Oh no, it’s not good……just went in the Chinese social media and saw the latest hot news that the FL has been OFFICIALLY banned now! So there's no hope of broadcasting any dramas related to her anymore. Urgh….what a waste! I really wanted to watch Wallace’s drama!
A few days ago it has been rumoured (again) that it has passed the 3rd review with another reduction of episodes.
From the original 36 episodes to 33, then 32, and now to 30. Hope this will be the final one. If it keeps on cutting episodes like that, I am afraid the flow of the whole story might be affected or the ending might be too rushed.
Show me where that is in the drama itself or a BTS scene that was an accidental move.
I watched this drama on a Chinese channel. It has come out with almost all the episodes. The grabbing part is only one of the reasons why I dropped this drama. As mentioned in my earlier comments, the plots, actions, and dialogues all contributed to the reasons why I dislike this drama. Anyway, everyone is free to express how they feel about the dramas that they have watched. There is no right or wrong about it. It's all up to a person’s perspective, opinion, or maybe culture.
i don't known about his real life experience, and i didn't take his postition but OK but what about the others…
I will not compare a woman’s chest with a man’s chest. A woman’s breasts are considered private parts, but a man’s breasts are not. That’s why a man can go topless in public but a woman can’t. Whether it is a man touching a woman or vice versa, if they are not touching the private parts inappropriately, I have no gross feelings about it. Anyway, you can have a different perspective or opinion about it or about the drama, I will respect that.
I have to drop this drama halfway. The plots were outdated, and their actions and dialogues simply degraded women. That’s why most of the Chinese viewers gave such low ratings. If you know Chinese language, you will understand better. I don’t think the English translations could really capture 100% of the actual meaning of their dialogues. If the setting of this drama is in ancient times, perhaps it’s acceptable because degrading women was the norm back then. But this drama is set in modern times, so degrading women is a big NO. That part of grabbing the female lead's breasts was the last straw for me to drop this drama. There were so many ways for him to pull or grab her at that moment and could probably make us viewers feel romantic, but he chose to grab her breasts so directly, which made us feel gross. Now a lot of viewers are questioning his real intention or maybe that’s his real behaviour 🤷🏻♀️.
This drama focused mainly on love story plots, very little on battlefield actions. It has a high ambitious & possessive male lead. High ambitious because he was a young military chief commander (warlord) during those difficult civil war times in China (and then followed by the war against Japanese), he wanted to unite all military territories/provinces in order to stop the civil wars & end the sufferings of the nation. Possessive because he thought loving the female lead was to possess her & kept her by his side only and wouldn’t want to let her go (towards the end he managed to change this kind of selfish thought and understand what love is all about).
The male lead also did not have a perfectly faithful character because when he was forced to choose between his love for the female lead & the nation, he chose the nation instead of female lead. He married another woman because of that. This is the part where some viewers didn’t like it or even stopped watching because they said this was very unfair to the female lead. But if you put yourselves in the male lead’s shoes, you will actually understand he has no choice but to do that because he was in a life & death war battle at that time & most importantly he has his high ambition to achieve (i.e. to free the nation from wars & sufferings). Normally most viewers prefer 100% faithful & perfectly good male leads who can sacrifice everything just for the female leads, but here the male lead was a little of the opposite.
For me I enjoyed this drama very much because sometimes I do like not so perfect male or female leads, this kind of characters are more realistic. I gave high rating because of the intense love & great chemistry between the leads. I agree with those saying that whenever the two leads were together or when they were kissing (even though some were force kisses) you could see sparkles everywhere. Their kisses were so real. They portrayed their characters very well & their acting skills were superb throughout the drama.
This drama has a happy ending but I felt that very last ending part was a bit unrealistic & forceful (those who have watched it will understand what I mean). I heard this drama was quite different from the original novel, in the novel their love story was even more cruel or tearjerker and has a bad ending.
The most handsome Qiao Feng of the 3 versions I have seen (1997, 2003 & 2013). Even though 1997 version Qiao Feng was also quite handsome, for me he was still a little less than Wallace here. As for Duan Yu, 2003 one (Jimmy Lin) was better looking than this Korean guy here. Xu Zhu I have no comment as I didn’t really pay much attention to this character for all the versions 😛. As for the pacing, directing, martial arts & etc, a lot of people said the 1997 & 2003 versions were better, but I still prefer this version because those two older versions were really quite old, and in term of style or etc it seems outdated & a little uncomfortable to watch now in the 2020s. The most recent 2021 version I don’t feel like watching it anymore because I am getting bored after watching too many versions of the same storyline again & again.
I like this drama. It is fast-paced & action-packed. Wallace performed 2 roles here & of course his performances were top-notch. It involves political & military conspiracies during the 1930s in China. It might be confusing at the beginning because it has so many different parties (govt, communists & Japanese) & there were 2 Wallace, so it’s normal to feel lost in the first few episodes, but as you continue you will eventually understand what’s happening & get hooked. I enjoyed it.
A good & exciting battlefield war drama with the right amount of romance. Strong male & female lead characters. It’s just that it doesn’t have Eng/multi sub, or else it can be enjoyed by many international viewers
After Vicky heard the conversation between SML & ML in the office she still decided to marry him because she wanted to prove to herself & see she can loves a man that doesn’t really love her that much. I think later she found out that she couldn’t accept such a man, that’s why she decided to leave him.
Everything was perfect, casting, acting, directing and cinematography. But the script is way too bloody. They…
I guess those things that you mentioned are from the novel right? It’s not unusual for drama to change some elements from the book. Some of the dramas even changed the endings of the books from BE to HE. I didn’t read the novel so I have nothing to compare, thus I have no disappointment
Love the ending. This is one of the best dramas I have ever watched. The casting, directing, costumes & cinematography, all done awesomely. The performances of both Wallace Chung & Li Xiao Ran were outstanding & worthy of accolades. The rest of the cast gave their best performances as well. This drama deserves to be at the top spot.
