I think sound of drum means keep fighting. The soldiers will not stop fighting as long as they hear the sound of drum. I think there is another instrument for retreat or stop fighting.

I realized this too. But it's ok, I am mature enough not to be bothered by them. I've not watch Xiao Zhan or Ren Min's drama before. It's just my first impression based on the trailer. I might be wrong, which I will be glad to admit if I end up liking and enjoying the drama.

I've watched 3 of her writing, I can say this BFTB is overall the best for me. I couldn't finish Blue Whisper and I finished LBFAD mainly because for the ML. LY7x's trailer seems interesting and comedic like BFTB
