One last thing about episode 18.I really need what happened to be about Xiao Chunsheng. Not about Guohua, not…
Kinda funny how all the XCS hospital reaction scenes you wanted were in ep 19 this is why we wait for episodes before complaining. Editing wise it just made more sense for the XCS centered scenes to start at the beginning of a new episode otherwise the pacing would have been interrupted by the credits scene.
I think the center is still XCS - it's just that people feel what has happened to him is unfair and that he deserves…
Sorry I wasn't trying to say you believed the story failed XCS or anything because I agree with your points above. I didn't even see his hardcore stans complain about XCS being passive or cursing YGH for taking up precious screentime this episode so I was really surprised here lol because the arc just started. Too early to act like XCS got completely forgotten. Every scene shown happens for a reason so I trust the writers

I am confused I just finished ep 18 and the comments above are sounding like there's no hope left for the show and YGH will take over the narrative entirely for the next 20 episodes-- there is so much yet to be seen and the previews show a ton of recuperating hospital scenes of XCS dealing with the aftermath of his injury. Is it so wrong to show what other characters are up to while XCS was busy recovering and how they are also impacted...
So, from what I heard Li Qin was actually in lockdown during the filming of this drama. I forgot what city she…
If she's in Shanghai under strict lockdown how can she film solo scenes at a designated hospital set in a different city??? There's stuff like rental fees and schedules the team can't freely do as they want
Really feel like people should stop focusing on rankings of FL, 2FL, 2ML etc. It really doesn’t matter in the…
Too true... I'm logging in after lurking here for so long because so many people are quick to doubt the roles the FL have to play based on billing/popularity. The switchup was not what I was expecting but if it works for the story they are trying to tell then by all means they should go ahead. And so far the drama has done a good job at integrating TXM into XCS life naturally and she will only play a bigger part after episode 18 so I'm looking forward to that arc.
I don't really see where you're coming from trying to pit FL and 2nd FL against each other. First it's good for…
I should also add that I am also a fan of both lead actors and was expecting Xiao Zhan and Li Qin's characters to be directly involved with each other romantically since episode 1 but we all know that wasn't what happened. So if someone's a Li Qin fan and wanted her to have the most screentime with the ML like most traditional dramas and is only watching for her parts I can see why it's easy to doubt this unconventional way of getting the endgame couple together but this drama is really enjoyable if you view it from a broader lens. But most importantly the story is still about how XCS decades long journey is shaped by the people he interacts with.
If anyone was watching this drama like me hoping it would be a story about the life of the two leads growing up together they will be disappointed on that factor, however the drama offers so much more than just their relationship I hope people can give it a chance. Like I said when they finally get together it will pay off all of the subtle sweet buildup the two characters had when they were just friends. Let them cook...! I was also blindsided by the FL being more prominent in the second half but I can also appreciate what the story is trying to do with the roles they've given each character. I also like how XCS's relationships with his partners are meant to juxtapose each other. With HHL it was more based on physical attraction but the cracks in their relationship have to do with growing up and it becomes difficult for both to achieve their career dreams but also consider their partner's interests in mind. By the time he gets with TXM I assume they will already have their individual development so they can pursue their romance from a more mature standpoint.
If people aren't down for a drama with two halves dedicated to different female partners then I won't blame them for dropping it.
Am genuinely curious Why did li qin(FL) accept this drama?!! Like it's doing nothing for her,her character is…
I don't really see where you're coming from trying to pit FL and 2nd FL against each other. First it's good for anyone who gets more exposure through this drama but pretty shallow to think Li Qin would just choose the role that gets her the most benefits and not consider other factors like connecting with a character or liking the script. I don't know if you have seen this comment section or any other discussion of this drama but the 2nd FL is being picked apart for clashing with XCS ideals so I'm very glad Li Qin gets to be the best endgame girl and the fan favorite because the story is really pushing for the current couple as a bad fit for each other for a reason so when the fan preferred pairing finally gets together it will feel very rewarding.
I like this drama for subtledly including the FL in the current growing up arc as a supportive friend so we can see how she was always there for him since the beginning but still also got to chase her own dreams. It's a stretch to say the drama is doing nothing for Li Qin I'm sorry you find her character the least interesting but her unconditional and support and understanding for XCS feelings and wellbeing is what sets her apart from the rest of the compound friends who have known him longer. At least with the slow and subtle involvement of her character it will make alot sense storywise for XCS to end up with her instead because I've seen many cdramas where side characters randomly get paired up with rushed development at the end because they couldn't get with the main leads.
Hateful? i don't think she is completely wrong, it's just they don't have the same thought
Really not that black or white like you said just different ideals and a couple not being a good match for each other. There's many people out there who would rather prefer the shortcut and dont want to let any opportunity go and yeah maybe she said unfair things out of frustration to XCS but both of them were just going along with their personal ideals and thought they were doing the right thing. This drama is good at showing different sides of humanity but it's almost like some comments here think everything HHL does or says in this military arc is automatically wrong and shes the villain. Definitely don't have to agree with her choices but she's obviously written this way to show not everyone can be morally just and idealistic. I love XCS alot too as a fan and want only good things to happen to him but people gotta remember that every interaction he has is a learning experience for him as someone experiencing a new setting, which is why I'm so invested in the characters and the plot.
Great review; very thorough. There's a second ending, if you haven't seen it yet. It's in a few links in the comments.…
My paragraph about the ending does mention the extra clip yes, hate that it adds nothing much except confirm WZF lived and Chen Yu is still a cop. I'm pretty sure the director just wanted to use it as an opportunity to make an action comedy short as it definitely would not fit in with ep 32. I also found it weird they decided to end their conversation midframe when a behind the scenes clip shows WZF wrapping his arm around Chen Yu's shoulder like best buds
