What if Seok Ryu overheard something from Seung Hyo's mom that made her start doubting if she’s good enough…
I had hoped to find time to re-watch the first 2 episodes to try and pin down some dates/events of that highschool/swim meet/university/accident time line.
There is a clear parallism between Hye Suk(Seung-hyo's mom) and Seok-ryu - competitive, ambitious, living out a "dream" that doesn't provide happiness.
For some reason, Seok-ryu "ran away" (her mother's words) after one year of college to attend Berkely. I have also wondered if she overheard Hye Suk say something negative about her and that's why she left. It's unclear if that scholarship was something she sought or if it arrived out of the blue. But now I'm beginning to wonder if Hye-suk noticed her son's affection/crush for Seok-ryu and manipulated something so that for Seok-ryu got that scholarship offer.
Silly me - I was about to go to bed, but thought I would do one last swing through Naver. A couple of sweet still cuts (the bicycle and cherry blossoms) but press release (pseudo articles) are too much "teasing" what may or may not happen in Ep. 7. I need a new pre-lease with some laughter. Good night from the USA.
I thought all of this was obvious. The timeline was actually pretty clear to me. I didn't know that people were…
Not much confusions about the timeline, but lots of discussion about what his feelings were.
The article(s) all say the same thing - he had a crush/special feelings while they were in school. After he traveled to the US, he buried his feelings. Call it "he fell out of love".
As far as we know, he buried his feelings, focused on and built a successful career and there has been no indication that he has thought about her the last 10 years.
https://www.instagram.com/p/C_e8pBFJM04/This is the pre-release for ep 7, so Ig he finally stops avoiding her…
I'm guessing that after her ex shows up, he recognizes it's not the best time to try and confess. Rather, he decides that if he really loves her, he will simply be there for her. And you can't get much more romantic than that!
I started to put together a timeline for the show and while researching Korean media came across several articles that describes the Seung-hyo/Seok-ryu “Unrequited Love Timeline.” The timeline is introduced by noting the “turning point” in their relationship which is (if I am reading it correctly – because pronouns are always difficult) SEOK-RYU senses that Seung-hyo may be more than a friend for herself. As we argue amongst ourselves about why Seung-hyo says or does whatever, the articles confirms: 1. After the swim meet in 2007, he realized he had “special feelings” (also described as a “crush”) for Seok-ryu. 2. He traveled to the USA with the plan to confess his feelings to Seok-ryu, but it was the wrong timing because she was dating someone. 3. Seung-hyo buried and forgot his feelings for Seok-ryu. (I know many viewers don’t believe this BUT THIS IS WHAT the production team is telling us!). However, unsealing the time capsule and reading his note reminded him of what he once felt. He tried ignore those old feelings because he believes she is still in love with her ex. 4. Jang Tae-hee forced him to acknowledge how he really feels about Seok-ryu.
So, the role of Tae-hee had one purpose as many of us guessed – to be the catalyst for Seung-hyo to acknowledge he still cared/loved Seok-ryu. Hopefully she will be gone soon. At which point the worthless ex will appear and serve the same purpose for Seok-ryu. My assumption.
LND nation it's romcom I don't think we'll get a sad ending but last thing I have to say about these stupid terminal…
Spontaneous nosebleeds are a common trope in Korean dramas. I remember when I first began watching kdramas, it seemed that they all had at least one nosebleed scene which was deemed to be stress-related but allowed the other person to come to their aid in a moment of tenderness.
Reading the comments about when the two main characters will kiss is a testament to the unpredictability of this…
Oh, let us have our fun. We don't "know" anything - just having fun with predictions/wild guesses. Nothing serious. I'm sorry if you are upset - but not going to stop having fun.
So here is my theory about her 1 year break and I am asking you to prove me wrong, bc I really hate it myself,…
Well, can't prove you wrong but if. . . BIG if. . . she has some sort of illness/disease/chronic condition, then rest assured There Is A Reason why Seung-hyo's father is a brilliant doctor/professor of emergency medicine.
Writer-nim is giving us a story where each character's history/story is interwoven with the other people in the neighborhood. There is a reason why Choi Gyeong Jong (ML's Dad) is a doctor. Not a lawyer or head of some conglomerate or TV personality - all worthy careers, but not what might be required when one of the characters (perhaps Seok-ryu???) becomes ill.
So now the watch begins for the episode preview where he's wearing a casual blue shirt and she's wearing pink…
The difference is that this poster has a title: "Romance". On the other hand, perhaps we will never see these outfits. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Prior posters were titled "chinchin" (and I have no idea what that means) but the WORDS were:
(Seung Hyo) "You are my. . . (Seok-ryu) "I am your. . . . . . "living black history" (fuzzy translation, but the theme of "black history" seems to be an element of this drama.
I know a very young man (<30 years old) who worked for a tech company in San Franciso (I forget which one) and he got a 6 month sabbatical and he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. I live in Microsoft Lala land and in the early years, employees who worked long hours/sacrificed for years and received sabbaticals. I also know many attorneys (partners) at major law firms who receive 1 year sabbaticals - some choose to teach, some choose to write a book, some choose to take their family overseas for a year. It's simply a possibility, altho doesn't really fit with the negative vibes implied by Chris.
Just one more "gap" in the story that we need to watch and wait to be filled. 😊
I don't remember them all, but frequently one of them grabs the other to make someone else jealous. Or, sometimes the couple if pretending to date, but must prove it for show.
I could easily see Seok-ryu grabbing Seong-hyo for a pretend kiss in front of her ex-boyfriend .

I really need to re-watch!

That's how it is promoted so uber-happy ending is a given (altho I'm a bit afraid of the health of the adults - but only a bit).

That's how tvN telegraphed different events in Queen of Tears, lol.
