Our male lead intentionally renouncing his very powerful 'adopted' identity and giving no name for himself—except…
Whoa, thank you so much for this context! I thought that scene was just sooo beautifully acted and written, and so moving, and this only makes it moreso.
IMO, PDJ is not only a bad guy, he is the absolute worst villain of this show. At least the psycho-killer has…
Did you know that trauma in childhood actually changes the structure and makeup of the brain? And that childhood trauma causes serious mental illness? So, what I'm saying is, you're very wrong, your distinction doesn't have any backing scientifically or psychologically, and you should maybe do some research to educate yourself before saying nonsense like this as if you have some greater understanding of morality and the human psyche, which you clearly don't.
It's gotta be #2, because it's been mentioned now multiple times (including even in the first episode, I think) that the son is nothing like the Chairman, but fake BSE is the spitting image in looks and traits/talents. I think the son was the child of infidelity on the chairman's wife's part, or maybe was adopted when the chairman's wife couldn't have kids. Then grandpa had an affair late in life, maybe when his "son" turned out to be a disappointment, and sired Fake BSE.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but here we go..... I feel bad for PDJ. The poor man set out to seek revenge…
I don't hate him at all and feel a lot of sympathy for him, I don't get why people act like he's even remotely on the same level as OG BSE or any of the others in that family-- do jae was an orphan who had his soulmate/other half/only family taken from him by a rich boy whose family covered it up, who suffered ZERO consequences. The amount of rage that must have given him, I'm amazed he didn't turn out even worse. And he was playing a long game, he didn't just go up to BSE and stab him or something, he was trying to make a thoughtful and calculated revenge. And also he clearly did not want hee-jo to actually get killed, or anyone else, and showed remorse and anger when OG BSE took things too far, and even came to care for BSE despite everything.
But he did put a lot of people in harm's way, so he has to suffer consequences for that, of course. But I'm with BSE, tho, that the OG BSE is the one who has done all of this. I woudl actually go further and say Grandpa is the real evil one here. He could very easily have put OG BSE in a mental institution when he first showed signs of being a sociopath, but didn't want the stain on his family, so instead covered up multiple murders and then tried to murder him. like that man caused ALL of this.
I legit thought they must have gotten an actor who had a real stutter/tic to play the role because I was so convinced. He is nailing it without going overboard. I hate his character but I love scenes with him cause he's such a good actor
I felt the show had kinda slowed down a bit last week but def picked back up this week--ep 10 esp was really good. Seeing the cracks brought about by evil grandpa start to explode really added to the excitement and tension of the episodes.
I still love the main couple, but even more I found I really enjoyed the complex connections between all the other characters-- Sa-eon and Do Jae's whole story and that scene about trust was really touching, Sa-eon and Sang-u finding understanding between them, the slow burn romance between Yuri and Sang-u, Sang-u and Do-Jae finding closure about the murders, and even the mother's reactions and dedication to OG Sa-eon I found to be really poignant and human, even if he is barely human himself.
Looking forward to everything wrapping up next week!
I don't really like crime dramas but everyone has said it's a show that's so much more than the genre so I wanted to check it out, but even after ep two I can't get that into it because I'm just not into thriller/crime -- should I keep watching? Will it click eventually?
This better be good with that cast I really hope the story is good because many times when the cast are big actors…
This writer can write really fun and funny scenes and characters, but has struggled with the overall plot and character arcs. Expect to be entertained but for it to get real messy in the second half.
