I was confused at the beginning as well lol ... it's like this - this big pacific-rim like mocha is controlled by a (male) pilot with his qi. But male Yang qi alone is not enough, so they need the female Yin qi to be strong enough ... idk if you can compare it dual-cultivation, since they are just sitting there in the cockpit in the yang-and yin-seats and the control thing is a mind-thing .... I can't really explain about the mind-realm, English is not my strongest language, so I don't even understand everything 100% myself lol The thing is, when they "melt" their minds while the pilot is using the concubine-pilots Yin energy, the concubine-pilot is usually not strong enough from her mind strength (this actually get rated, so we get numbers to see their strength). Due to the lack of her power she gets usually lost in the mind-realm of the pilot and dies. That's why pilots have "harems" of pilot-concubines, to exchange them after the death of the former. But concubine-pilots have to offer up themselves and serve the pilot out of battle as well in any way he wants them to ... The first 20 chapters I've read so far are really good ... but I stopped there bc the TL is only halfway through and the last update was in June ... so ... maybe wait a lil bit before starting. Nothing is more unnerving, then loving a novel and then realise, you can't read further ... except you read the MTL one ... if so, you have my respect

I think the author wrote it even in English, but she is Chinese and the story is kinda a mixture of Chinese mythology and history, The Hunger Games, Star Wars or something and Neon Genesis Evangelion (I'm not a SW fan tbh and I never watched NGE, tho, but I know there are gigantic mechas ...) maybe even a lil bit of Transformers? Thats the synopsis: "The boys of Huaxia dream of pairing up with girls to pilot Chrysalises, giant transforming robots that can battle the mecha aliens that lurk beyond the Great Wall. It doesn't matter that the girls often die from the mental strain.

Gender role is written in capital letters here, I mean, no wonder, but even tho that's what I like most in danmei novels, in good books with strong female leads, like this one, I'm rooting for the main characters to break the rules. Btw ... it has the LGBTQ tag ....... bc the author wrote even before release, that it is a poly relationship. Not only has the female lead two boyfriends, her boyfriends are each others boyfriends as well! Since I'm a fan of both, danmei and reverse harem, I'm all in for it and very excited! And that's no spoiler btw, like I said, the author mentioned it beforehand. I'm almost done with half of the book and I love it! I like Wu Zetian, our female heroine, she is kinda bloodthirsty and wild, but seeing where she is coming from, I totally understand her and looking at her background, that girl is really strong and a rebel through and through! She doesn't try to please anyone and is not searching for anyones sympathy, not even the sympathy of the reader, but I like her. She is fierce and no damsel in distress, but recognises and accepts her power very soon. I love both of the male leads! Li Shimin and Gao Yizhi are both very interesting characters with something hidden beneath the surface. Not gonna spoil anything, but so far I can just recommend reading it, especially when you are a fan of Chinese inspired world-building and anime/donghua. It has 392 pages on my kindle app and is the first book of the series
That's the only thing I don't mind being spoiled about ... I mean, it's fine to tell me, if it's hea, but don't tell me if it's bad ending, bc that ruins all interest to read the story ... And yes, it is a very very VERY sad story T_T
Yes, they are even more lively. Besides, they are YOUR babies, so you care even more about them XD Not only that ... with time it will become easier to realise how it will go, bc your understanding will be clearer, for your characters, the world you created, the rules in this world etc ... it's a journey to experience

It's called Iron Widow and is a mixture of Sci-Fi and Chinese mythology and history, alternated into a parallel world. It's pretty interesting! I'm not a Sci-Fi fan, but I like it so far very much! Just imagine cultivators in Neon Genesis Evangelion style lmao
YES! That's the most important thing here! It can be like that ... but don't be fooled, as more vivid your characters become, the less control you have about the decisions they make. In the end they act the way and say whatever they want, if you like it or not lol And that can change your story as well ... even if you think, you know, where you want to go and how you will get there, there might be point where you realise, it really doesn't work like that. And that's what I love about writing, it's an adventure, even if you know more then a reader Xd
