I haven’t finished the episode yet, but am taking a 15 min break. But I don’t deny that Kang Tae needs someone to help rip open his wounds and help him heal. But my question, and cause for concern, is that really her motivation? And if it is, is it secondary or primary? She didn’t act on her whole “Kang Tae lives with me plan” UNTIL she found out he lives with Joo Ri. She felt threatened and acted accordingly. Along the way perhaps some healing was done, but was that her real motivation? Also the way she freaked out when he said he was going to leave was super toxic. It’s also a red flag to me that so far nobody knows about his complex relationship with her. Hiding aspects of a relationship is not a good sign of a healthy relationship. Of course nobody claims they have a healthy relationship, it seems everyone acknowledges it’s toxic to some level. But my question, like yours, is it going to stay toxic? At what cost is Kang Tae going to find healing? Will Moon Young show improvement in a realistic manner? It seems she’s desperate for some sort of warm relationship, but doesn’t know how to go about it. It’s really sad. I’m curious to see what the drama has to say about her mental health, Kang Tae’s mental health, and the logistics of their relationship.
So I had to pause due to homework, but I did watch the first 20 minutes of episode 6. It really just confirmed my opinion and intensified what I was already feeling. Right now I'm studying social work and I am debating to work with abuse victims as a career. Due to that I have been researching a lot of abuse cases. Moon Young is abusive, I would say emotionally abusive. When Kang Tae rejects her, she clings onto him demanding he has to stay. When he says no she threatens to kill him. When he still says no, the whole interaction with his brother, which she set up--happens. After he is beaten by his brother she tells him he can stay or go, but not to be fickle. She uses his brother against him, and triggers a fight that could have ruined their relationship (though judging from comments it look like it didn't). Yes Sang Tae has agency too and yes something like this was bound to happen some time. But Kang Tae had revealed his inner most feelings about his brother to Moon Young, and she used that against him--all so she could have the upper ledge of Kang Tae living with her instead of Joo Ri. She's emotionally abusive and controlling. Kang Tae is right, he already takes care of his brother, he doesn't need to take care of her too.
Now, with that said. people who abuse need help too. Clearly Moon Young had an abusive childhood that haunts her to this day. She obviously wants a "warm" relationship instead of just "satiating her hunger." Due to poor examples and social personality disorder she doesn't know how to healthily pursue that. She's a pitiable character, and I wouldn't say she's evil. But her relationship with Kang Tae is not healthy in the slightest. She is always pushing him to the breaking point to get what she wants. There are ways to help people confront their inner demons that don't involve being emotionally manipulative. I'm interested to see where the drama takes her character. She clearly needs help but she's clearly toxic too. What's the balance? How can the female lead find the help she needs, but also not break everything in her path? Is there help for people with antisocial personality disorder? I want to know what the drama has to say about these topics, and I'm curious to see if I'll agree. But as of right now I'd have to say the female lead is emotionally abusive and the things she does to Kang Tae are things I've read about and seen in abuse stories. Despite her crimes though, I genuinely hope our female lead can get a happy ending too, though I don't know what that is.

Oh yes! I completely agree she is a catalyst that reveals peoples inner motives. In a sense she’s good for Kang Tae because she helps him think about things that I don’t even think he’s aware of. But the way she goes about some things is very possessive. I have a best friend who is similar and helps me think of things I’m not even aware of, but she’s not possessive and doesn’t treat me like an object. I feel like what she does for Kang Tae could be achieved by someone else in a more healthy manner. With that said I don’t hate Moon Young, I find her character very interesting. But I don’t ship her with Kang Tae. I love discussing too! Thank you for the reply!
I haven’t seen episode 6 yet. But I just am having such a hard time shipping Kang Tae and Moon Young. She’s incredibly possessive and treats him like an object. Much of this is due to her antisocial personality disorder, but it still makes it difficult to ship. She’s using his greatest weakness justice to get him to live with her....
I wonder how this drama will end, will it be like a fairytale or be more bitter sweet. I'm curious as to how Kang…
I feel lol. I'm hoping they have more of a platonic relationship where they know how to get to each other and "help" one another, but I don't want them romantic. I don't really ship him with the other girl either. lol
I'm way behind and only 3 episodes in, but I gotta say something. I appreciate mental health kdramas so much. They really illustrate the pains of being a person with mental health problems, but also the caregivers/family and friends of said person. It really highlights the complexities and beauties of the relationship so well. I'm loving Sang Tae's and Kang Tae's story. The whole scene with his brother and the van was so well done. The initial flash of hurt when Sang Tae says "oh to an autistic person family is just close strangers" was so well done. And then it was finished off so nicely with Sang Tae explaining why he wanted the van, to make it easier for Kang Tae, and Kang Tae hugging him saying all he needs is his brother, but at the same time looking guilty, as if he needs to reassure himself that all he needs is his brother. I'm really enjoying Kang Tae's character, and I'm interested to see where this show will take him in the balance of taking care of himself and his brother too.
hopefully moon young's obsession is properly addressed. obsession is sometimes a bad thing, and i hope they don't…
Me too. Like obsession isn’t cute just because they’re attractive. I feel like I’m interested in ML and FL separately rather than together. They have chemistry but it doesn’t appear like they’re good for each other.
I kind of feel bad for Kang Tae he got no life but taking care of his brother and now he has to handle Moon Young…
Same I agree. Kang Tae has been taking care of people his whole life, and I’m not really liking the fact that his “love interest” is needing him to be her safety pin. Moon Yeong is an interesting character, and the actress is doing top notch acting, but I frankly don’t ship her with anyone. She just has such a hard time understanding other people’s emotions, and I can’t imagine her in a healthy relationship.
I absolutely adore Kang Tae, he’s a good mix of being a great guy but really relatable too.
I really hope Moon Young gets character development (sort of like Se Ri in CLOY), because she just feels so toxic. I can’t really ship her with Kang Tae at this point.
I’m hoping the writers go with the direction with Kang Tae realizes it’s okay to be stressed with the situation with his brother, and he should take care of himself too. I hope Moon Young can “out grow her child soul” and confront the pains of her past. It seems like she’s “forgotten” like the boy with nightmares, but does not feel happy.
One of the most beautiful dramas I’ve ever seen. The acting, story, everything was just absolutely outstanding,…
I have a question I’m on episode 6 or 7 and IMO Joon Seok is just straight trash. Is there any sense of justice or redemption? Because an apology the last 3 episodes and a smashed together arc doesn’t count...I don’t want spoilers, but was wondering if there is any sort of justice or redemption for him that feels real.....
The guy who plays Dong Soo is literally in every suicide versus murder drama. He also always has a complicated relationship with a teacher lol. Solomon’s Perjury, Nobody Knows, And now this!
LOL, I'm kind of a sucker for dEsTinY though. It's cute if it's not overdone or overly dramatic.
Same. Like it can be cute, but only if it’s used in a cute way. Like if they start saying “omg we can’t be lovers because of something that our parents both did when we were 10” thats sooooo annoying. But if it’s like “oh, you were my first crush in elementary school” that can be cute.
Hi does this drama have a little romance at all just wanted to know, love Sophie
No not really. I mean it’s hints that Sun Woo has a crush on Detective Cha. It’s hinted they might eventually be a thing. But one could argue that they won’t be a thing.
Hi, I'm curious about what you think of the ending. What do you think happens after?Btw, I like how it ended but…
It’s been years since I’ve seen this. But if I remember correctly the FL dates another guy, and then some time later meets ML again, and it ends there? I thought that the FL dates the other guy, and later breaks up with him. She found her dad cheated on her mom, and wasn’t ready to date someone she really cared for. I think she always cared for ML but wasn’t ready for her heart to be potentially broken. But by the end I believe she had grown more, and was ready to date ML. (I could be totally wrong, but that is what I remember thinking).
Three things that typically bother me in saegeuks, wondering if it’s here too.
1. The over focus on politics. 2. Wife is always psycho path, male lead gotta go after the childhood lover which will probs end in tragedy 3. Pretty much everyone is a psychopath except our two leads...and maybe one other side character
Are those cliches in this drama, they drive me crazy!
After seeing Eunho begging Youngjin to protect him and saying that he's scared... Damnn, he may be really mature…
I know! He has been bottling up way too many feelings since the beginning. Also not only is he 15 but he probably has PTSD too. I mean someone attempted murder on him, and he had to jump to save his life. This poor child. It's good to see him show his emotions more openly, instead of bottling it all up, like he did in the beginning.
