I think Mu-Deok's soul still resides in her body. She never left. It has nothing to do with 1 eye or 2 eyes. Anyway, that's my theory.

Haha, you're the one who originally started this when you watched S**ting Stars (I believe) on the TVN live feed. Unfortunately, the live feed isn't working for me this morning, so I'm probably back to bed for another hour. 😎

Well, if she's Mage "Royalty" - as in possibly lost Jin daughter - that works. At which point, the constant hints in teasers/publicty photos, etc that the Crown Prince is a potential third (or is it fourth?) wheel, will crystalize. From Netflix: "Now, he just needs to help her regain her true strength, fight off rivals [PLURAL] in love and war, and change his destiny - all in a day's work."

I imagine there is a reason for inadvertently ending up with Mu-Deok and there are many possibilities. And I think it's more than simply "similar age, gender and build". I think we will find out Mu-deok's identity NLT than Ep. 7.

Looks like a fun episode.

My schedule?
5:00 am (PDT) - get up, fix coffee, put the dog out, turn on the computer, fire up the VPN.
5:10 and watch the live broadcast (w/out subs) - enjoy the visuals and understand 1/2 of what is going on because the two main leads are stellar in communicating with their facial expressions - the exact words don't matter that much.

~ 6:40 am: make another cup of coffee; turn on the TV and wait for Netflix to release (usually a few minutes before 7:00 am). Enjoy my life.

I think there are two options w/regard to MuDeok's soul:
1. The shift/transfer did happen. She's dead and gone, never to be heard from again. That is not good news for Naksu, since she's beginning to lose her energy.
2. The shift/transfer did NOT happen and Mu-Deok's soul continues to reside w/in her body, dormant for now?

As Naksu's soul begins to "seep" out of Mu-deok's body, (and it IS happening since Gwinju recognized it), then what? I don't know.

I go for option 2 - the reason there wasn't a blue mark on the shoulder is that Mu-Deok's soul did NOT transfer OUT of her body. Just a theory.

Wait until the Crown Prince starts to eye Mu-deok in a more serious way. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

THE SCIENCE OF SOUL-SHIFTING - DRAFT

After Ep. 4, I promised a few folks that I would get something put together before the next episodes. This is a collection of statements made at various times by various characters on the topic of "soul-shifters" Constructive comments welcome.

As of Ep. 4, the Daeho “science” of soul-shifting encompasses a variety of separate elements.
A. Souls can be transferred between two bodies
B. Once shifted/transferred, a shifter is able to absorb/devour other souls,, at which point the absorbed soul ceases to exist separately (and the devoured soul’s body perishes)
C. It may be possible that more than one soul can inhabit a body (JangKang, Ep. 1 “A crack forms when the bodies clash with the souls [PLURAL] they carry”
D. Souls can be “collected” [Ep. 1 Jim Mu tells Naksu that “the soul you need to collect this time is Park Jin, the leader of Songrim”]

FACTS (not Spoilers)
1. There is a magical device called a “Soul Ejector” which is used for the “Alchemy of Souls”
●Jang Kang said it was required in order to transfer him back into his own body. Question: But what did Naksu use to transfer her soul into Mu-Deok’s body.
● Question: where is that device? What does it look like? Is it the golden circular icon at the very beginning of the title sequence?

2. There are many problems that arise w/Soul-shifting, including:
● If a soul is too strong and it enters an unbefitting (?) body, it cannot access it’s energy [Does this mean it is the SOUL that possesses “energy”???]
● Therefor, a soul may lose it’s energy due to the body it transfers into
● a soul-shifters energy seeps out of the body
● if a soul clashes with its new body, the body will turn into a rock
● “when a soul shifter “turns wild” it will lose it’s energy. The “wild” soul shifter can replace their lost energy by absorbing that of a human; If it is unable to replace that energy, it will become petrified.

3. Identifying a soul shifter;
● A blue mark shows that a soul has left a body
● W/in a soul shifter, there is a gap between the body and the soul; the evil energy seeps out from it and can be detected.

4. Best soul-shifting methods
● “for everything to go smoothly, a soul shifter should pick someone similar. Gender, age and build – they all need to be similar”
● It appears that actual soul-shifting requires water (water shown w/both the King/Jang and Naksu/Mu-deok.)

5. Soul Shifting can only be performed once one has mastered Jipsu, Ryusa, Chisu and ultimately Hwansu, a “god-like” power. According to Heo Yeom, only two humans have mastered this power: Master Seo Gyeong, the founder of Songrim and “someone else”

● This appears to be inaccurate – Jang Kang and Naksu performed it and they were not Hwansu. It’s not clear if Jin Mu performs the sorcery with his own power or uses the device named “Soul Ejector”.

Not a period-genre fan either, but when I saw that JSM was the lead, I started to investigate and was hooked by this video (an earlier version was released prior to the first episode):

She's aleady losing her Naksu-ness, bit by bit. She's a soul-shifter - her fate isn't really a positive one at this point unless the writers re-write what we have been told about the fate of soul-shifters.

The theory section is fun, but confusing with the multitude of theories on every topic under the sun. I've been spending my limited time re-watching everything to do with soul shifting and preparing a thesis on the "science of soul- shifting" for everyone's review and constructive comment. Hope to finalize early tomorrow (my time).

I believe she is Jin Woo-tak's daughter because his character description states "He's looking for his lost daughter." Based on your thoughts, perhaps Dad was a "Lee" - therefor Teacher Lee could be her uncle (?).

What happened to the older daughter? I don't know, but I tend to think it was nefarious since Jin Mu is half-brother to Mother Jin. Maybe he didn't like my ideal of the betrothal-from-the-cradle cuz it might mean a Jang heir? 😂😂😂😂 I really don't have a clue except certain outcomes make sense to me and others I would consider contrived and silly.

The only thing I am certain of is that Mu-Deok , as personified by Jung So Min, and Jang Uk are Destined with a Capital D to be together. 😊

So, putting our collective thinking caps on......in this situation, Teacher Lee might be related to eldest "Jin" daughter if my theory (that she isn't a blood Jin) is correct. I like this - very much. 😊

After re-watching the scene with Cho-yeon and her Mom (Ep. 3), I have a sneaking hunch that Jang Uk and the older sister were betrothed as children. 🤣🤣🤣

I also question if the older sister is a Jin. The character description says that Ho-kyung she has "affection for her eldest daughter, whom she lost when she was young. A FIRST-TIME [my emphasis] mother."

Plus, why do the character descriptions make a big deal about the fact that Father Jin gave up his original surname in order to marry Mother Jin? He must be from a family that is unrelated to any of Cho-yeon's potential suitors. So, he's not a Park or a Jang. Conclusion? He's either a Seo or from a completely different noble family.
