I have a kindle too, but mostly for English books and E-books-only. Can't wait to stuff my room with physical danmeis though. I can feel, it will be a thing as soon as the first are published. Let me tell ya, I have almost 1k western books that I haven't read yet, bc I'm very addicted to books and used to spend most of my money for them, even though I still had a lot to read at home. Truly addicted! Now ... MXTXs novels excepted, I can't remember when I bought the last book lmao I'm proofreading for an author in the moment, but besides this, I can't bring myself to read anything else but c web novels. Western books just aren't that appealing to me anymore 😅

I'm not sure if I'm straight or rather Demi, but anyway. I found my way here thanks to MDZS donghua. I'm an Anime fan and I searched for recommendations similar to my fav anime (Hakuouki) and MDZS always popped up. So, it not only was my first donghua but also my first encounter with BL. After that I got hooked, I saw, there was a drama adaptation and that it was based on a novel. Since I'm a bookaholic, I needed to read the novel of course and after that I went to read the other novels of MXTX and by then I was totally ruined for anything else. It's just, as someone who reads a lot, western stories doesn't have much new and fresh, I mean, there are always new and great and original stories, don't get me wrong! But at some point at somehow you get the feeling, somewhere you've seen, read or heard this before. As well as for the complexity of storyline and characters! As ironic as it may sounds, but I have the feeling, that C-authors have no taboos when writing, there is nothing they are afraid of to write down and publish, be it ever so dark and twisted and tragic and ugly and uncomfortable. As for why I came to love especially Danmei, I guess, I like hot guys, and you have plenty of them in Danmei. But also, and ig that's the most important thing to me, the romance developed between two equal people, there are no gender roles, and the love feels more true, bc their feelings "seem" to break any rules. I don't know, if I did articulate myself properly, but I hope you get what I mean 😅
