One of the big problems with ML actors in C-Dramas is that they are not very good actors and they always use this rigid way to disguise their lack of competence (even if that is the main characteristic of the character). Since there are so many good-looking Chinese actors (the main requirement for being an actor :-) ) and good at what they do, there is no need to keep actors who have no vocation for acting and often only manage to be average after many years.
