Late to the game and binge watching. Understand the need for drama and ratings, but don’t like the reunion couples that knew each other before. It seems very scripted and planned. I am glad William and Izaya reconnected, but William taking Bomi’s chance to run the truck in Ep 7 was just a dick move. They could have confessed in the igloo, the sauna, or the downstairs corner bench. Bomi needed the opportunity more than William.

As a mother of 5 who whose father left the household of his own choice, nope. She cannot dictate his feelings, reactions, or choices. My father left us, my husband would never. I don’t care about a reason or redemption arc. This child was scarred for life by the decisions of the “adults” in his life. My imagination is heading towards: he left for another man, or for a career. Neither justifies abandoning a child.

In defense of Jinn, he was forced to be “the man of the house” at a young age. It is correct to say she is not mothering in the sense that she has broken his trust by being dishonest. It’s one thing to say “I’m the mom”, but that conversation needed to happen a long time ago when she decided to take the dad back. Part of parenting is establishing trust. There is no justification for a man to tell his child, “you are not my son, call me uncle”.

Well…I stuck it out till the end. Hoping for more. Was it a happy ending? I’m not sure. The first 8 episodes had the same abusive cycle of blame, shame, humiliation, control, and reward. Hae Jun clung to the reward and forgave the rest of the cycle. Some scenes had him looking terrified or disgusted with the events. Example is being forced to kneel for staying late to finish a school project (blame, shame, humiliation, punishment). Jae Hun patches up the knee (reward). Hae Jun has to ask if it is a reward or punishment. I hoped for a fabulous redemption arc. We got, “my mom died and nobody celebrated my birthday”. The editing was horrible. But I pushed past.
