Seems this drama may never air. Atp they should just sell it to netflix or film it again

Title Hero Legends
Bailing? you mean billing? The cast hasn't been officially announced yet but I doubt she'll be even second billing…
Oh wow another loss for me😣

Hmmm....finally getting down to give my thoughts and the story was lackluster. If it wasn't marketed as a prequel to BOY I would not have watched it at all. On a positive note, I found some actors who I look forward to seeing in future projects like the actor that played lei mengsha, prince langya, and the old master.

I guess it's safe to say this drama won't be airing anytime soon😪 They got their wish.
Wait...what do you mean? Wasn't this scheduled for May?

So basically: the fans in these fandoms have major mental issues, and they are given way too much power over Cn…
I think you are an idealistic person because the unfortunate part of being a celebrity or public figure anywhere is that your private life unfortunately becomes public business if exposed. Anyway that is also not my debate cuz we can talk about that for hours on hours.

I am just going to get to the facts here: the man had a high-profile cheating scandal and something about virgins??! The man had to apologize and was dropped out from his endorsement and work. These are what we know so far at the base level. Based on this he is a high risk actor in China which means that this drama might be negatively affected (I mean it already has) and could be shelved.

Realistically speaking, and for lack of better words, he is a ticking time bomb, and it is better to diffuse the situation now than for it to become a bigger issue because atp it won't just be fans talking it will be the gp and on the worst end even the ccp.

Again, I am going to say this explicitly. Good that he is looking for a comeback but if his comeback is happening at the cost of other peoples career and hardwork then this is complete selfishness and bs. That has been my angle. Making a comeback means rebuilding and starting small.

I don't care about that man's past, and I really don't want to look into it. My only take on this has been that he can have a second chance, but if that chance negatively affects other people, rethink your strategy. That's all.

I get you..you think that his personal life should have no effect on his professional life, but that is not the conversation right now, and we could talk about that. The conversation right now is past that level because his personal life is already causing negativity to the drama, so how should we fix it?

@starkitty I think you said what I think in an articulate manner. It doesn't matter whatever his personal life is its that there has been a precedent as I said earlier on with dramas being shelved due to stuff hollywood celebs do regularly. At the end of the day the fans are just looking to minimize the risks and negativity associated with the drama.

Celebrity culture, the influence they wield, the high moral ground that they are placed on, accountability politics, fan culture in Asia, the industry itself, cancel culture, the government role in all this, etc. I mean, we could talk about this for days.

Fans are unhinged, and I normally stay away from fandoms and their bs but in this case I get where they are coming from. This man is problematic its not the west so I can't use the western lens on this. The man knows that he is a high risk actor and there is a possibility of the drama being shelved and buried in controversy because of him then why risk it? Starting small if he is truly innocent and clearing his name should be his focal point. Again, understanding your market and how they move should be common sense.

If this were the West, I wouldn't bat an eye. After all, if he is just a cheater, he won't be the first or last, but again, the man lives in China, so he knows how it rolls over there.

At the end of the day, the ones who get the short end of the stick are the actors and crew who would have to deal with the negativity should things go south. If he is truly clean, then he should start small, sue for defamation, and clear his name.

Even if Cheng Yi fans keeps quiet, someone else among the gp or antis will still bring up this issue. He works in a low-tolerance industry, so it is what it is. If someone could guarantee that his work on the team will not bring any negativity or cause the drama to be buried, then I don't think people would have that much of a problem with him.

I agree with you that people's personal lives are their business, but even in the West, if your personal life interferes with your work and could possibly bring negativity to your company, they cut you off or ask you to fix it.

I believe in second chances unless they committed a heinous crime like rape, pedophilia, etc The man just need to start from the bottom and slowly climb up imo.

It was all a lie WTF??! Just found out Cheng Yi did not actually accept this role but Youku just announced him as a ml even though there was no agreement??? Is that even allowed or legal...? So many questions but no answers

Is it really down to crazy fans though? I have dramas on my watchlist that will never see the light due to problematic actors. I was agreeing with you but your take is a bit too westernized and lack nuances lol. Yup fans are unhinged but in this case its better to be safe than sorry. If the man is clean he should publicly clear his name and start small.

If this was Hollywood, I would be like yeah, nobody gives a f***, but this is China, and they do give a sh*t. Having this drama possibly buried and his fellow actors and crew members' hard work wasted and negatively impacted is just very selfish, especially knowing how C-ent works.

People normally complain that cancel culture is not real but in China its very much real and those folks don't play. I just recently got into c-dramas due to a friend and the amount of dramas I would have loved to watch but found out through the comment section that it was shelved due to stuff hollywood celebs do on a regular basis is crazy but thats just the way things move over there so again I get why the fans move the way they do.

Anyway, I don't know who hjj is and honestly don't care to know more about him or his scandal but as a Chinese actor he knows exactly what his people and culture are like so he should clear his name instead of sneakingly trying to make a comeback and expecting everyone to forget and accept him.

✌️
