Can somebody clarify that flashback we see at MengKe House in ep 2?

Did the magistrate already know the female lead when her friend went to him for help?
- I thought they didn’t know each other then but it doesn’t feel like that was their initial meeting. Also when the Madam was talking to the mysterious person and the person mentioned how if only she had watched the female lead closer then she wouldn’t have been connected to the authorities. The authorities seem to be referring to the magistrate which means the female lead knows him. There is also definitely something going on with them trying to sell her off to someone behind the scenes.

Did they already have a plan with the magistrate to disguise themself to assist with the temple case prior to her escape and the day she was to be sold off was the same day for the plan which explains the beginning of ep 1 after she left MengKe House?
- They don’t seem to explain how the female lead and the magistrate first met clearly and how it led to her being involved with the investigation.

The other song 还是好爱你 -Still Really Love You is Kui Mu Lang describing his deep love/yearning for Qi Pa when she found out the truth and left him. At that point he was so heartbroken and doesn't even care about the pearl anymore -he just wants to be with her so badly and wholeheartedly.

The regret mentioned in the lyrics seems to be his decision to finally let her go back home -he thinks that only by letting her go will she be happy and doesn’t want to hurt her anymore after having lied to her all along, meanwhile he is suffering on the inside (he chooses to sacrifice alone but does not know that she is also not happy and ends up deciding to go back to him)
Or maybe it could also be referring to the pearl in a way -he is choosing not to retrieve it anymore, in other words giving up his life for her once again. What do you think?

I find this song to be really touching as well and I like it even more after connecting the dots 🥲. It seems that out of all the songs in the OST, we have more (3-4) that are expressed from the male lead’s perspective/feelings.

Yes I was surprised by her voice. She has a really sweet voice when she sings and it complements the song well. I knew she was a singer but have not actually heard her sing before 😅, it is really good!

So I took a closer look at the other few songs of the OST and found some more interesting connections once again 😅🥺

The song 小小心愿 -Little Wish appears to be Qi Pa describing/highlighting Li Xiong's features (part of it is emphasizing/falling for his handsome appearance -it's funny how I'm reminded of when she first met him and made that comment about his body 😆) and saying how he is like the only light/happiness to her life and wants to be with him forever during the time in beast city where she feels trapped with Kui Mu Lang

I enjoyed that one although it had a bitter sweet ending but at least the leads still ended up together in a different way after going through four lives (the rating on mydramalist is always fluctuating). I still remember how that twist near the end with the facade of the immortal of fate guy was quite unexpected when they portrayed him as the "nice" friend all along 🤦‍♀️

Look at what this drama has done to us 😅! The OST is so brainwashing that we cannot stop listening to them -every song in the OST is just as great but the opening and ending songs remain to be the most impactful!

Ah it's that song, it seems to be narrating from Li Xiong's perspective of how he is slowly falling for her and if only he can spend time with her in the same way he does during the day at night as Kui Mu Lang -but at that time she doesn't like to be close to Kui Mu Lang, it describes his internal struggles really well...those phrases

The new drama kind of reminds me of Miss the Dragon where they have to go through many lives but Love You Seven Times will be seven and that seems to be too many. I will probably wait that one out first and then decide if I want to watch it after.
For some reason they seem to have been releasing so many historical fantasy dramas one after the other 😅

Ah the song is by Liu Yu Ning - he indeed has many osts for dramas. It is expressive but after watching The Princess and the Werewolf, I don't think any OST can surpass it with those emotive lyrics and background music 💖💖💖 (I can't stress that enough!!!)
The instrumental really suits the historical genre if you have noticed -I think I hear the guzheng/chinese zither (it is like plucking sounds with long drags) which is likely the main element for that effect, it may help to just listen to the instrumental version and you will hear it

It is most definitely because of actor popularity 😐. Xuan Yi and Zhe Yuan are primarily considered newer actors so not too many people will choose to watch this drama -I do wish that this one had a higher viewership since they deserve it but the final ranking of this is at top 19 out of 30 dramas on the list according to this one China data site:

If you were to take Hidden Love and compare it to this one, the reason why that one became explosive is due to the fact that Lu Si is pretty popular and many liked the chemistry between her and Zhe Yuan there (aside from the chemistry, the storyline was actually fairly simple) vs here with Xuan Yi (I do feel that Zhe Yuan is better in this one since he is technically playing two different roles which is a lot harder than just one role).

Previous hit dramas such as Who Rules the World (Yang Yang and Lu Si), The Oath of Love (Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi), You Are My Glory (Yang Yang and Dilireba) all follow the same pattern with actor popularity being the main factor of influence.
So the takeaway is that popular actors will continue to be in that realm while less popular actors will have to work harder and depend on luck with a good script to achieve high results.

But anyways at least we and a group of others enjoyed this one so the crew still made achievements with the end result 🤗

I don't think I can forget about the OST now that the drama is officially over! It was so perfect and touching 🥺🥺🥺

That last episode was so satisfying 😍❤️❤️! I am so glad they did not disappoint. We rarely get almost like one full episode of sweet happiness at the end since most dramas tend to only show a happy ending in the last few minutes of the last episode.

I will be missing this a lot!!!

Oh well...it seems like the heat index will not be able to surpass 7500 anymore -that means we won't be able to see either Xuan Yi or Zhe Yuan sing and dance to a boy/girl group cover 🥺

Unless this last episode comes with a surprise that will turn things around but the chances are very slim at the moment -the drama's rating/ranking is still pretty decent and not high when compared to the popular ones that topped the list

So much happened from these two episodes and it's the final battle. Before she was the one who took out the poison for him when he was injured and this time he took out the poison for her -such unconditional love, they are willing to sacrifice their lives for each other 🥺

Seems like that true love kiss will be the crucial point to save the day and we will finally get the long awaited happy ending!

Exactly, she does not want to admit her feelings upfront so we see her with her scheming antics once again and they never disappoint 😆
She purposely tried to fall and didn't give him a gift when she returned, all for trying to make Kui Mu Lang come to her first

She is saying that she wants to go back to Beast City because she misses everyone (starts naming off almost everyone except him) and he happily said he will bring her back to her hometown whenever she wants to go again. Then he saw how she was already packed/prepared and said you brought so many things with you -her response was it's none of your business 😂

Actually I think we will see that scene from the video where she pulls off his veil and kisses him without any second thoughts very soon! I have a feeling it will be when she goes back after realizing how much she really loves him 😍

They definitely made him into a very handsome beast with the makeup, you won't find a beast that looks like that anywhere haha.

Something that always bothers me is the fact that there are a lot of people who don't even watch the drama at all and just judge based on the actors which leads to a drama being downrated or overrated.

Take the more popular actors as an example -most of their dramas are highly rated/ranked but how many of those are actually as outstanding as the data shows?
The storyline can just be mediocre with the acting being decent so the majority is due to the actor's popularity that becomes a contributing factor to the high data. If you say maybe 1 or 2 is exceptional then it sounds logical but technically it's not possible for almost every single one to top the charts.
Then you have the actors who are not so well known that do really well with a pretty good storyline but their drama does not exceed as high as it should have.

Honestly it is unfair but unfortunately that is how it is. I do however feel that the more popular actors often have their acting stagnated since there is a tendency to be type-casted into a lot of the same roles/genres. They would keep reprising similar characters and don't have the chance to try out other roles.

But anyways I think these last few episodes will not disappoint and should have a beautiful ending 🤩

I wonder if the heat index can go past 7500🔥 - it seemed to stop there during the middle episodes and I remember how each of the actors posted that they would do one thing each if the index reaches a certain amount (7500, 8000, 9000, &10000)
***At 10000, Zhe Yuan will sing and dance to a girl group cover!!!

I’m sure we will get more scenes of them together and not just in the last episode. Based on the calendar it looks like they will have a proper wedding on the episodes for the 8th next week -that red wedding symbol 😍😍😍 can’t wait!!!

I don’t know if you watched the behind the scenes but it takes like hours for the makeup to be done
