...I haven't had SLS in the longest time. The SML was so adorable! His sadness at the end made my heart hurt. I hope to see Yoo Jung Woo in full length dramas in the near future. He was great!
It would have been amazing if they could have given this an unexpected twist and I actually thought it may go that way. I'm so sad. This hasn't happened in a long time...
Why the whiney FL, especially one that is actually supposed to be a fighter?? I just never understand these choices.…
The noble idiocy at the end went on for too long. All the way in to ep 24?? The girl is a fighter and there was honestly no big threat shown to warrant cutting off connection with her. Don't even get me started on that last episode's car accident scene. The ML had PLENTY of time to get out of the way and he was standing almost at the sidewalk. Also, who just stands in the middle of the road the road? Furthr, FL legit walked off the sootter and got of the way only for ML to push her back into the trajectory of the car. I have seen some bad car "accident" scenes and schemes, but this was THE worst.
Why the whiney FL, especially one that is actually supposed to be a fighter?? I just never understand these choices. I honestly could not stand the overacting annoyingness. FL has potential because the last 2-3 episodes where she acts sad is pretty decent. The chemistry was great - I believe they are dating IRL - so the kisses seemed authentic.
The storyline with the corporate takeovers and the gym were not tightly interwoven. The business dealings were just business jargon being thrown around and no real plot twists happened due to them. It was more like "so and so said the business is XYZ so, therefore, that is what is going to happen." It honestly started very promisingly but fell flat.
Also, the angst at the end was so unnecessary. Watch it only if you have no other fluffy romances on hand. Even then, brace yourself for a whiney FL (albeit "physically" strong).
Nicely done! This was a great overview of Xinxia and I wish I had something like this before I watched my first one because I was very confused and looking things up left and right. It’s also a well laid out article - so pretttty. [insert :heart~2:]
So late to this article. It was fantastic. I often think about the romances shown in drama vs my 10 years of married life. The drama romance is a great escape but I could never imagine all the jealousy, power plays, angst, SFL/SML, and time and expenses shown in drama romances. Lol. I’ll take my hubby and our marriage any day.
Thanks for the great article and sharing your RL experiences!
Something tells me you would recommend watching Joy of Life. lol
I wholeheartedly agree with Seven Tan in Under the Power. It has to be one of her best roles. I love how she was powerful without being overbearing and cute without being silly/stupid.

AGLM is pretty good. As usual, they could have kept it at 30 eps so it dragged around ep 24-28.
