Does anyone know if Viki will buy the license of this drama?
Doubtful. iQIYI exclusives/originals usually just stay in iQIYI. Other platforms (like WeTV and Youku) let others pick up their titles simultaneously or later on at least, but iQIYI maintians some of their dramas exclusively.
I finished watching the series... will rewatch again later but a question for everyone... when exactly did you…
For ML, the first clear indication is in ep 5 when he’s in the carriage and FL is walking beside it, he was curious about her and asking pointed questions about Shen Qi. There was respect before this (when they met for her books in ep 4) and a hint of protectiveness (he uses scammer guy as his “sparring partner”) but only in ep 5 it shows him asking more personal questions. Ep 8 shows him concerned when he hears the report of FL and Shen Qi “crying over” their broken engagement. And by ep 9 he’s hanging around her cart all the time and helping her with their sales. And he teases her by toppling her cat mask even without her knowing who it is.
finished ep4 and don't see(yet?) why the rating is so high, when does it get better ? first time watching the…
Give it a few more episodes, maybe until 7 or 8. If you still don’t see the appeal then, that means it’s not your type drama :)
The high rating is because of show’s consistency with the characters (their actions), well-paced storytelling, and the OTP. Basically if you like flashier, plot-heavy politics, lots of misunderstandings etc this might not be for you.
Okay, two episodes and I really don't know whether should I continue or not. The acting is really off for me.…
Give it a few more episodes. For me, I wasn’t full onboard until episode 4. For others, I think until episode 7? This is my first time encountering the ML and I wasn’t excited with him initially. He grew on me by the later episodes and can differentiate between his expressions afterwards (soft look for FL and his sister, stern look for others, etc.). Not the best actor but not bad as well.
I'm on episode 14 and I'm confused. How did HZ knows GYX's last name was Gu? She was calling him Mr Gu. I thought…
I think those are errors/sloppy translation. I saw the coachman “call” him Mr. Gu in the subs as well. Then it got corrected later on. As of episode 14, HZ and the people around her do not know that Yanxi is a Gu.
The childhood connection is not romantic though. ML thinks child FL is a boy. And because of this memory, he goes…
I just summarized it that’s why it seemed to skip on the beginning :) Yes, he got to know her more as a masked man but he never specifically sought her out (without his mask) until what happened in episode 7. And since then he’s always been in her vicinity. So I’m now okay with the childhood connection trope (since it isn’t romantic). And it got our leads to where we want them to be.
it was going good until they brought childhood connection ..
The childhood connection is not romantic though. ML thinks child FL is a boy. And because of this memory, he goes to find Minister Hua himself. And “sees” FL get punished. And so he decides to find her and show himself without his mask. It’s the catalyst for their relationship.
For those who have read the novel AND watched the drama, can you please tell me the major differences please (hide…
I know that the scale is simplified/localized (emperor versus head of a powerful family), if you can expound and list other details, that will be great. Thank you!
Oh man... did they really had to go so far with LTG? I love this drama, but his arc is kinda the only flaw imo.…
I think they’ll settle it in the next two episodes (based on the trailers). I don’t mind him going crazy for now, I think they’re setting up NYZ’s face-off/disciplining of him.
I liked him in The Long Ballad. The first time I saw him in a drama and I have kept track of his dramas since…
I think Leo Wu, because he started as a child actor and is respected for his acting skills, is not considered technically as a traffic star (although he’s in the same age group).
As for The Long Ballad, it suffers from a badly adapted script. I remember finding a few action scenes quite breathtaking BUT it suffers from inconsistent characterization. I read the manga and it was consistent. The problem is the script (and the fact that the manga’s author is in a dispute with the publisher who sold the rights for it to be adapted).
I think the "variety" show House on Wheels (all four seasons but I especially liked the guests in the first and second) is a good contender for this. They choose the nicest, most scenic spots and prepare yummy foods from local ingredients.

Also did the changes make you root for a different endgame ML for her?
me the trailers even with vpn, turns out web link works :)
