Uh, I felt that, time and commitment that a major point .... I can't say, it's not the same to me ... that was a positive aspect when we had the lockdown, there was plenty of time....
For that, I don't really have a specific tip or progress. In my case, I always picture it like a big puzzle and I always unveil piece by piece with time. Whenever I think, "hm, how is that going to be, or how does it come to this"... it always, at some point, just struck me by lightning and I just know. I can't even describe how or why it happens, it's just like a moment of "Aaaaah, THAT's how it is!" And the funny thing is, I may do laundry, be working or am shopping at the grocery store when this kind of enlightening happens. It's nothing I can control, so I learned to just take it how it comes. I mean, I started my recent story months ago, but I only now figured out, why my main character is the way he is. First I thought, it's just me not knowing how to write him, now I know it's just the way he is and there is a good reason for it. But I didn't know this at the beginning so I really was struggling. I like to make character profile cards, a rough plot lining and with my last one I even did a chapter summary (at least for the first 2 arcs, which is about 60 chapters or so). The more you are working "with" your characters, the more you will get to know them. Always ask ... these specific question of where I have no clue how they are called in English lmao But ask yourself - Why is he doing this? What motivates him? How would he react to ... this kind of thing? How would he respond to this or that? etc...
You don't have to go public! You just have to write it for yourself. The #1 most important thing ... just to have fun. You have to love what you are writing and have fun doing it, even if it is sometimes hard to do so. You don't have to please anyone but yourself with you are writing, for the sake of reading about the pictures in your mind :)

Same! That's why I'm absent most of the time, it's such a pain to type on the phone! I always wait till I can use my laptop, bc otherwise at some point I would just smash my phone out of frustration🙈

Exactly! I did start to read it and it is really good! You can taste the angst already in the first chapters and I really really really want to read more, but the possibility of this to be continued ... if there is no other translator picking up this novel we may really start to learn mandarin, bc MTL is just eye-cancer 🥲

It depends lol Recently I spend more time with drawing, writing and gaming, than I do with reading. Especially with working hours becoming more, I'm sometimes too lazy or too tired to do anything else. I feel you with the names! Fr, if I didn't had watched MDZS donghua, The Untamed and read the manhua before starting to read the novel, I would have been so lost! 😂😂 From all novels I've read so far, MDZS is the most confusing when it comes to names, I think. But 2ha has a lot to remember too .....
If you want to write fiction, just write. Honestly, I did the same as you! (Maybe I still do lol) The first chapters, the whole beginning, until you get into the story, it's the most difficult part, at least to me. But when you reach a specific point it flows itself. The story I'm currently on is on hiatus since I can't remember, a few months ig. That's because of two reasons - first, I try to get better with my drawing skills, so I can give it beautiful artworks, the second reason is, bc I'm a perfectionists and I'm never satisfied with what I do. For pictures it's not as bad, bc when it's finished, it's finished, good or not, it's done. But for a chapter, when I'm too displeased with what I've written, I delete it. Or change it over and over again, and with this I'm not able to get forward. And then I get writer's block and I'm simply frustrated. That's why I can only tell you to write. No matter what, you don't even have to start at the beginning, when you are (first) only writing for yourself. Start with the scene you want to write. And if it's not good enough or not the way you wanted it to be - it doesn't matter! You can safe it and write the next scene you want to write. At least you've written something down. At least that's how I'm trying to get something done. The only thing is, I'm writing on Wattpad, so I have to keep it chronological. The good point on this, you can get feedback from readers. The not so good point - it mostly takes time, before you get many comments - or even likes. My first story (which is on hiatus as well🙈) had at first only few comments and likes, but that changed after a while, after a certain amount of chapters was released and more people started reading it. Which of the two options is more to your liking, you can just try. Sometimes writing down stupid stuff, that seems to have no relation to any plot is absolutely what you need, to get to the point where you want to be💕 And honestly ... I never did basic course on writing or whatsoever. I'm not gonna tell you, to not to do it, bc that's up to you. It's just my opinion, but I think, it will not help you in the way, you may hope. In the end it's up to you. Btw you have to write to find your own style - or the style of the story. The most important thing about writing a good story, imo, is not a masterful way to phrase your words, but your empathy and understanding for the characters you create and the world they live in.
