imo the "romance" is the worst part of this drama because of the fl. Episode 35 was something else. I…
Yes, the romance part is the worst. Instead of seeing mutual love between the two leads, it feels like only one-sided from the ML. The FL is like riding on two boats and loves no one. This story would be better to just let the two leads shine on their own in the workplace.
Up to now I see no love from the FL towards the ML, I couldn’t see any convincing emotion in her eyes when she…
Yup I feel the same way too. And then when she’s with Tan at the bar, her emotion & actions are like she’s flirting with him….flipping her hair as if she's trying to seduce him, feels happy when he praises her beauty, etc, with no restraint at all. She made me feel like she actually loves Tan more than the ML. I think this actress is better at performing flirting/seductive roles instead of devoted ones. She’s very beautiful no doubt but her acting is still lacking.
5.4 doubanhttps://movie.douban.com/subject/36449637/Also, not sure why douban has episode count as 40?
Douban is not reliable anymore. When it first scored 5.4 two days ago, only 8,000+ people have rated it. Compared to Tencent the score there is 9.1 with about 367,000 people rated. Heard that Douban is prone to haters, anti-fans or paid troops, so normal audiences or fans don’t really like going there to rate.
I totally disagree. Miyu appreciates Tan jr.'s care and attention, but the way she looks at Ji Feng is a whole…
Agree with what you said. Actually Mr Tan gives me some kind of creepy feeling, like he is too obsessed with Miyu and would use any manipulative tactic to make her be with him. Whereas Ji Feng guides her, respects her and wants her to be her true self.
I also get frustrated with Miyu. I don't think she's fit for a management role. Until now she doesn't know how to set boundaries or be firm with her subordinates, letting them walk all over her again.
The most frustrating part is her being drunk and sleeping in a guest’s room, yet still having the audacity to say that she wasn't doing it during working hours and she doesn’t care how others look at her. But hello girl? You were wearing the hotel’s uniform while being drunk and carried by a male guest into his room! Remember what Ji Feng told you, you are the front lobby manager and you represent the hotel's image 🤦🏻♀️.
I have a different opinion. I find that the ML character written very well. The ML personality isn't the domineering…
You are right, I am also on wb & dy and basically nobody ship FL with the 2ML because in this drama the 2ML is actually the ex-hubby, who’s gonna ship her back with that jerk ex-hubby. If talking about shipping her with her so-called admirer Tan Jr or whatever his name is I can’t even remember, is even weirder. This guy existence is like next to nothing, so far after so many episodes only a few clips of him. Do you think those who truly watch this drama will wanna ship them? Hahaha I don’t think so. Only those who probably watched a few clips posted online without watching the real drama would.
Same!! The workplace plot is so realistic yet sprinkled with just enough drama, I do wonder if they can sustain…
I do hope the workplace plots continue to stay engaging and I believe later on they are going to show us more romance plots between the leads. Maybe 38 episodes feel a bit long, but we’ll see how it goes.
lol, I thought about it too…. And wondered wot I would have done in that situation at work as a senior manager….…
I think explaining that in front of the big client isn’t ideal, it will only make the client think that there is some kind of internal disharmony among the staff and would definitely leave a poor impression.
FL is getting on my nerves, too naive and as what ML described her she is such a people pleaser. ML is trying to help her grow stronger by repeatedly telling her to improve her own skills and not to please others so much, but now she has been promoted to supervisor, has to manage staff below her, she’s still the same. Those staff are not obeying her at all 🤦🏻♀️
Somehow I find that the FL’s makeup doesn’t match with her current character plot. A homeless cleaning lady wouldn't be wearing full makeup and bold lipstick every day 😂
What was the ending? Happy? What happened to the lives of fl ml...i stopped watching at epi8 so just wanted to…
FL went to teach ballet on the Tibetan plateau (the place where her father stayed before) as a fulfillment of her late father's wishes. After one year, ML and Lele went to look for her, and then they lived happily together (lived happily together can be found in the Easter egg episode)
Finally finished watching the whole drama. These are my views and perspectives of the drama.
It’s a slice-of-life urban drama, focus on family and work challenges, minimal romance or idol elements. Characters are middle-aged, mature and non-impulsive. The plot is non-melodramatic, no catfights, no revenge. It focuses on healing and family warmth over revenge. The pacing is a little slow, requires a little patience and observation to fully appreciate it.
What I particularly like in this drama is how the male lead raised his son. He didn't always give direct answers or solutions to him when he was having doubts, he wanted the child to learn to observe and trust his own judgment rather than just listening to others. That's why, despite being only 12 years old, his son was so sensible, mature and empathetic. The communication between the male lead and his son was all about gentle guidance, not forced commands.
I also like how down to earth this drama is, no overly clingy emotions. The male and female leads didn’t act impulsively, nor did they express themselves in exaggerated ways like in many dramas. It vividly portrayed how mature adults should thoughtfully or harmoniously handle the people, situations and emotions in their lives.
If you watch it purely as a romance or idol drama or maybe expecting some satisfying revenge plots, you will be disappointed. So watch it as a realistic mature life struggles drama, then you will appreciate it. In reality you don't need to seek revenge for every injustice you encounter. True strength lies in the choice to let go of your grievances and find your own peace. So overall it’s a good watch for me.
I think the Genre is wrong for this drama. It would be better to remove the romance from its Genre.
This drama is a slice of life urban drama not a romance drama, I have mentioned before in the comment section that most of us might be confused by the English title given here. I don’t know who provided this English title or the genre. If the title is translated directly from its original Chinese title, it should be called ‘City of Dance'.

I'm really enjoying the workplace storylines.
