Too many story arcs in this drama. It should have stayed with the reclaiming of Chu, the palace drama in Shu, and the lovesick emperor in Han. The added storyline of the Chu's fallen crown prince's need to reclaim his kingdom and his obsession with the princess of Han who's obsessed with Qiyou, was too much. It went on for too long.; and Ma Fuya cried so many times, I had to fast forward all her crying scenes.. She's strong and smart when it comes to standing up to the empress of Shu, the Consort of Chu, the princess and empress dowager of Han, but is always lacking her wits when it comes to Qiyou and their situation. I had high hopes for it, but it was lacking in everything.
I am almost done watching this. The acting and the ost are good but i didnt really like the storyline or production.…
He was poisoned so of course, he's not as strong. When he wasn't poisoned, it was clear he had strong martial arts - remember how strong he was when he took the needled to help Fei at the Fortress - it was only one move. All the female roles - Li Yan, Chu Chu, Li Jin Rong, Duan Ju Niang, Madam Ni Chang - were strong characters that represented females in a positive way. There's a tendency to portray women in romances and in Wuxia or Xianxia genres as always needing to be saved or being flighty, e.g. Ma Zhai Xing in The Wolf - so this is a refreshing series.
Even in a fantasy drama there should be some logic and common sense. The writer used easily avoided misunderstands…
That's exactly it. She had a great beginning solving the mystery of who killed the official...but the tantrums, constant crying was definitely cringe-worthy.
How is the romance in this one?its not the main point is it?i really wanna watch this drama everyone says its…
Agree with Maknae on this - it's a small subplot of the story but it takes a backseat. I'm almost not sure why Lin Wan'er is a main character. The storyline is definitely worth watching - it isn't like the other series I've seen.
I feel you. I made it farther than you did, and I could have done with about half as many episodes of watching…
Yes. I feel the same. It was not the character development I was looking to see. And even at the end, when she finally does grow, it was too little too late.

The worst part for me - was they started out portraying MZX as a brave, intelligent, curious woman - that she had no problem addressing men no matter their station, and she ended up being submissive to them the majority of the series. I mean - she was even the general of her own army, but she let other people command them and took a back seat.
I'm half-way through episode 32 and seriously considering dropping it here. I've read some spoilers about how…
Actually I wanted someone to punch her more than him. Lol. I would say - you're already invested, and are more than halfway through, you might as well finish it. Besides, I will say the last two episodes, gives it a bit of a turn, even though you may already know the outcome. But yeah- I felt the same way.
Bo Wang is on the mountain and looking at a butterfly. I thought the voiceover meant that after MZX died Bo Wang…
I understood it as he likely disappeared to Wolf Mountain with her body, and remained there until his death. I agree with @totally_absurd that it was them in the afterlife.
Agree 100%. I had to fast forward their scenes because it was driving me nuts!
His storyline is the only reason I continued to watch i - and even then, his ending wasn't as satisfying, as it could have been. Bo & MZX continue to have similar actions throughout the entire series.
Bless you for writing this review! It's like my thoughts, verbatim! Everyone's fawning over poor wolfie this and…
Lol. Thanks! I wrote this literally after I watched the last episode. I agree with you about Darren's portrayal - it was awkward, but more awkward as Wolf Boy than Lord Bo. At least Lord Bo you can somewhat understand but if felt contrived, maybe that's the better word for his acting?
About Ji Chong's ending - for me it was more about he got to be himself again. He wasn't happy at all about being back in politics and the whole royalty issue. Yeah - Bao Na, wouldn't have been my choice at all, because I still felt like she was a little girl, and honestly - I'm sure her brother wouldn't have let her leave like that to roam the world. But it's like I said, he deserved way better than Ma Zhai Xing.

I look forward to reading your review. :)
