Just in case you haven't watched it, you should check out Boku no ita jikan! It's a japanese drama from 2014 that's also about ALS and they certainly did their research when filming it. It's beautifully done.
Do you have any recommendations on movies/dramas that talk about ALS?

This series sounds veeery similar to a Japanese drama from 2014 called Boku no ita Jikan. In that drama he does not die, so perhaps he won't. But it hasn't been released yet, so I don't know for sure

I love dramas where they have to play games to survive. If you haven't watched it, I really recommend Alice in Borderland, it's a japanese drama. The third season is supposed to come out soon. The only bad thing is that it's on the slow side, but plotwise it's immaculate
