I think the male lead’s identity reveal should have been handled differently.

"During a battle, Xie Wu is fighting the enemy general but is barely holding on. Xie Wu is sent flying and Changyu intervenes from his hitting a rock. In the heat of the moment, she shouts, "Where is the Marquis of Wu’an? Shouldn’t he be here fighting the enemy general? So many people are dying, why hasn’t he come?"

Frustrated and desperate, Xie Wu blurts out that Changyu drugged Marquis.

Which confuses Changyu, because she drugged her husband and not Marquis...

Changyu is stunned. Flashbacks flood her mind, the first time he introduced himself as Yan Zheng, their quiet moments in Lin’an, his reluctance to stay with her in Lin'an town, and last night's conversation about whether she likes him becoming a Marquis. While she’s frozen in shock, the enemy general launches an attack, realizing who she is.

Seeing the attack, Xie Wu pushes away Changyu. He fights desperately, but his injuries worsen and couldn't hold on any longer.

It hits Changyu then, that this chaos is because of her. because she drugged Marquis.

She steels her heart, steps forward, to defeat the enemy general herself."

- The reason I think this would have made the war scene more dramatic and intense is that Changyu initially joined the war merely to survive until it ended, and maybe kill few soldiers to prove her participation. But after learning the truth. the absence of Marquis is an issue she unknowingly caused, so she takes responsibility for it. Also, if Yan Zhang hadn’t been drugged, he could have fought against the other general. I just thought this version would have made things more interesting to watch.

I'm enjoying this drama, but I feel like the power levels in it are kind of inconsistent and change depending on what the writer wants to happen next, rather than what the character is capable of.

I understand the reason behind the conflict, but it felt too rushed. I know Song Mo was consumed by hatred, but since FL lived through the war, she should have had an idea of how small variables can lead to disaster. So I expected her to be more cautious. I love the drama, but I wasn’t convinced by some parts of it. Maybe I’ll feel differently after a rewatch.

Wei Yan killed the previous king. No matter what kind of king he was, killing a king is unacceptable. To protect royal honor and set things right, he has to die. Also, to the world, they may have revealed Wei Yan as the true traitor to preserve royal honor and bloom another rebellion, so he has to die.

I’m on Episode 29, and the whole conflict erupting so easily in the house after Miao An Su and Song Han’s marriage doesn’t feel right. Why are the FL’s maid and Mr. Chen adding more fuel to the fire? Is this part of some hidden plan, or is Mr. Chen just being dumb?

Also, Dou Zhao knows that in the alternate timeline, Song Mo killed both his father and brother. Given that, why isn’t she being more cautious around Song Han? From her perspective, Song Mo wouldn’t have killed his own brother without reason, so why isn’t she at least making an effort to monitor his movements? Leaving him unchecked when he’s essentially a walking time bomb seems reckless. I might be wrong but It’s like they’re willingly welcoming all the mess onto their heads… and then suffering from it.

I don't think he's supporting Qi Min and his grandfather. I believe he's waiting for a chance to stop them in a way that ensures the Li family's survival.

I think Qi Min was the architect of Yuanqing’s extreme ruthless side. Without him, Yuanqing might still have been ruthless, but at least he would have been more human.

Tutor Li believes he is outsmarting everyone in court, but he is just overestimating himself and is most likely playing right into Wei Yan, Xie Zheng and Qi min's hands.

Her entire motive for joining the war is to save people. Right after she sees Li, she treats him as a friend, he is in a near death state, and still wants to fight and even die.

Yes, she knows it’s not her choice to make, but she believes everything will be okay if she wins the war as quickly as possible. She is just a simple girl, only beginning to understand these things. She doesn’t know anything about soldier's honor or the deeper philosophies of War. All she cares about is living and keeping her people alive. Yes, her choice to knock him out is not what he wants and it's against his Will, but it reflects her character and her way of thinking. Also, this is war. It’s not about respecting one’s wishes, but about winning. He is a crucial asset to the kingdom, so removing him from battle while he is in a near death state is a calculated decision, beneficial to the well being of kingdom. Of course, Changyu didn't think about all that. She just didn't want him to die.

Peak characters, peak acting, but a mid story.

FL was great too. She is so underappreciated.

Chemistry between characters or actors doesn’t have to be romantic, even creepy vibes can count as chemistry. But most of the edits I’ve seen ship them romantically, which is a bit upsetting.

No, Changyu didn’t kiss anyone. Su Yuanqing only said that to provoke Xie Zheng.

He didn’t forcefully kiss her because he thought someone else had kissed her. For the past few days, Xie Zheng had been trying to avoid getting intimate with Changyu because he knew he had to leave and didn’t want to drag her into his mess. However, after being provoked, the thought of another man touching her or her finding someone else to love made him lose control. During that confrontation, he realized how unwilling he was to let her go or allow another man to touch her. Yes, his actions were wrong, and I’m not defending him.

Su Yuan Qing taunted Xie Zheng by saying that Fan Chang Yu’s lips tasted sweet, which clearly provoked him. Xie Zheng managed to control himself in front of Fan Chang Yu, but having to leave her and the words exchanged between them frustrated him, and he then lost control.

I have mixed feelings about this drama. Every decision Su Cheng Cheng takes to hide her secret from Tang Qi is stupid, and there are better ways to handle it without needing to spend so much money and effort staging acts again and again. But if the FL chose a logical and better way to do things, then the show wouldn’t be as hilarious and funny as it is. So I’m honestly hanging between loving it and hating it.
