It's hard to make a live action that come close to the donghua, unless they make big budget film series based on the show, even films can't fully cover the story.

True, typical cdrama style protag being the best option to become emperor will give it up to random people who are there only to become emperor once protags give it up, protag becoming a ruler with his talent can bring forth a prosperous era.

That's great, I was just seeing I have seen many dramas keep the bad or parts that can be removed while remove the best parts that can make the show even better etc, but I think in this drama only him sitting near her is shown so they won't show the part where ML is not happy with cousin regarding what he did in drama etc.

Maybe that is why she didn't want to get in relationship with him this time.

Even if the woman is a bad person, doesn't mean she should be raped, else FL might have felt guilty of what she did to become empress and getting raped she just accepted it as punishment or payment for what she did, it's just messed up, if ML knew his cousin raped FL and was OK with it that too is problematic.
This is the problem when adapting novels into drama they make a lot of changes, sometimes even change the story a lot, but they stay true to all the bad parts in the novel will not remove or change it, but remove the best parts in novels.
I watched two donghuas after watching drama versions, and I was shocked because the donghuas were excellent, one was Novoland Eagle flag drama version cut all the best fights etc and added new characters and made that character relevant to story, donghua version of that drama is superb with great fights. Next being Legendary twins donghua that had cultivation and fights against powerful enemies, but drama version was like protag was just a human at right place at right time just escaped because was lucky.

She was not pure evil, her circumstances led her to that path in the first life, but with that experience she wanted to change, and it's not perfect.

My Journey to you is sort of wuxia mystery, it's dark.

I think webtoon version is complete, as for drama version splitting them into seasons good for Netflix to get more subscriptions, it's hard to make people keep their subscriptions.
It's rare for k dramas to have more than one season, this trend started with OCN dramas which had 10–12 episodes, one of them got sequels and concluded the story while Vampire prosecutor ended with cliffhanger in season 2 and got a spin off later but never a sequel.
K dramas that get aired on TV only rare few got more than one sequel, but they give a conclusion for story in each season don't end with big cliffhangers.

The story is about an ex gangster who lies low and when his brother is killed he wants revenge, a lot of people are involved even though the act looked random, there are women characters, but the story revolves around ML revenge. It's based on the webtoon with the same name, which is completed.
There are manga, webtoon, Manhua with female centric stories, Gokusen deals with female acting head of a yakuza clan teaching in school.
There are few other gangster webtoons with no major female characters or love interest.

She was let down when that guy who want to sell her told that her husband came, and after he was told she was sold/given to another guy he left. If he paid the money and said he wants his wife no matter what, she would have stayed with him no matter what.
It was funny how the guy pursued her to be his wife and later made another woman pregnant when his wife was captive, FL is smart why would she stay with such a man.

I watched this show when it aired and enjoyed watching it. It's a good drama for the time period it came out.

If a 50 plus episode show is censored/edited, it will have pacing issue.
One interesting drama based on Novoland universe got butchered, FL became advisor of ML to take revenge on him but thanks to editing/censoring she becomes his wife, one of rarest drama where there were no hurdles for ML to get FL, due to editing some of the scenes etc made no sense at all.
Dragging is common to all c dramas with 30 plus episodes, I am pretty sure even the top drama among this genre with the highest rating will have that issue.
C dramas can't have 50 plus episodes. But they come up with season 1-2 format to bypass that.

I liked this drama, it's good. Actor who plays ML sister in this show played FL in his latest drama.

Moral/Ethics etc don't work like now in those times, Khan/Emperors etc if they take a woman as wife/concubine they don't have much choice. Harem/court drama even if there is pure love after story progress, many frustrating elements etc will creep in.
