This is a traditional sageuk with 95% fiction. Some of the events did happened in real life but most of it were…
Firstly, I loved EVERYTHING about SFD; but to say that 95% of it was fiction is COMPLETELY false. More like 95% is non-fiction. If you take into account that the majority (not all) of the people did exist, the clan/factions existed, the murder/treachery/fighting...and A LOT of what happened in the story existed. Yes, with the exception of the things that they added for entertainment purposes. But, a lot of what happened in the show did happen...just not maybe in the order that we got it. Did it take any enjoyment or entertainment away from the story (the parts that were fictional); adding fiction is sometimes what makes it a story. I know for me after I saw SFD I really got interested in Korean history and started studying it....it is fascinating. But, it probably would have been a totally different story if it just presented the FACTS, and didn’t bother with entertaining us drama watchers.
I originally watched this live when it first came out...I thought it was so cute and I really enjoyed it, but dropped it fast as a MF once they did "blackface"....you get no support from me after that tomfoolery.
I am REALLY trying to give this drama a chance, but THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!!! I love the main actress in everything I have ever seen her in, but this drama is awful. I am 9 episodes in and for the life of me I don't even really remember half of the stuff that has been going on. I feel like I have been sleeping with my eyes open while watching it.....it's boring me to death. But, maybe it actually gets better....Lord knows I hope so. I will get it a few more episodes before I cut and run.
I absolutely hated how Cheese in the Trap ended...but even before the last episode it started going sideways. Just when we were all about Park Hae Jin and Kim Go Eun characters, that freaking piano dude started showing up more and more....then eventually Park Hae Jin was basically nonexistent in some episodes. That drama started off so amazing and had the potential to be so great (even if the webtoon is still unfinished). The lead actor got usurped by the second lead...we didn't get enough of the main (male) lead's back story. I got so disappointed in it that I stopped watching it, I didn't pick it back up for months (just so I could go ahead and finish it)....then low and behold I got slapped in the face with that ridiculously insane garbage called an ending. I am just hoping that the movie will leave a better taste in my mouth....although I will really miss seeing Kim Go Eun as the lead.
Side Note: I thought the OST for CITT was really good...that helped...a little.
just started watching and now i'm on episode 14 lolz... but really? su jin again??
LOL...that is the EXACT same thing I thought when I saw her pop up on my screen...like "UGH...here we go with Su Jin...again"....I really gotta stop referring to this woman as Su Jin
