This is a SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED DRAMA:) everyone’s just so good. I’didnt really connect to it until ep 4 or s. But I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s really a slice of life. I love how she is not “beautiful” but she has a heart of gold and she knows life isn’t always roses, but she does the best she can. And she is being pursued because she is so authentic and the more I see her the prettier she gets. I love her “me” of 17, you can see how much she changed since that time and how she just needed to believe in herself again. (the young actress is really good!) The ML’s are so funny and it’s sweet to see them both fall for her. I know who I’m rooting for but I could honestly see her with either one. I look forward to this each week and wish more people could see how good this is.. it really should be rated higher... the flow between funny, bittersweet, hopeful, romantic is so well done. Kudos to the writers:)
I wasn’t sure what to expect after watching ep 13 & 14, but here’s what I think, she had to learn to respect him and work for him because he came to her so easily,(he was too easy..he wore his heart on his sleeve- sometimes it was painful to watch how much he put up with for her ..)I know he loves her but in her own way she took advantage of that..just sayin...:)she needed to put forth some effort and see what an awesome person he really is and not take him for granted or treat him the way she did)
he had to be able to see that is ok with out her (even though he missed her he still pulled himself together and got on with his life ..also walked away from her ..that was impressive ) ...and also ..let her work for him. I think ep 15 kind of brought that into balance, they were more on the way to being equals in the relationship and he was much less needy/tooo nice/tooo accommodating....etc..really..(he kept saying it was ok.. Seriously...NO...please speak how you feel.......which he will now:)
the whole episode was about e everyone revealing themselves to themselves and others. I do wish they showed more of the chef and what happens with him,( I’d want to see him happy/off on his own journey too..) & interesting twist with lee Shin and lee Joo . I’m . not sure how that will work out but I think it’s A LOT healthier than it was before
I’m fine with ep 16 being a cute sweet romance, I feel better about them as a couple now bc she appreciates him so much more..and they both will be happier in the long run....
Now on to the next rom com.....I’m SOOO missing MR Queen.......
I didn’t really connect to this drama til episode 4-5. Then something really tugged at me and I really started to “get” the characters and their issues in life. (everyone is quirky but real:) I think the FL still looks adorable even though she’s suppose to look worn out and the 17 year old her is really Good, she’s got that part down perfect. The ML surprised me bc the dramas I’ve seen him in he’s polished and proper, but I like his quirkiness and he is growing on me. I love how FL is growing and changing with her younger me and the flow of the drama, it’s really very good.
I have a custom list for that type of crossdress dramas if you're interested: https://kisskh.at/list/73DnwRe1
LOVED your list and the fact that you wrote notes about them all:) I think you covered pretty much all the cross dressing dramas..(i couldn’t think of any to add) oh just thought of one..Ashi Girl...cute Japanese ..she goes back in time and pretends to be a male so she can protect the young Lord.. I now have a bunch to add to my list (TY) i thought bromance was awesome, she was very believable in the part .(Splish Splish was awesome too so funny !!) and the Taiwanese version of you are beautiful was my fav. Thank you for sharing your list :D
Ok..so I did not think,I was going to like this as this is not my genre.....but it’s actually pretty good. It’s not over the top, everyone is unique ..but real and the ML is low key .but interesting . There’s some good comedy, I knowing gonna get darker as we progress,.. .Kwak DY is so far very strange in this, but he plays it well, (loved him in “love in the moonlight”) I really like the Father who is the lawyer, he is awesome, wonderful actor. There’s quite a few notable actors in this one so I enjoy seeing familiar faces. The FL is going to see the light but I like her quirky edgy character..not all bad but not ready to be “all good” just yet.
Gonna stick with it.. I was having a hard time after Mr Queen ended but I’ll tune into this drama.. it makes me want to rewatch hyena again....hmm... maybe this is my genre....:)
This is addicting:) I’m up to episode 8 and I keep, saying to myself that I’ll go to sleep after the next episode and that doesn’t seem to be happening. Everyone is just so good. I love the group of people at work : the friendships hard work, all the stuff that drives you crazy and the way they do it is realistic:) all the leads are very good and the Main L’s have excellent chemistry. I haven’t skipped anything and I love that the episodes are 20 min each (perfect) I wasn’t sure of ML at first but I see he’s liked her for a long time.. so far really good:D
They probably should have made it a movie as opposed to 40 episode drama that is 2 minutes long..I started watching it and just laughed ..it’s very unusual and only takes up 1/3 of my screen..I’ll wait on it for now;D
Yeah, I still want to strangle her, cut her into hundreds of pieces, have her dismembered by pulling horses, anyway…
Oh my gosh !! You are so right. I’m on episode 4 and she is a sneaky conniving snarky b$#%&... draw and quarter her I say!!! Or at least break her fingers :)
I can’t find subs and it’s pretty late ... usually it’s subbed a lot earlier..anyone have any sites that have it subbed? Also If anyone needs word by world translation you can go to dramamilk.com. I’m reading the comments about wanting to learn Korean and there’s a you tube video called “learn Korean while you sleep” and oh my gosh..it’s so tempting!!!! LOL :D
I seriously loved this drama. It was not your typical rom com.. everyone was “real” and they worked and paid bills and went through the day to day..but there was such a warmth to this one, about family..even when you don’t have parents, and finding yourself when you don’t know who you’re supposed to be. I loved the leads and even though I wanted to strangle the 2nd FL I still really liked her bc she was true to who she thought she was..O(i absolutely loved her friendship with the FL...so funny!!) I’m a huge fan of the FL,,I like everything she’s done :)
the 2nd ML was perfect for Dan Oh in his own way..he knew how to draw her in but not look like he actually was.. his peacefulness and simple love & acceptance for her was her undoing. I think..
the simplicity of eating a meal with friends was something she had never done....and the ML was in the same place only he was able to learn sooner than her ..both rich and successful..but not connecting to others in an easy way. The writer of this is so insightful. I
I enjoyed this and loved the ending.. her family is absolutely hysterical:). I think there should be another drama about the one who didn’t get chosen by the FL.. that would be a lot of fun Everyone did a great job and you tell they were having a fun time making this drama.
Should I watch this because a lot of people are watching this and you guys say it a good drama?
It’s not your typical rom com, there’s a lot of interesting characters and the leads have great chemistry and develop a really interesting relationship. She’s definitely her own person but she is fiercely loyal to her family and friends. What I love is that neither of them are foolish in any way, they have quick minds and can figure things out, she’s not book smart but she is people smart... His character grew on me (he is very reserved with her at first) I like how they learn to trust each other and really form an honest relationship over time. I haven’t skipped an episode and that alone says a lot:)
really enjoyed this great article!https://www.soompi.com/article/1449350wpp/5-things-we-loved-1-thing-we-hated-about-episodes-9-12-of-mr-queen
LOVED the article, thank you for posting it..I found myself laughing out loud at the confusion with the letters meant for the concubines and ending up with the King, and the couriers confusing where they ere to go..I have to go back and rewatch!!! What I love about at his drama is its wit, awesome acting , character development..I could keep going on and on.
I was thinking today after watching ep 13 and reading the English translation of the episode, that it kind of reminds me a “soul retrieval” . (a soul retrieval is when you’ve had a trauma(s) and a person can’t seem to move on - so a facilitator comes in and helps that person come back fully to themself and heal then memories, hurts, issues fears..etc... so in the same way the queen tried to kill herself and her emotions/fears etc...and she locked herself away inside her mind . Then Bong Wan(man from the future) has come in to protect her and help her come back stronger and wiser, more independent . I noticed the last few episodes I don’t hear his voice in her head at all and also she is wavering back and forth between herself and BW..all the while learning to trust in her abilities get stronger fear less and not looking to everyone to tell her what to do. As BW works within her and with her, she will be better able to completely come back into her mind and body. She definitely seems to love the king as she goes out of her way now to do things for him and care for him.. So I wonder, if at the end BW will be able to go back to his time and become a better person also...just a thought...
