Well, to be fair, they opened out the subtitle editor for fans to sub. All the other streaming sites took the subs from YouTube too. The wrong subs you mentioned will be on these other sites word for word. Since you seem to know the language well and feel that the subs are not up to standard, perhaps you can go try and to sub the drama and allow more fans to enjoy. If you want to that is.

@namopanik Most of the top rated dramas on douban are serious historical/political dramas. These are very difficult to translate and I assume hard for foreigners to watch because these need a little background in Chinese culture and history. They are excellent dramas but not popular to the general mass who just want to watch and enjoy dramas mindlessly. The current airing drama The Qin Empire 3 is one such example.

Also, most dramas that were subbed have popular actors in it regardless of the quality of the drama. For instance The Red vs The Disguiser. The Red is a better drama but is not subbed at all.

Well, the problem with Chinese dramas is most are not translated at all. The Glory of Tang Dynasty, Princess Jieyou, The legend of Miyue etc. are a few that comes to my mind now. Have you watched Singing All Along, The Imperial Doctress? I watch Chinese dramas without subtitles, so I have no idea which are translated, which are not. I really like Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Jin Yong's wuxia but seems like female international viewers are not interested in these kind drama?

@moondust I like Crystal Zhang! Without her, Go Princess Go would not be so funny! Read that they intended to get a Korean actress for the role initially. So glad they didn't.

Nirvana in Fire, Scarlet Heart Chinese version (so much better than the overhyped, overrated Korean version), Legend of Lu Zhen (love Zhao Liying), Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan, Go Princess Go (for the lol and silliness).

Zhang Vin(Li Jing) and Wang Xiao(Siming) dubbed their own characters. The rest were all dubbed by voice actors. Not sure about the kids though.

It's a Xianxia. MDL should add xianxia as a tag since this genre is getting very popular. Wuxia is very misleading to people who don't know the difference.
