive with her cousin, and it's seems like the daughter is still alive (since the cousin asks the mom, "Do you want to see her?"). This makes no sense. The daughter from the original timeline appears to become a good person after the cousin explains all the the mom did for her in secret, and ends up donating all her assets for cancer research. But we have no idea what happens to the daughter in the altered timeline. Did she regret it? Did she end up getting cancer like her mom? Weird ending...
At least we didn’t have to invest 40+ 60min episodes just to have that happen at the end…
Before I made an account here on MDL, there were quite few modern/historical Cdramas and Kdramas that I invested my time in, only to have them kill off one of the leads at the end or make them lose their memory (which is effectively the same thing, since it is our memories and experiences that make us who we are. Without those memories it is not the same character anymore.) To me, that is just lazy writing so they can elicit one more reaction out the audience. Most times it only serves to ruin what would otherwise be an amazing drama just because they wanted to put in one more unnecessary “twist”. It’s different if it’s something like “The King’s Woman”, where pretty much everyone gets killed off, but you fully expect it, because the entire series was like that. But, for example, to end a fluffy rom-com with a car crash or amnesia makes no sense. What was the point of the series then? The only time I don’t mind a main character dying is if it is a revenge plot and they die at the end after making everyone pay for what they did. In fact this is the reason I made a MDL account. I wanted to know spoilers and mostly refuse to watch anything that doesn’t have a happy end, unless it genuinely contributes to the storyline.
yeah, I’ve had to switch back to kdramas to see some badass FLs. Getting tired of the beating, slapping, choking,…
Sorry, haven't been able to find the exact one unfortunately. I've watched so many of these dramas in recent months. If I find it I'll reply back. Here's one where he discovers everything on his own, but it's too late because she only has a few days left to live. It's a hard watch though. 90mins of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, then 15 mins of him "investigating". "The CEO treated Cinderella as a blood bank but regretted it after Cinderella died." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgB6Or4z5r0
Yeah, I hate those so-called “misunderstandings”, when could have been cleared up if they just communicated a bit. I prefer stories with healthy relationships. Plots with unnecessary misunderstandings are as bad as those with abuse victims going back to their abuser and forgiving them.
C-dramas nowadays seem to be filled with mishandling women.
yeah, I’ve had to switch back to kdramas to see some badass FLs. Getting tired of the beating, slapping, choking, raping, causing miscarriage, etc of FL and then having them end up together at the end of the drama because ML said he was looking for her his whole life or something. Like WTF? Have some sense of pride in yourself. Only saw one where she knew that she was the one he was looking for but refused to love him and got revenge for everything he did to her (which caused her to only have months to live) and revealed everything to him on her deathbed so he would have regrets for the rest of his life. Never felt so happy to have a character die. But she stayed true to herself at least.
I wish there was a sadomasochism filter so I could eliminate it in my searches. I hate this theme. Always makes me wish the FL dies or something so he regrets his actions for the rest of his life.
On ep 5 and how did that song from the party pass review?! Didn't anyone on the committee understand the lyrics…
I literally almost died when that song came on! I was drinking my tea and sprayed it all over my monitor and started choking on it! 😫 Was not expecting that 😂😂😂
