As a huge Chen Zheyuan fan, nothing makes me happier than seeing C-drama viewers appreciate his acting. I genuinely believe he’s an incredibly versatile actor, and if you want to see that for yourself, I highly recommend checking out The White Olive Tree, Dark Night and Dawn, and Light the Dark (currently airing). He absolutely nailed every role, and his performance in LTD is on a whole other level. He continues to prove just how incredible he is as an actor.

I know he has a lot of fans outside of China, but I honestly feel he’s still underrated in his own country and deserves so much more recognition.

I seriously doubt some of these people even watched the drama before rating it. 🙃

I’ve noticed this too. C-drama viewers are so obsessed with romance that they can’t seem to appreciate a drama beyond its love line. Not every story needs romance to be compelling, and it’s tiring seeing people reduce every genre to their obsession with romantic subplots.

Exactly! Idol dramas keep romanticizing these problematic themes, and it’s honestly getting ridiculous.

What's up with people on MDL thinking Chen Shan and Chen Ying could have a romantic relationship just because they're not blood-related? I'm like, 🤮 WHY?! Do some people seriously watch dramas just for the romance that they can't even tell the difference between sibling affection and romantic love? Not every close bond between a man and a woman has to turn into a romance. 😭

There’s absolutely no romance between them. This isn’t some idol drama where adopted or step-siblings fall in love with each other. They may not be biologically related, but they see each other as real siblings. Their bond is purely familial, with the kind of genuine love and care you’d expect between an older sister and her younger brother, and vice versa. Not every close bond between a guy and a girl has to be interpreted as romantic love.

Kiwi being terrible at promoting CZY's dramas is nothing new at this point. The drama deserves so much better, but no matter what, I'll always be excited for anything CZY takes on.

Bracing myself for the heartbreak, but I'm SO excited to see Chen Zheyuan take on a role so different from his previous ones!

On what platform are they complaining? These types of fans are superficial. They jump from one fandom to another and only ever want to see him stuck in idol dramas. If these "so-called" fans are his supporters, they should be happy to see him grow as an actor.
