To me this was so-so. I think it would be much better if they had ditched the romance and the weird medical mystery/clinic shenanigans that i don't even want to call a 'thriller' and just focused on father/son relationship. Both Jang Hyuk and Heo Joon Ho can pull their weight.
It's a fun drama and all, but I think what makes me not rate it as high as I was initially planned is because i find it highly improbable the way they connected her to the whole story in the ep15. So many things had happened in the past and yet she managed to forget it all so completely that even when all the clues were pointing to those events she couldn't remember them and only realized the connection then? Bah. Also, the episodes after she is reunited with her kid feel draggy, they could have wrapped up the story sooner I think.
I love the old wuxia series feel I get from this adaptation. Brilliant touch for the instrumental opening using…
I also came here to say that the wire fu in this series is masterfully done, it's been a while since i've seen such well done choreography (especially in a c-drama). I haven't watched any of Condor dramas, mainly because neither the cinematography nor the actors would pull me in in any of them, but i found this adaption to have potential to do that, pity there are no subs.
The fight between the dogs and the boar was real, they actually let the animals bite and suffer. So China.
Yep those shots were real unfortunately. I'm not entirely sure if they shot it solely for movie though or if it was an existing footage they used, or if they took a shot from a boar hunt that was happening anyway. It's very obvious that that particular scene was taking place in a different location and was edited in during post production, even the dogs that attack are not the same breed that the ones the girl is running around with.At any rate that whole scene is very awkward to watch.
This melodramatic twist on Snow White has it all: a convoluted plot, irrational characters and obligatory damsel in distress. The capable woman is obligatorily evil (she tries to pass off as tragic but nah, kinda fails there), the non-conventional woman (part of the 3+ dwarfs who try to guard the damsel in distress) is greedy, vulgar, borderline incompetent and a comedic side kick, the damsel is pretty and is up to her ears in distress, the hunter who suppose to have conflicted loyalties kinda falls flat in that department (but excels at butt kicking and generally at looking cool). However it is prettily shot, has some occasional sparks of brilliance and can be entertaining in parts.
I'm not sure why ppl praise this show so much, I'm 11 episodes in and it's hilariously bad.
The productions values are high and it's all pretty (i don't even mind that the female mc parades in uncharacteristic for that era outfits that seems to be taken from the pages of vogue) but the script makes me lol non-stop, the dialogues are pretty shallow (or is it the acting? i can't decide) and the plot.....there are so many things that are just don't work for me, for example: Manna doesn't convinces me as a character, on meta level i can rationalize why she does what she does, but the way it is portrayed in the story she is a character that does things because the script says she should, that's the closest way i can describe it. Yanzhi character was ok until that spy school thing (because as you know spies need to go to spy school and take classes), where it went downhill, because her character suddenly discovered that she is a comedic relieve character (never mind that she was sobbing a second ago) then decided that no she is not, then decided that yes she is, etc. The rest of the cast just exist to cushion the two female leads, that's the sole purpose of their existence in the story.
I might continue watching this, but it will be purely for the lolz and maybe for the 'how many times can you spot the lady in purple dress" drinking game.
I've watched a bit of 1997 and 1994, they are both nice series but this one sucked me in from the first episode. I didn't watched it to guess who will be the future husband (and strangely at least to me it all seemed very straight forward and obvious with whom she will end up from the very beginning) and so I wasn't on any team, what i really liked about this installment are the characters, their individual stories and their relationships (i don't mean romantic relationships only). I also liked that this is one of the few dramas that doesn't focuses only on young and beautiful ppl. To me this series is more about group of ppl and their stories than anything else and that's what I liked the most.
I think i'll need something lighthearted after this, it's one of the heaviest korean historical dramas I've seen so far, very well put together I might add.
Shin Yeo Oki's and Oh Seung Il's antics is probably the best thing about this show. I couldn't warm up to the S1, it felt bland so I've put it on hold. Wouldn't call S2 better, I think both seasons have equal amount of cons and pros and they both lack some very fundamental things. S2 has very different vibe though, it has similar concept but very different execution, more upbeat should I say?
I havent read novel. For BL dramas and movies bit clumsi acting is usual but here ...acting was so poor that even…
Pretty much this. It's like a collection of loosely connected short sketches. There is no character development, no real story and it is full of stereotypes to boot. If it was smut, at least it could be written off as smut, as is i found it to be rather dull and the whole execution made the central concept of the series pointless.
I think the only redeeming quality of this series is that Wang Qing (the actor who plays Chi Cheng) is hot! That's about it.
Btw does anyone knows the title of the ending song?
I'm also enjoying this a lot even though it is a remake, it is very nicely put together.
