I'm really invested in the three power couples in this dramas. One a pair of killers(killing pigs also counts) one a pair red flag+wild woman beauty and the last one, future rulers still running around, stealing sweets and sleeping in a box π€£π€£
This story has got some important details right. The fact that people take a long time to heal after severe injuries, the fact that women are human beings with their own lives and their own plans and I especially love that the ladies aren't speaking with a childish voice. Most importantly, that a girl can totally save a man just because he's handsomeπππ
Guys, this was my first Bl drama....I feel like I was cheated all the previous years watching cdramas. Now I don't know how to move on. Everything else I try tastes bland.
Hold your horses βπ΄ and watch episode 28 preview she isn't going to forgive him easily but it's not a lazy…
Lol, thankx for the heads up. But what I meant is that the 'misunderstanding' as a plot device is too old, too overused as a conflict-resolution tactic. It's very lazy writing. people have invested in the their whole story from the beginning and now what they're basically saying is that we were emotionally invested over nothing? like ....'"oops! just a misunderstanding. This peekaboo is too disrespectful to the audience for making us emotionally invest in a 'misunderstanding'.
Naah, this was some lazy plot twist. I think they realized that they wrote a conflict that was too realistic which put the characters in a real dilemma and they didnt know how to solve it...enter the 1.new villain and 2. make a selfish husband out to be a self-sacrificing hero. I wish they would stop trying so hard to make male characters so perfect and heroic and all the cliche's (Zhang Suan has also gone back to simping...) - now they've made Siling out to be unreasonable and the cliche'd bitter wife/ ex wife when in fact all that she went through was very real. To make matters worse, Bai Jiusi losing his memories makes him become even more innocent and I'm sure this will force Siling to forgive him, especially considering now they have a common enemy to fight. What a waste of great potential to resolve a conflict. But I have to say, I'm so proud of how Siling as a Goddess is so consistent, no apologies, no pulling punches. Usually, these kinds of female characters are written as villains, ... progress. Keeping my fingers crossed.
OMG you are so right! it is quite refreshing. But with jiang bian I would admit that I like him. his little trantrums…
exactly, female characters being annoying has been made too common and I'm sick of it. If not that, then they have silly conflicts among one another over men, that truly doesnt even serve the plot. Most female characters are just written like this to be hated. makes me wonder if it's an accidental result of a patriarchal culture or CCP's way of fighting against feminism
The Legend of Shen Li doesn't have an annoying female character, too.
i didnt get to watch that one past a few beginning episodes. didnt like the way the male lead was mistreating the female lead and taking advantage of her predicament- that narrative has been made too common that people dont actually expect MLs to have any respect for FLs. so sad. but thankx for the suggestion. I may just decide to cultivate some patience and give it another try
i think this is the first chinese drama that doesnt have an annoying female character.Halleluyah, finally! instead they wrote Long Yuan and Jiang bian. these two are the perfect archetypes of the annoying 'masculine' man. one is deathly annoying and wants all the attention and consideration of others, and the other is what they call 'the wall'( no emotions except anger and brutal force). I dont know if this drama is book-based but it was definitely written by a very spiritually aware woman, nothing short of a Goddess. The dialogues are not to fill the silence but to actually say something worthwhile "why can shi-jie look out for people from the demonic sects but cant help your own junior when in trouble"-Qingyue calling out her hypocrisy "Why can the immortals invade the mortals but not the other way round"- Siling to the heavenly emissary. "what Qingyue wants to do (or was it where she wants to go) is her business, whether I want to go look for her or not is my business"- Zhang Suan really grew on me I cant wait for more episodes to gush about. I thought after The Blossoming Love (Zhang Bin Bin and Sun Zhe Ni) I wouldn't have another drama to gush about but it seems there is hope for dignified female characters in costume dramas after all. sorry not sorry about the long post...
usually in chinese costume dramas, the female characters are always in conflict with one another over some incompetent man, but in this one they support one another (even that little demon girl trying to run after her boyfriend but her mom forbade and told her to wait for him to come for her-I was like, "Yes, little girl. Your Mum knows what's up when it comes to men") . Also, in almost all cdramas, the male lead usually makes the FL go through hell for her to learn a lesson but they end up getting forgiven pretty quickly(I'm still bitter about Xiao Yao in Lost You Forever), I'm glad in this one the F lead's pain is not just conveniently thrown out of the window for the story to move forward quickly but is actually addressed cause the way JiuSi was so dismissive about the pain he made her go through saying it was just a decade made me want to rip him apart.
If i had seen the shorts of this drama on yt instead of women backstabbing each other in every other kdrama or grown women fangirling over a handsome oppa, or the worst , eveybody conquering death or supernatural s***t, I wouldnt have been so disappointed by kdramas this year. This one has restored my hope. I'm glad the story isnt overly dramatic and its not just Lee Tang killing people and enjoying it like some a pychopath. The backstory of the detective was also an added bonus to give us a bigger villain to root against, instead of pushing the audience to support the main lead unconditionally. Good job
When Li Rong said "I must be the only woman marrying the same man twice" i was like grrrl. I'm loving how she's not immediately likeable because having lived a wholelifetime can make people question and abandon ideals and I'm glad she's not simping over the ml as some of the audience seem to faul her for.I loved the prison scene when she basically told him "why should i have to wait for you, after all I'm a princess" You go girl!
I know right! I am 18 too and still want to change some things so early
The two of you are too cute-the whole purpose of these rebirth stories is to inspire people to change their live from today onwards. There is no such miracle as rebirth, so why not ask yourself what future you would want to live in and how can you start reshaping your life today. Of course not everything will go as planned but its the effort of taking life into your own hands that count.
