Scriptwriter can do whatever they want to the story. we viewers has no say, just like the characters in script. Each of us already got our script written (our fate, written by whatever God we believe in). Moral of the story is, fate is in our own hand, and we can change our own fate(script).

In China tradition and culture, they value family ties above everything. It's a big sin if you betray your own father (strangely, mother is ok), I learn about this in the drama Perfect Match.
