It would probably be difficult to add a rule that prevents the script from being changed after an actor signs…
His team must realize that continually linking him to weak projects will derail his career momentum. In time, viewer trust erodes, enthusiasm fades, and his marketability drops. The fact that this has become a recurring pattern means his management is actively failing to protect his career.
It really makes me question how much longer he's stuck with that incompetent management company.
While a character does not need to dominate screen time to achieve proper character development, his situation in RB was so extreme. The supporting cast receives far more screen time than he does. How can a character develop when he appears for only 3 minutes in a 45-minute episode? His total screen time is actually shorter than the drama's opening and ending credits.
It’s infuriating to watch him pour his heart and soul into a character, only to be sidelined by bad editing and blatant favoritism. We can't help feeling protective because we know how hard he works, but C-Ent's industry politics are just exhausting.
China really needs laws to stop production teams and writers from drastically altering scripts after actors sign their contracts. It seems to happen more often than it should in C-Ent. I remember a top male star just dealt with this, and his fans caused enough of a stir to push his agency to withdraw him from the drama. He didn't withdraw, but at least the production apologized. But that’s a luxury only huge stars with strong backing have. For smaller artists with weak and ineffective agencies, they’re basically trapped. They either swallow the unfair script changes or face a devastating breach-of-contract lawsuit.
I really feel bad for Zheyuan because this isn't the first time this has happened to him, and it seems like it's going to happen again with FS.
It also makes zero sense for producers to cast a male lead only to heavily favor the second male lead with extra screen time. If that was the goal, just hire the SML actor as the main character from the start. It would save everyone the hassle of script rewrites and keep the storyline from turning into a total mess. Case in point: RB and FS. 👀
I’m wondering why the NRTA hasn’t issued the distribution license for Chasing Dreams yet. My main worry is…
Can you believe it’s almost been two years since filming kicked off and we're still waiting on the distribution license? Or maybe they’ll just announce it the day before it airs, like RB. 😥😢
I didn't expect much from the drama, I just wanted it to pass well. It wasn't the best, but not a bad watch. We…
Te Amo is such a gorgeous track. Its deeply romantic tone would make it a breathtaking choice for a wedding song. If Wind Had Color is another favorite of mine. I think it's time for me to rewatch TWOT. 😅

He acted so well in The White Olive Tree that I completely ignored all the other issues that came with it. 😁
I agree that one of the problems with TWOT was its slow pacing, and their lack of good communication made me want to pull my hair out in frustration. Still, I think its soundtrack is one of the best in any C-drama.
Finally, RB has ended 😂😂 And yeah, just like we mentioned before, C-dramas really love to shoot themselves…
I’m wondering why the NRTA hasn’t issued the distribution license for Chasing Dreams yet. My main worry is that it'll suffer heavy cuts to its original 40 episode length. 😥
I really enjoyed this drama up until ep 20. Then it became utter trash. From repetitive plotlines, nonsense inserts…
Chen Zheyuan is literally the only reason I'm holding on to this drama. Even with limited screen time, he delivered a truly wonderful performance as Ying Gua.
If that's the case, no wonder actors keep getting stuck with overused tropes and concepts. They barely have any…
I completely agree. Aside from the plots you've mentioned, revenge, rebirth, and transmigration have also become some of the most overused tropes in C-dramas. I get why people enjoy them, but when every drama uses the same blueprint, it just becomes way too predictable. 😅
Also, I'm wondering. Has chen zheyuan ever play in a big budget drama? Has any of his dramas been heavily promoted?
Sadly you are correct. Instead of quality, the industry prioritizes mass-producing repetitive, uninspired plots, released month after month. It is baffling that a nation of over a billion people seems incapable of producing competent scriptwriters. 🤷♀️
And Zi Miao is right there on Sha Lou's left. 😅 There was even a scene last night where ZM forces a kiss on…
I will never understand how anyone can find forced kissing romantic or hot. People only tolerate (or even praise) it when it's done by an actor they find attractive, but in real life, that’s just non-consensual. You see this trope abused constantly in short vertical dramas.
The blind hate towards Hidden Love is wild. People throwing around accusations about DJX being a pedo clearly never watched the show, because calling someone that over a misunderstood plot point is way too serious. Luckily, the drama’s genuine popularity outshines the noise. It’s a comfort show for so many people who rewatch it constantly. I wonder when ZLS and CZY will collaborate in a drama again considering how well-loved their characters are in HL.
Why do Mango TV and MaoYan show different view counts? Mango is already showing well over a billion views. 😅
So true! Honestly, I get completely lost with all these charts, half of their names sound identical to me anyway. 😅
It's wild how C-ent tries to turn everything into a ranked metric, whether it's an unreleased show or character popularity. I wonder if investors or producers also take these charts seriously, knowing that these numbers can be manipulated. 🤔 Really appreciate you sharing these updates with us though. It’s great seeing the thread so active. ☺️
Today’s Reuters gave us Ao Chi and Sha Luo together... WOW! 🔥https://x.com/FloatingLife26/status/2086001763157754367?s=12Can…
And Zi Miao is right there on Sha Lou's left. 😅 There was even a scene last night where ZM forces a kiss on her. 🙄 FS is definitely leaning too hard into the love triangle trope. I'm not a fan of it, but since I don't trust 🥝, my only real concern is Ao Chi.
I have a feeling his next project will be a modern one. Since he said it wouldn't be an idol drama, we might be seeing a much less perfect version of him this time. 😁
It really makes me question how much longer he's stuck with that incompetent management company.

That scene was easily one of my favorites of his, what a fantastic actor. 👏👏
