Title Best Lover Spoiler
From episode 3 I can tell the male lead is hateful. He sacrifices an innocent person to save his ex-girlfriend who is already MARRIED. The female lead sure is not a nice person, but still, what he did is a new level of low. Wow !

Rewatched it and wow it's still one of the best. I don't like makjang, something simple, cute and heartwarming like this is perfect. No dragging conflicts, misunderstandings solved quickly, likable leads, no wishy washy character, no love triangle, hell...even the opposing mother-in-law is nice lol...and how often do you find kisses like this in fish kiss k-drama land?
Upgraded my rating to 10. It's not like I find so many dramas I like from first episode to last one.

@ 2nd time watching. Still think it's the nicest family drama I've seen, and still loooove Yoontae & Sangmin! :))))

Can't stress enough how uncomfortable I get when I see two actors with such a HUGE AGE GAP. They don't look good…
Is it a casting issue or is it because of characterization? Emperor getting new palace ladies, was emperor getting it with late teenage girls, whether he was 20,40, 60 or 80. Gross but the reality of the time.

Title Good Bye, My Princess Spoiler
I couldn't get into this drama because of those ideas.. but I think if I was in her position and loved him, suicide…
I agree with kshadow82. The best option for her is to kill herself because he makes her life worse than death because of the mental & emotional torture.
On The Story of Ming Lan Apr 21, 2019
Title The Story of Ming Lan Spoiler
Ming Lan is really an interesting character, very admirable female lead and really smart from beginning to end. I love her rational outlook on life, especially the reality of an illegitimate daughter with little backing. I'm reading the novel and she's even more fascinating.
Ming Lan loves herself more than she loves others, aside from her mom & grandma she only loves herself, because it's the only way to survival and peace. Her society is merciless to a woman like her so she's merciful to herself, her society hates a woman like her more, so she loves herself more, she will choose self-preservation not emotion, she will not compromise for a man, even less ruin herself for one, she can never put down all her guards, she cannot afford it. It's something Gu Ting Ye in the book finally understands but not GTY in the drama...lol
The drama is nicer though...it's lighter, more entertaining... but the book leaves a deeper impact. The story of Ming Lan makes one reflect on human feelings, emotions, relationships, choices and convictions.

adultery, you live in a country in wich the word "adultery" has legal weigh? wich country you live? mature doesn't…
Cheating and infidelity mean the same. Adultery is slightly different as it only applies to cheating among married partners. Your girlfriend/boyfriend cannot be an adulterer, only your spouse can.
On another note, I'm very surprised there are actually countries where they still stone people. @_@

I never like huge age gaps, I always feel the older wants to mold the younger and the relationship is not balanced/ equitable.
I dislike but it's not necessarily weird, however pass +10/15 years it weirds me out so I would avoid the drama, or if one partner is a late teen I don't like either. In Goblin that's one thing that bugged me. Besides I don't believe age is just a number, though I acknowledge some exceptions where chronological age differs from mental age.

Wow so interesting!!!
My favorite is general Choe Yeong. He's a role model to me. Even after so many centuries he remains notorious for his integrity, his abstemious and ungreedy character. He was portrayed in Faith by Lee Min Ho. His motto left to him by his father: regard gold as nothing but mere rocks. Who can do that in today's ultra materialistic society where we worship money?

Very interesting article. I am actually in the minority, I guess, where I hate obsessive females as much as obsessive…
"it seems people would allow more thing if the actor is handsome than if he is not" TRUE
Same in real life....that's how vain people can be lol

Very interesting topic. Honestly I don't like this type of characters, I skip their scenes. OLD...I hate it and at the same time it scares me and saddens me. I've had some characters I actually did not mind but still do not know why... maybe I was younger....less mature @_@
Anyways what bothers me most is that these behaviours are never labelled as what they are: mental/emotional dysfunction. I dislike when the concept "love" is used to sugar coat everything. I have yet to see a drama explaining obsession has nothing to do with love. It stems from fear, narcissism, trauma or whatever other psychological/emotional matter. It's unhealthy and should only be treated not tolerated and justified or excused !
As for yr last paragraph, I recall the target audience for dramas has always been and is still majorly women. The female ego/pride/narcissism coud enjoy the idea of a man obsessing over them, the other way around is demeaning. The viewer would subconsciously identify with the heroine, thus she cannot be the obsessive one.
The influence of images and visual/audio messages on our subconscious mind is undeniable, I find it worrisome how passive we can get with what we choose to watch and how misdirected we are, thinking we control the impact of these fictions on us. It's one reason I skip or drop like there is no tomorrow anytime I see something too extreme. I do not allow to enter neither my eyes nor my ears. lol I've become like this since Nirvana in fire: good is available so anything I find bad will just vanish eh eh eh.
