Partings

Nangong is dealt with. YanRuYun was also punished for his escape. Even with extenuating circumstances they added 40 years to his sentence. YueChu gets them to agree to work with spirit alliance to place guards preventing Fox spells to work in the prison. HongYe tells HongHong about the formless ones beyond the barrier. There is still a big question of how to deal with them. The constable ends up having to quit her job which now means she cannot visit her lover in prison. Here is where the wonderful alliance could have allowed them visitation in prison. 😝 so now he knows the constable will spend her life waiting for him outside the prison. Here was the debate with HongHong on giving him the spell to make the constable forget. YueChu fought against it and the constable also agreed she did not want to forget. To allow him the spell meant they would never know each other in present or future. HongHong offered another means where her life would be extended but she would forget for a century. She opted to remember. HongHong notes YueChu always fights for both sides. That one lover should not decide for both. He eventually corners her with this. Yan RuYun finally realizes she loves him as he replays what he said. Men can be slow.😝 But then he was willing to throw it away for her to have a life without him. ShiJi sets up Luo for a battle with HongHong. She plays up the guilt because that is what she does best. YueChu as always is there to protect her and between them they break through his enthrallment. He opts to kill himself with the sword. He confesses that he was the one that killed Lei’s brother and that he colluded because he wanted them to be a pair. He accepted it wasn’t meant to be but let her know his regrets. ShiJi drives home the thought HongHong is still responsible for his death. HongHong declares herself Luo’s only friend as she seals his cave. YueChu is now angered and wants to know how she could not remember their time together and wants to know why. I am not sure if even she knows what she did. And since ShiJi didn’t stay there long, was it really worth it? I’m with YueChu. They think better together. She should have consulted him first to see if there was any other way to deal with the tree and ShiJi. He is best thinking outside the box. And he was the only one that would dare to argue with her directly and consider her path. If both had done half heart at beginning
..could their fates have been changed?

Lovers and liars and editing issues

The constable has been kidnapped to make Yan RuYu escape and be killed. The plan is to use this to trick HongHong into leaving Tushan and being killed by ShiJi. Nangong😝 I wish they would have annihilated this family and destroyed their forge. Nothing good has come from their and now it seems they have brought in a force beyond ShiJi. I am not as convinced of this from what I have seen, but he is definitely colluding with evil spirits. He is smarter than Ysng and Jin RenFeng, at least more cunning in self preservation. He makes sure there is a way out for him. I am hoping that venue is now closed and they just purge the world of him.😝 so HongYe never recovered from their battle. That is not surprising actually. Without HuaiZhu he would not have real incentive to live. Especially if their child is now grown. There is some bad editing this episode. Three different times it was not matched well. I do not know what effect this had on the dialogue of other translations. It was covered ok in English for me. With this cast it is somewhat sloppy for production to leave this in the final product. More mysteries like why QinLan’s finale was cut from Love in Pavilion and that this one was released before prologue and starting with her story. It makes no sense for either drama. YueChu is not really understood without seeing the antics of QinLan and QuZhou from last drama. And while he did have a different father, his antics here are very similar to how the two behaved in last drama. It makes sense if seen in the opposite order of release😝I am not sure how they are going to end the constable and Yan RuYu’s story but their willingness to die for each other makes the strength of their love very clear. I hope this negates whatever evil ShiJi has planned for the tree. I am surprised snow fox is killed so easily. He was the tragic villain of this story and even he told YaYa not to save him in future. He still seems more likely candidate for outer circle than Nangong to me. Tho power and money and evil tend to go together too well. His plot against WangQuan family is why Yangs and Nangongs should have been dealt with more strongly last drama. 😝 Same with Jin RenFeng. The nobles’ arrogance in just letting things slide have hurt too many. Too bad HongYe’s harshness didn’t extend to the nobles equally and was used up on spirits. YueChu's battle with ShiJi has weakened him
again but at least he could show the duplicity of Luo. HongHong wants to shoulder the blame, but Luo is selfish and weak. He wanted mutual destruction rather than what would have benefited everybody. I don’t think he killed Lei’s brother I think snow fox did that. But he is as guilty as if he did. I hope he receives real justice.

Pinky promise

Judgment from humans is pretty severe on spirits. Yan RuYu got 60 years and this is a reduced sentence for assisting in saving constable.🙄 I did like how constable got a confession from him in her scroll questionsđŸ„° The only thing sweeter than this was his horn gift. These two are such an odd couple yet so fitting. Who would have thought that being judged ugly is what they most had in common? That was a nice twist. Their steadfastness even with lengthy jail time has made them official for the tree. The pinky promise of him behaving in future was very sweet. I really like these two. Initially I was wanting her as a second for YueChu but this is a better fit for her. Just nothing that I pictured. Tushan is still investigating the murder. YueChu and constable have pointed a link with DongFang Luo, but so far no evidence other than her gift of smell has stuck. YueChu has gone back to villa because FuCheng is awake and he wants more evidence about the noble she saw. Unfortunately I think was Nangong and not Luo. Lai is also suspicious of Luo so that’s a good thing. His motive for serving ShiJi is selfish but it is not as mean spirited as a\I thought except for his hate of YieChu. I think there is equal mutual distain with these two. 😝It is also ironic that each believe the other has won. Neither realize she no longer can hold either of them in her heart. YueChu has almost figured out the truth of things but not the extent. Luo has figured out a way to make the constable’s love with spirit a way to trick HongHong. It is unfortunate nobody considers him capable of being a threat. However, with the exception of the snow fox
.none of the villains chosen by ShiJi were very capable. 😝and there is still a mystery about snow fox origins
.is he from within or without the circle.

Luo the liar

Yan RuYu got the info to alliances on how to get into the valley. As they were leaving, two of the gang were pushed into the ravine. The bridge was broken leaving HongHong and YueChu on one side and the rest of the group on the other. Snow Fox had devised a formation that would trap HongHong and free ShiJi. YueChu managed to finally convince Lei who had really tricked and killed his brother. He managed to get HongHong out and she finished rescuing him. They are alive but trapped there. It was funny him commenting that she finally cooked porridge for him.😂 She did not get the joke but she is puzzled why he takes care of her. At last she is convinced he is not part of the problem. He just needed to almost die first.😝 what was unexpected until the constable mentioned the smell was Luo being the traitor. He seems to mild mannered to kill. I thought it was Snow Fox. He did something that makes him more guilty than innocent in the murder. He also revealed himself a follower of ShiJi calling her dark lord. 😝 Guess she was the one that woke him up and now he owes her. He has been providing Tushan intel and ironically is envious of YueChu. For whatever reason he is as empty about love as HongHong now is. YueChu and HongHong followed the river and managed to get back to Tushan. Luo has told his ‘masters’ they are back. I hope he gets found out soon. After HongHong guarded him for centuries it is annoying where his loyalties are. I think like when he was a boy, he is weak and cowardly so he tries to play both sides as much as possible. Yan RuYu is waiting for his court case. Unfortunately the new guard did too much talking about matchmakers and he believes she lied to him about character being more important than looks. I hope this doesn’t make him do anything stupid.

Moonlight

HongHong is framed for the murder of ChiLei’s brother. The gang was ready to leave and Snow Fox didn’t want that happening. He murdered the brother so that they would be willing to take HongHong on in a fight. The constable and Yan RuYu are very cute. I think she knows who he really is and it was a story of unexpected understanding she shared with him. She showed great bravery as she takes on the chief and boots him out of the cave. HongHong is taking every opportunity to put YueChu in his place. I can’t blame her considering how arrogant he acts if you don’t know who he is. He still thinks it is placement in her heart compared to Luo rather than lack of recognition period. I still am not understanding why Lai didn’t set him straight. Even YaYa who blabs everything hasn’t told him😝Yan RuYu is heading to alliance group with map and constable is battling gang chief. Snow fox is monitoring all of it. I am not sure how he plans on taking out HongHong. He has enough hate for everybody. ShiJi would not get any to feed on with this one around.

Keeping up appearances

RongRong’s pupil is in trouble and can’t prove he’s innocent. The constable followed him through the poisoned miasma and he has managed to get her the antidote. He did an excellent job of proving himself innocent and guilty at the same time. Hopefully she will trust him and they can get away from the gang. He is doing well if going undercover. It is a shame if he is not. YueChu finds himself locked up because of his talking with Nangong. It does not speak well for him if he wasn’t aware of that one’s dealing with the dark😝 I thought he was smarter. However, he has been rather tunnel visioned in HongHong so I can’t completely fault him for not being more astute with alliance politics. Lai being asked to poison him is quite funnyđŸ€Ł I don’t know why they don’t just tell him what happened so he can learn to accept it rather than this weak subterfuge to try to keep him distracted. I also see that HongHong’s spirit mark is now blue
is that signifying lack of love?Lai and YaYa are still very cute. She is a bit less annoying. But here is where he tells YaYa one thing and YueChu another. They should have just told him what he was up against and got it over with. It’s not like he’s not going to figure it out eventually. Even the old drunkard should have said more. He did not have to turn the topic to Luo so hard. His advice is never right. 😝 Now to see how all this turns out with the constable. I liked her kindness with him when he was his true form.

Back to Tushan

Nangong tried his best to get the alliance against HongHong, but YueChu and constable rebutted well. Now YueChu is leader of the yiqi alliance to work with spirit alliance. He is even ordered to go back to Tushan. He is doing his best to run into HingHong and her sisters are doing their best to prevent it. It is a fun hit and miss. HongHong and Luo are trying to locate the gang members but they are hid last a poison mist. Luo was affected by if and now needs to figure out an antidote. He has offered to make himself the guinea pig to test on until they find the right cure. It is not ideal, but he is more used to the human trial and error method. He is already poisoned so it really isn’t a bad option for him since he has a working knowledge of herbs and medicines. YueChu found a way to dispatch both his group and drunkard fox. So while they are toasting each other he is out and about seeing if he can find HongHong. He is at a spot she used to favor and while reminiscing, she actually shows up. I did not even recognize HongYe in this one. He is starting his cold exterior and his son has already left. This shows he did honor HuaiZhu’s request to let him leave if he asked. This also shows that HongYe is sick. Not sure what he has but he had hoped his son would come home, but even knowing - his son chooses to stay away.

Prison escape

This episode shows more of snow fox’s plan to disrupt both alliances. Three years have passed since YueChu left Tushan. He doesn’t want peace so now he has kidnapped women who had family that created the prison. He stripped their memories so that he could mastermind a prison break. Fortunately YueChu and HongHong intervened, but the three main gang members escaped. They are going to cause a lot of grief. HongHong sees YueChu but doesn’t remember him. But I do wonder, she introduced Luo to rice balls and YueChu still eats two bowls to remember their day in the market. The constable knows the spirit blamed as abductor wasn’t the right one, but she is going to be a big target of the one who escaped. The cowardly Nangong leader is most likely going to try to pin the escape on the spirit alliance as suggested by snow fox. I am not sure how he is going to single out HongHong as responsible, but I think he will do his best to make the accusation stick. He is exactly like elder Yang from first part of story. He is an idiot thinking he will gain position by assisting the dark. He should ask Jin RenFeng how well that worked out for him.😝 I am curious if snow fox is doing the bidding of ShiJi or is this solely him? Also is he the one from the outer circle biding his time? Or just a much smarter lackey? We still do not know that much about him other than being branded by a cruel human with mother talisman. YueChu is both keeping a low profile while also getting a grassroot movement strengthening humans. He quietly helps settle arguments and is making a small foothold in establishing peace between the species. He knows this was Luo’s wish and that HongHong took it on as well. He hopes to replace Luo in her heart by realizing the dream. I am not sure how much progress he will make. His aunt and uncle gave everything to the cause with minimum to show for it. Maybe it’s fortunate he doesn’t realize what a losing battle it is. This just might help him succeed. The sad reality is that whether or not he realizes the dream for her, she will not have any heart to give him. Nobody has explained to him what HongHong did to trap ShiJi.

Learning new ways

We finally get the history between HongHong and Luo. Now we know why she felt so guilty. He has finally awakened. He feels very indebted to YueChu.😂 YueChu can’t help himself in pranking Luo. He is still jealous. Nangong is stirring up trouble with help from Snow fox. I wanted a better villain and now have one. He is crafty and won’t let go of his hate for humans. Now girl disciples are missing and Nangong is blaming spirit alliance. It’s for sure not them, but where are they hiding the women? The current Nangong leader seems very inept. But at least doesn’t seem to be using demon cores anymore. HongHong is staying to herself and quietly keeping an eye on everything. Something is amiss at the barrier and everybody is trying to figure out what. She overhears Nangong and Snow fox talking and hears YueChu’s name. Since she has no recollection of him, she doesn’t know how he fits into the scheme of things. YueChu is studying emptiness magic. The only thing he has figured out so far is that it is the exact opposite of everything he has learned. He is also making magic weapons for humans so they have less reason to fear spirits. It’s for sure snow fox wants trouble rather than peace. Waiting to see if he and YueChu will have a direct confrontation.

Leaving

YueChu has left flame to Tushan so they don’t have to fear it from future enemies. It is sweet how the sisters try to stop him. He surprised them with his gift. His sincerity at the tree
I hope it finds a way to reunite these two after their determined efforts to thwart it. That Nangong was overseeing tryoutsđŸ˜€ they are as annoying as they ever were. Snow fox is a true villain. It was so close to success. But YueChu’s place of love saw through the satisfaction he may have temporarily received killing Luo. He did not want him dead. He wanted to be the brighter star. It is almost humerous how neither Snow fox or ShiJi could understand the depths of true love. They do not even see it as being possible when right before their eyes. I am curious about this constable. She and YueChu together fighting corruption could be very interesting. I don’t think HongHong should have removed heaven earth thread. But, once she did, she should have had no expectations he would take her hand one last time. I am glad he was strong and didn’t give her that. Not that she would remember anyways. 😝 She has successfully removed him from her memories. I hope it makes her a better leader. But it seems evil is easier to creep in where love is not allowed to exist. Tushan is never going to be the same with YueChu absent. But the Alliance is never going to be the same with YueChu present😁 Now to see how things change for both of them. He was wiser in keeping his essence more the same. HongHong is changed for the worse with her move. It was almost as desperate as Jin RenFeng move. Tho this for a better reason, it may have just caused more harm than good.

The final riddance of Jin RenFeng

This episode had lots of sweet and sour. YueChu has gone to such lengths to woo HingHing and made the perfect scene to proposed. That has been countered by Snow Fox and ShiRi who are not dead. They transported themselves in a timely manner to seem killed. What those two did finally do was rid the world of Jin RenFeng. One cockroach truly squished. But, his sacrifice gave ShiYi a very powerful refined core that has pretty much completed her healing. Lai has surmised that she has another consorting with outside the protective circle that has kept the dark out. Nobody knows who this entity is or how powerful. They are assuming still not strong enough to break the circle or ShiJi would not be useful to them. Yaya and Lai are very cute. She still prattles too much but he likes it and chooses it. He will never have a dull moment with her. But he will never have a quiet one either😂 HongHong believes the only way to stop ShiRi is to give up the live seed of the tree and entrap ShiRi inside. However, once this is done, all memories of YueChu will be erased and she will have to live out a very long life without live being possible. Botj of her sisters and Lai have outlined specifically what it will cost both her and YueChu if she continues with this plan. Sadly, it has not deterred her choice. She is determined to follow the course no matter the cost to herself. RongRong has once again proved she is the most attuned to things. She knows that HongHong is not going to change her mind, but she has warned YueChu and told him why Luo had such an impact on HongHong. So now he too is being stubborn about a very specific path. He is plotting to involve himself with the Alliance and try to force them along in coexisting with spirits in harmony. Too bad he did not have a chat with his uncle about how that tends to work out.😝 So now these two are trying to make themselves star crossed on purpose. Here I also wish he could have had a chat with QuZhou about how living like that goes. These two are so determined to destroy themselves for the better good. We have seen that in part one
.will part two have a better result? DongFang fire villa will at least have a better place this time around. But who or what is outside the circle pulling the strings of ShiJi?

Evil spirits dealt with

Lai and YaYa disguised themselves as a couple wanting married under the tree. Their strong cores were wanted by the snow fox for ShiJi. They were trying to find out what happened to missing disciples from a neighboring city. The leader said his strongest warrior had also recently disappeared. HongHong managed to locate the body and they figured out that ShiJi was stealing their cores to make herself strong quickly. Yaya and Lai kept disguises and let Snow Fox take them. There they surprised ShiJi with a three pronged attack while YaYa fought the snow fox. Hong Hong ended up being the one to finish both of them. Yaya even gave the snow fox one last chance to live in Tushan peacefully, but he could not deal with humans and refused. He and his master died together. Here is something interesting. Two of the three sisters have beaus, but not the one who got love flower from tree. I am most curious who is her partner. Lai was touched when YaYa told him she liked him better than her idol. She still doesn’t know they are one and the same. He also was trying to get YueChu in trouble with HongHong, but he candidly stuck up for her. What did get him into trouble was saying how troublesome the two sisters were when all three were in earshot. 😂 YaYa often annoys me with her constant chatter and missing the forest for the trees. But, she is kindhearted and courageous so she makes up for her chatter with good deeds. I am glad they lightened up the mood after killing the evil ones. I just wish RenFeng was with them.😝 It makes him pay more to be alive but I really want him dead and gone.

Level 3 divine fire

Jin RenFeng arrogantly played all his cards and used the refined core to increase his fire power. However, he did not count on YueChu giving his heart blood to protect HongHong. She defeated him and he knows he cannot return or he will die for his crimes. YueChu is healing and now many in Tushan are wanting to harm him because of past grudges with DingFang divine fire. WangQuan has even sent a representative because they thought YueChu was forced to be there. They found a very fun way to keep him there
alimony debt.😂 YueChu is trying to increase his debt to be sure he can stay in Tushan indefinitely. They know that since his identity revealed that others will follow so they plot a way to get Jin RenFeng to reveal his and ShiJi’s location. They are wanting to end the conflict with RenFeng and hoping to also further damage ShiJi. YueChu is not sure why but after everything that happened he has cultivated to third level divine fire. Something even QinLan had never achieved. He is very proud of himself. He does not want to leave Tushan but they have devised a plan to make him bait to trap and finish of Jin RenFeng. I can only hope. The actor does an excellent job making his plight look painful, but the writing of his character still makes him a lame villain. I hope this is the end of his arc. He really needs to go.😝 YueChu does not have true understanding about HuaiZhu and HongYe. He thinks his aunt was forced to marry him in a deal with RenFeng. I hope he would learn the truth of this but doubt it will happen. I don’t see him having any wish to deal with the politics of leading DongFang Fire Villa. I do not know why QinLan never tried to see HuaiZhu, but they have not given this part of the story. It is also a shame the two cousins have not met. Now to see what happens when YueChu finds himself ‘home’.

DongFang justice

Jin RenFeng is brought to the villa and charged with his crimes. He is finally getting punished. I would have preferred death and hope it is coming soon. His blood is purged of fire and he is struck with sword several times to be sure he has no special talents. He is called to task for everything he has done and here I wish the actor would have acted a bit better. For all the pain he was receiving he didn’t make it seem that convincing. All present were surprised that YueChu wanted nothing to do with the villa. While I do u derstand I wish the servant would have clarified HuaiZhu’s position and treatment in WangQuan home. YueChu will leave with a bad attitude towards them. He wants nothing to do with the Alliance and I only consider that a plus. For all their talk of peace they tend to stir up and cover up a lot more than they fix. YueChu has left the care of the villa with the servants most deserving of the position and best equipped to handle the household. He really doesn’t have any reason to want to be there. Even seeing his mother’s things barely made him smile. It was a life he knew nothing about and really did not want to find out about. Except for the info he was not provided about his aunt. The snow fox is discovered as being an ally of ShiJi and YueChu knows he is asking about spirits with high cultivation. He is just not understanding why. ShiJi is worse than Nangong family. She is using their cores for herself and hurting her own kind. I am hoping she is dealt with soon.

Treachery abounds

The beginning of the episode is fun with the human market. Again YaYa just needs to shut the hell up.😝 she and fox elder are determined to use all ways possible to discourage a union of YueChu and HongHong. Yaya wants him married off and profitable. She either denies the attraction between older sis and YueChu or she is completely oblivious to the possibility. The old fox is different. He doesn’t see the match benefitting Tushan and he still wants DongFang’s blood for the tree. RenFeng has opted to take the last refined core. He prefers the high stakes option. It is the highest risk for his life long term, but it give him the greatest power in the interim. I am glad YueChu and HongHong had an evening of fun. This actor for YueChu
he is very like a combo of QinLan and QuZhou. I know they were fated to not be a pair, but had they been, this boy is it😁 He is more carefree like his mother and steadfast in protecting like his father. He is not to third level flame cultivation yet but is very close. RenFeng is setting up the foxes in Tushan for an attack. He has made it look like humans are being attacked by them. The demon that he uses for blood tried to warn YueChu so that the attack would fail and RenFeng killed. But his henchman discovered her before message could be sent. They sent YueChu a false message to trap him but weren’t smart enough to phrase in a believable manner. HongHong knows it’s a setup and goes to the meeting instead. Jin RenFeng set up the men for his formation. What he didn’t tell them is they would be dead and he would be stealing their blood. I don’t even feel sorry for this group after all their talk of using the DongFang blood. They got what they deserved. But that Jin RenFeng continues to cheat death and cause more havoc
.is very tiresome. He is such a loathsome villain. ShiJi isn’t better. They both steal and run like cowards. I don’t know where the snow fox is. He is really the one to be careful of as I don’t see him letting a spirit alliance thrive alongside a human one. He still wants humans gone. The humans don’t particularly want the spirits to be equal either. It is a delicate balance and it remains to be seen if calmer minds will prevail.
