Dropped at Episode 7 – Here’s My Rant (Review)
I haven’t written a review for a dropped show in a while, but this one pushed me over the edge.
From the intro alone, you can probably tell—I’ve dropped this show. I just couldn’t do it anymore. To make it through, you’d have to lock both your brain and emotions in a box and bury it in the basement. It got me so pissed off, it actually became funny. At some point, I started wondering if this was a satire.
I’ll try my best to write this without spoilers, but fair warning—strong feelings ahead.
I don’t even know where to begin, because everything was just bad.
The Main Couple? Toxic.
Let’s talk about the relationship between the main leads. Toxic doesn’t even begin to describe it. And don’t get me started on the “love confession.” Never in my life have I heard a more obnoxious, emotionally manipulative confession.
I know I said I would avoid spoilers, but let me just give you a snippet of what I mean:
“I can’t promise to catch you when you fall, but I assure you that I‘ll be here while you’re falling.”
I kid you not—this is a direct quote from the confession. It might not sound that terrible alone, but on top of everything else, it’s just sad. Teenagers these days might find this cute—I don’t know—but I couldn’t stomach it. And my teenage years weren’t that long ago, mind you.
The Male Lead? Not It.
I started this show with hope, even though I already had my reservations. I personally hate the “cool guy” trope—the kind where rudeness is supposed to equal mystery. I was hoping he’d drop the act as they got closer, but nope. I kept making excuses for his behavior until I couldn’t anymore. It wasn’t cute. It was insufferable.
The Female Lead? No Better.
She has the brain of a squirrel, I’m sorry. She just kept letting the men around her derail her entire life. First Sheen—don’t tell me he didn’t know she liked him—and then Drake. It was like going from the frying pan to fire.
The Friendships? Not Real.
Her friendship with Aya? I don’t even know how that qualifies as a friendship. They were constantly fighting and hitting each other. Lowkey, I think they actually hate each other. In fact, most of the relationships in this show were borderline abusive. Even Sheen’s relationship with his ex was just plain unhealthy.
Supporting Couple? Nope.
I thought the supporting lead’s romance would be a breath of fresh air. I was wrong. It was creepy and stalkerish. I’ll just leave it at that.
The Plot? A Mess.
The side plot was weird and disturbing. I think it was meant to be the author’s hook or something—it just came across as bizarre to me. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but I didn’t like it. Honestly, I think that’s what finally broke the camel’s back for me. That was my last straw. And then, as if I wasn’t already suffering enough, they tried to add a love triangle. NO. Just no.
To Be Fair…
Nothing against the actors. I think they did their best. The plot is the main problem. And before anyone says, “Just wait till the college arc!”—no thank you. I don’t think any amount of character development could save either the ML or FL at this point.
And yes, I know some people say the original story was written when the author was in high school. Nothing against the author personally, but honestly, I find that more disturbing than endearing. I didn’t find this kind of behavior cute in high school, and I sure as hell don’t now!
I’ve said my piece. This is more of a rant than a review, but I still can’t believe I sat through 7 episodes of this.
Anyway, I now pass the baton to you, the reader. Give the show a try and let me know what you think.
