The romance is really good. Those who said they find it too slow don't understand how mature love is. It might be boring to some but it's heartwarming. Who in their right mind would prefer a cheating or asshole love interest over Lu Chen. 😂

After the divorce of her parents, they were thrown out in the streets. And sadly her mom got sick. That's why she's really close with her doctor friend (the one she's with in the airport when Lu Chen came) because his father is the one who treats her mother. She also works part time during her college days. One of her job is advertising MXS restaurant.

I don' t consider it passive when he openly walks out with Gui Xiao when his father arrives or when he turn down his mom's invitation for dinner because he knows his girl is not comfortable. What do you expect him to do to his parents? Beat them? He already made it clear his not following their wish by turning down the arranged marriage.

Not this couple. If you read the novel you will respect both of them for standing up against their parents. Lu Chen doesn't even like Gui Xiao to have the same air to breathe with his parents. For him Gui Xiao is his priority over his family. And Gui Xiao is not taking any non sense from her father.

MDL ratings are actually not a good basis on checking what is a good drama because 90% of the time the one that has good rating is the one that has a star with a big Fandom. And let's admit it Seven don't have the crazy Fandom that traffic stars
has. Which I think is good because by the time she decides to have a family there would be no big protest against it.

We can't blame them. I'm just happy Songyun and Jing Boran are owning the character. I just love the mature love story now that I'm older and wiser. 😉

Some people wants angsty dramatic love story. But road home is a mature love story so they find it boring. And many people wonder why their relationship is not working. 😂

LC family actually has money. But his father is the only one who has the access to it. And he is actually bad in managing it. Because from what I remember in the novel their shop almost got bankrupt but MXS family and the money he got from ZM family helps him get more customers and made the shop bigger. But since his father is selfish LC has to pay the debt instead of his father just paying it using the shop's income.

They are actually not related by blood. Meng just had a liking of GX when they were young. She took her in as a baby sister. They call each other sister like how some people call their closest friend. MEng's family is actually rich while GX came from military family.

She actually also tries to see him often by walking outside his classroom all the time. Then he would throw chalk at her 😂

Their feelings are mutual.

Well you have to look at both sides. LYC is actually glad CX chose to let go because he thinks if she was honest with him back then he might have just quit the military and just chose to stay by her side. Novel actually wants to show that love for the country should be above romantic love.

In the novel LYC actually tried to fix it but CX did not talk to him. One of my fave part of the novel is when Lu Chen went back to Beijing to beg CX but she did not even open the door. LC spend the night in the train station and he said that's the only time he remembers that he cried.
