It seems they are not rushing things (plot wise) with this show and I like that. That some people find it slow so be it but I find it interesting and can’t wait for what’s next!!!!

I remember reading that Cir after confessing to Phu that there’s no parallel world and that he made it up and lied to Phu making Phu so upset that he ran away from Cir. Phu was about to get hit by a car but Cir pushed him out of the way and was hit himself instead. Leaving him momentarily with memory loss or retrograde amnesia. They never explain in the book the scar disappearing part but to my understanding there was never parallel world. But everyone has their own interpretation of things.

The mom is upset and harbor hatred towards her sons dad because he left her and she felt ashamed of divorced for societal norms. due to her being psychotic, controlling and overly jealous of every woman Cir father came in contact with resulting in him not wanting to be with her anymore. Then they each took a child and the mother got Cir because the father didn’t fight her on it. Then she controls everything about Cir due to her psychosis and fear of Cir getting involved with his brother and father and the excuse to keep Cir on a leash is also because she has to have an heir to take over the family business And she makes his life a living hell.

I don’t know about the tv show but in the book. There’s no parallel world. Cir made everything up because he has been in love with Phu since high school and then he had an accident and thought that if he died and didn’t confess his love to Phu he will regret it and that’s why he lied (that he’s from another world) to get close to Phu. Hope this helps you understand it more. But in the book that is not reveal until the almost ending. I was like. Wow. What. A. Twist!!! And hated him lying to Phu. But he was so adorable and loving to Phu that I forgave Cir for the lie.
