There's a good chance I am wrong, but my current thought is that Loser Lawyer is there for a different reason than to provide much of a weak triangle/romantic tension. WHO is his Mom? WHY did he move into THAT penthouse (funded by his Mom) recently (after GTS returned from Africa)? His secretary/assistant said something like: I started to work for you 3 years ago (hmmmm, there are a couple of other things that happened "3" years ago - coincidence?). If he doesn't need to work in order to "earn" $$$, why does he work with a celebrity-oriented profit company rather than working for non-profit?

As always, your analysis of love relationships is spot on.

Let me add a bit for you to ponder.

From the beginning, the "movie theater" is obviously a connection between ML and FL. But in Ep. 7 and 8, we discovered that it is their love of film/film-making ae a major connection. Movies were and continue to be an escape for both of them.

Apparently he never told her that he recognized her from their first meeting, but he immediately sat up when he recognized her during her presentation on the movie "Love Affair" and wrote her name down in his notebook with a ⭐. Then deliberately skipped a group meeting so that she would come looking for him.

I think he has valued their early friendship so much that he didn't want to dig any deeper and risk losing that connection, however tenuous. If he had simply treated her differently when he returned from Africa, that steel wall around her heart might have melted earlier. But then, we would have been at this stage in Ep 3, not Ep 8.

BTW, when re-watching first few minutes of Ep 8 on Viki, I noticed a fleeting comment about "idiots", re-wound and yep - it was a comment by "bloomingtide". 😉

We don't have a clear picture on how long GTS and Lee Yoon Woo (Actor Luca) knew each other, but it was clear in Ep 6 (?) that Ajumma Hwang Myung-ee and
Eun Si-woo (Mom) have a past relationship. Since Mom has been out of Korea for over 6 years, their relationship pre-dates GTS and Actor Luca being at Starforce together.

That being said, the "mother of dead friend" is a good guess.

Maybe she's the rich mother of our Loser Lawyer?? That's my theory.

Agree with you about the SML/love triangle. On the other hand, it seems much too early for Chawoong to be giving a ring to Seul Hae.

I'm unhappy that the 2nd couple is only on screen for about 2 minutes each episode. They are on the POSTER for crying out loud - when I saw these two "extra" faces on the poster in the first weeks of watching the show, I figured they must have a story of their own.

I need to re-watch the historical scenes more carefully because different viewers seems to have different perception of which characters were in love and which character killed historical Seul Hae.

I call him Loser Lawyer. His "wealth" is from his mom. He hasn't earned his wealth - he merely dabbles in his "profession" . GTS grew up w/wealth, but as far as we know, he has earned every penny since graduating from University.

I had the same thought re: Lawyer's Rich Mom - I thought it would be hysterical if she turned out to be Loser Lawyer's (that's my name for him) mother. The contrast between Lawyer and GTS is significant. Loser Lawyer doesn't need to work and he's dependent upon Mom (whomever she may be) for penthouse apartment, car, stylish clothes, etc. GTS grew up with money, but he has EARNED everything since then with hard work that requires long, strenuous days.

Lots of "coincidences" between the two. Lawyer's mother just happens to purchase the penthouse condo on the same floor. as GTS? Lawyer "just happens" to provide legal services to Starforce where GTS is their biggest moneymaking star.?

I became confused because all the flashbacks, so began to put this timeline together a few days ago. Anyone who wants to help fill in dates, PLEASE feel free to comment w/out mentioning major spoilers. (I consider timelines to be non-spoiler). To be updated as more information is revealed.

I have tried to locate information on how old OHB and GTS are – have assumed based on this history that they are both ~28 or 29 years old? [I will not attempt to configure for Korean method for age] Or are they older? I also researched “academic year” for Korea – standard is March start date (whereas USA is September).

SHOOTING STARS TIMELINE FOR OHB AND GTS
2011 - OHB and GTS first meet in theater before she attends college; (GTS enrolls in University?) [In USA, if someone is in the “class of 2011” that is the year they graduate. Is it different in Korea? This is causing major confusion for me!!]
2012 – OHB enrolled at Haesung University
2012-2016 (I believe, 2012?) – participated in the infamous “heart” photoshoot.

2016 – GTS and OHB Graduate from University together; both (?) begin association with Starforce
●As a “newbie”, OHB prepared the “eunuch” press release for the “Archeologist” movie; filming to begin in November of that year
●As a result, the Archeologist movie got over 10M views

2016 – Eun Si-woo (A top star, who represented the 90s and received national love and is called the legendary actress) married Pierre Morelle, (Director) from France
2019 – (“3 years ago”) Dating rumor with Yeo Ha-jin was confirmed.
2020 – March 15th - Friend Luca (age 28) dies
2020/21 – GTS leaves for Africa
2021/22 – GTS Returns from Africa; Eun Si-woo divorces husband and returns to Korea

2022 - February 10 – Lee Yoon Woo’s (older Luca) birthday

Which actor played the Evil Spirit that first appeared in the mirror and then stepped out of the mirror in "physical" form? At first glance, I thought it was Jung Joon Ho (Advisor Choi Gum) but doesn't make sense. The character/actor lists for this show are very vague across the internet.

Just going to add here that I loved Lee Yong Ryeol (young cop) singing to - and apparently impressing - our young little fortuneteller Cheon Ye-ji. I hope their story becomes larger/relevant in next episodes.

Before today's episode, I assumed - like you - that he was simply exhausted from all day filming. Plus he has been working out and is in far better shape than his manager. But today - the fever, and the housekeeper's VENEMOUS look (haha, that was the word that popped into my head) made me leap to the poison theory. But we will see, lol.

The music is "chopsticks" whenever he acts childish - so funny.

I love the young couple almost as much as the Main Couple, but they don't appear to have any backstory that is particularly relevant to the show. I was hoping they would show him taking her home and that there might be a bit more character development - instead, we are to believe that it was love at first sight on his behalf. I hope there is more to his story to explain why he was immediately smitten.

I always say - look to the Classic Stories for the two common love story plots.

1. Slow Burn: Elizabeth and Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) is example of the slow burn, antagonists in beginning and slow journey to final.
2. Boy meets girl/boy loses girl/boy finds girl again: Beatrice and Benedick (Much Ado about Nothing) and, arguably but not as happily, Romeo and Juliet.

I prefer the slow burn because it provides a continuing story arc. From the few K/dramas I have watched, if the couple is "official" by Ep 8 or 9, then it will be Example No. 2 - because something stupid will happen to split them up before reconciliation in the last 10 minutes of the series.

What time does it air (in Korea)? I might try to do this next week since the Viki Eng. sub is at least 12 hours behind.

We now know she is a shady lady, so I think she is poisoning him. She made a big deal about cooking with more salt - so no one suspects foul play. He has been fatigued for days (weeks?), sleeping whenever he has the opportunity, has a low grade fever. His stress level was off the charts - a total surprise to OHB.

Well, who knew (I did not) - that our young cop actor (Kim Hee Jae) could sing. I love main couple and second couple - enjoying the ride.

LOL - I guess I wasn't clear enough. I didn't do the translation. I copied this "English" version directly from the TVN site. This is their "English" version associated with the video preview at end of Ep. 7.

The "supernatural" power may be the seven (?) channels between heaven and earth. Apparently it is something that the Evil Spirit wishes to devour/absorb but it's not clear why.

I think he knew that was her desk (it appears to be the "newbie" desk).
