I think this all happened because the writers had to create this internal conflict (clan vs husband) and push the plot in the direction they wanted. The motivations were not entirely convincing, because at several points I thought that BiZhi had a chance to kill off Liu Yan and rescue Da Qiao. So it was sort of forced. In this regard I liked the novel’s ending much more, it seemed more in line with the motivations of the characters.

I personally disliked the breakup and the one year time jump because the breakup scene felt like a closure. If they are to give us “the happy end” to this relationship, then there was no need for this “moving on” from each other drama when there was only one episode left. At this point, I already said goodbye to them emotionally, and kind of had my heart broken over it, if you know what I mean. 😭
Their misunderstanding just got bigger and bigger.. Maybe if Ruyi just talked to Yuan Zou how Jiu became his disciple…

I might be in the minority here, but I loved this love triangle. Unlike in other dramas, here it served the purpose of teaching the second lead to love himself and others. It was a healing love that did not need to be reciprocated.

Wtf did I just watch? I binged the last 4 episodes just now, and they were ridiculous! There was no logic there, and I don’t mean the regular kind, but the cdrama logic. Seemed like the author was making up stuff as he/she went and just freaking packed the last episodes with action without much thought. I didn’t feel a thing for any of the characters, I didn’t care that the ML died either, cause it all was just ridiculous. The ML and FL kind of believed that they can make their destinies and prophesies were bogus, but in the end they were wrong. So what was the point? Where did this ‘god’ come from and how could he be trapped in a human body? Wtf? There were no legit explanations only raised more and more questions, the motivations of the characters were super shallow and I just CAN’T-DO-ANYTHING-BUT-RANT! I don’t know, if I sleep it off will I change my mind? Did this make any sense to anyone? Please help me understand.
P.S. but I gotta give it to the actors, they played their roles amazingly (especially Zhi Yuan as the possessed evil version).

My thoughts exactly, I was hoping for a kdrama cause I’ve loved the novel and the webtoon, and there is so much to explore and show. I’m afraid the side characters’ stories will be cut short and that there will be too little time for Kim Dokja’s journey 😣
