Title Cheer Up
I like how the FL and SML are friends (something a lot of people seem to miss). Yes, he likes her and wants to go out with her. He also cares about her, enjoys her company and they have fun together. They're also honest with each other. Just sad for him cos he will get his heart broken for sure.

I found Do Hae Yi a little annoying in ep 1 but I'm so in love with her right now. She's so bright and cheerful and super cute. At first, it felt like a front to cover all her worries about money but I think she's really just a sweet girl making the best of what life has thrown at her.

Hope we get to see more scenes of the mums together. They have such great chemistry.

just saw a clip and it seems fun. How about the actual latest episodes? Is it good or nah?
It's good. Super cute and fun.

This drama was a hot mess. Scratch the surface, and there's stuff that doesn't make any or very little sense. But dammit, it delivered on the entertainment, suspense, and drama and that's why I enjoyed watching it. The characters got under my skin so bad. I don't think I have wanted as many characters in one drama dead as I did in this one. Not to add how frustrating the sisters were.

If there's one thing I'm unsatisfied about, it's that we didn't get to see Jang Ma Ri pay for her role in things. I wanted her to be exposed as a liar and lose her position but that didn't happen.

That's the part I expect to see an explanation for. I think the killer might have freed him to use his death the way he did?

How did An Tae Ho make it to the wedding even though he was all injured the day before?

The thing is that he was being tortured, not being beaten to death so the focus of the guys that had him was to cause him pain. Plus he'd been beaten a lot as a kid and is a construction worker so his body is more conditioned than an average person's. Then add the fact that bleeding can look fatal until wounds are cleaned up. And all the hate that's fueling him. He won't be 100% but he'd have enough strength to find his way to the wedding.

Drinking culture in Korea is correctly reflected in k-dramas. That's a fact. That's not what your comment was about or what I was responding to.

You highlighted a specific behaviour shown in dramas ie women getting drunk and passing out with no regard for their safety, and implied women are being influenced to do this in their real lives because it's shown in dramas. Or did I misunderstand you?

Do you think that most of Namkoong Min drama no Romance and his character is same
If the character's he's playing is funny, then yes, you find plenty similarities. But it's not a bad thing. He does comedy really well. I actually think some of the characters are written with him in mind.

You think Korean women are watching these dramas and thinking "oh nice. I'll replicate this behaviour in my real life"? I think they have enough judgment to separate a drama cliche from reality.

Now, if you're thinking of women in other parts of the world having a misconception about how this sort of behaviour could play out in Korea, that's a different thing entirely. And even that can be argued.

Lee Sung Cheon is one of the better-written characters I've seen in a k-drama recently. He conveys the complexity of human behaviour, weakness and strengths. There is a logic to his actions when you look at his past, also bearing in mind that at 18 he's at the cusp of adulthood. What I like though is that he tries to take some control of his life and accepts the repercussions for his actions when they appear.

Hwang Tae Yong on the other hand is passive, floating through life. And tbh he can't be any other way given how much he's been physically and emotionally abused. Now add the confusion brought on by Sung Cheon changing his life twice and it's a mess. What I'd like to see is him becoming a more active part of his own life, whether good or bad. Just do something.

The worst-written characters for me are the dad, uncle and Oh Yeo Jin. Their motivations are unclear and they're just evil because the plot needs certain characters to be evil. Too one-dimensional. Na Ju Hee is so boring, I couldn't care less about her.

But... it's still ep 5 and everything I think could turn on its head and then we'll have some real drama. *rubs hands in glee*

It is going to resume where they left off. With a slight sprinkle of independence on Eiw's part.

What’s your take, guys, on this “friends to lovers with giant 20 years gap” type of plot? Realistic or fantasy?…
Especially when they depict it as if the one pining has not had other relationships in that time and has just been there waiting. Like, not one other person in 17/20 years moved your heart? Fantasy.

They might have had similar situations and both reacted with less awkwardness and moved on from it because they're not in the place emotionally to have the same reaction as they did in ep 2.

He's so obviously smitten with her. Even without the puppy eyes, it's clear he puts her first.

Was beginning to like the blind-date girl but she's doing the "I'm going to be different, I'm going to change him" thing and that's hella irritating. Just hope they don't make her a two-faced calculating bitch. Want to see some healthy above-board "competition".

Love to hate that mean director. Love how openly mean she is. Hate how mean she is.

Friends to lovers? Check. Choi Siwon's dimples? Check. I'm all over this drama like ants on sugar. It's going to be chock-full of tropes and predictable and I'm going to love every minute of it.

Really liked how the ML got called out on his BS in ep 1. In k-dramas characters often get away with being asshats and their misbehaviour is excused and swept under the rug.

Enjoying this so much. Was worried it'd be dark after the first couple episodes but they have the lightheartedness in and it rocks. The plot is all over the place but the humour at all of those places work. Even the SML is growing on me.

Being typecast isn't necessarily a bad thing. So long as the actor delivers the roles, enjoys playing them and gets paid. I've seen PMY in a few romantic FL roles and this is the funniest character so far. That's an important difference, for me, even if I can see the similarities with those previous characters she's played.

Ah. Lol. I just strung the words together for emphasis. Basically saying the connection is like a thread that's super frayed and nearly breaking.

I get you but it's not near enough to make a connection with the book. It's frayed-to-death thread tenuous. Saying they borrowed the title would have been enough imo. It's just really funny to see that line on the page every time. lol.
