Is it weird that sometimes I agree with the Grand Priest. When I see Shi Ying going through so much stuff. . .I…
Sounds like overreaction-- not everything has to blamed on her for your convenience. Did you miss the part where Chongming says Shi Ying learned how to smile after meeting her I think that was pretty important for him to realize. Do you think she planned for Bai Xuelu to be intercepting letters as far as we know she had no idea there was political unrest in the palace she was never a part of. This "Shi Ying only suffers from Zhu Yan/ Zhu Yan can only do wrong" mentality is kinda weird she has already unknowingly done many things for him such as getting him out of his shell and solitude. If you really want her dead by Chong Ming then say goodbye to this drama even existing
Wow Zhu Yan vs the Qing assassins really showed how much she's grown over the two years on the mountain. It was a great scene to watch and now we can see she's better at holding her own when Shi Ying is not available. Nice to see more Merfolk lore through Zhi Yuan... stuff is definitely going down with the Qing siblings. The rooftop flute scene was really cute, once again they nail those subtle sweet moments to show their budding relationship just like the teatime scene in episode 15. I MEAN Shi Ying really accomodated to her plan to celebrate with alcoholCan't believe they were fated to choose the same artifact and come up with the same name, I can see the start of Shi Ying's inner turmoil the closer they get hehe
Someone please get freespeech to stfu. If they're gonna say the drama is the same shit nothing new I can also apply that to the comments they make over here
Exactly, this is technically a "forbidden" relationship and Shi Ying has sworn an oath to serve the gods which…
Yes I love how he was touched to find out how much he impacted someone's life even though they only met for a brief moment but dare not to base his whole reason for falling on that alone because he has been established as someone who believes in duty over everything else. To really change that core value of him that the show has emphasized repeatedly SHOULD take alot of events and trials which will make their love story more impactful. Apparently novel readers have said his motives for falling were not too convincing so the drama must be trying to fix that. After all the point of their relationship is that with their reality and destiny they should have never fallen in love with each other but they are unable to avoid their feelings.
I mean people are free to not feel chemistry when both characters are older and can freely be together but at this point in time when this romance should be a nono the gradual progression is in line with what the show has set up so far with the plot and characters
I do not get those that say the two don’t have chemistry. Are we watching the same drama??? I’m genuinely…
Exactly, this is technically a "forbidden" relationship and Shi Ying has sworn an oath to serve the gods which he trained years for. And before that he saw her as the annoying girl who kept trespassing into the valley and also then later confirmed to be the girl in the prophecy who he thought would never come back after the stargazing ceremony. Plus he has been cut off from outside civilization for so long which is why DSM was banking on him to fall for young pretty Bai girl. It would not make sense for Shi Ying to NOT resist falling in love and breach his master/disciple relationship so early on his interactions with her. I believe that it's really important to show that he has a really concrete reason for going against his priest oath and by that I mean the number of times Zhu Yan moves his heart with her selfless actions. My take on their relationship is to be patient with how the drama wants to show their progression because the pacing makes sense with the previously mentioned constraints and also his characteristics the show established since the beginning.
Really love the scene with Shi Ying and Da Si Ming in his quarters. They were butting heads during the duel and the library but Shi Ying still showed so much compassion and gratitude towards his shifu and wanted to commemorate his birthday. Telling DSM to live for himself was heartbreaking especially when he didn't want Bai Yan and Shi Ying to be forgotten forever. Really shows how capable Shi Ying is on his own as the new head priest. Thank god he stepped in when Da Si Ming was trying to do some kind of hazing ritual for Zhu Yan.
Can't wait to see their relationship deepen after she becomes his first disciple (take that DSM and your plan!!!) I saw the previews for 15-16 and theres so many sweet and cute moments shown in the original trailers
Thank god they had a way to take out his poison with a throwback to the Stargazer Ceremony arc to show that Zhu Yan can think of solutions lol. Not Shi Ying overhearing DSM's grand plan right there though that is so awkward but must be heartbreaking to learn. Loved seeing his various reactions to Chongming's antics and drunk Zhu Yan. These eps showed that Shi Ying has more expressions and emotions to his strict upright demeanor, his exchange with Chong Ming was sooo funny he was already suspecting and threatening him. I ALSO LOVE how he realized he wants to correct his ways for being harsh on Zhu Yan in the past, that's so sweet. Just thought that it was funny to see these kids drink their sorrow away no thanks to BXL being a snake. It's not a cdrama without a drunk FL spilling her inner thoughts to the ML am i right. Well now that Shi Ying heard everything there's no way she'll get that first disciple spot now haha. The episode 11 scene with Shi Ying and Qing Gang was so good, love that he turned it into a life lesson for him even though QG mission was to poison him, but QG corrected his ways by keeping his identity a secret and reflecting. So sad that he fell for BXL's peacemaking since he has a soft spot for her. Really like the pacing so far there were many good moments in 11-12. Xiao Bai is the cutest
I really couldn't stand Bai Xue Lu in the beginning but her interaction with Qing in the water was really really…
Apparently her character is being fleshed out for the drama only so who knows if Qing Gang even had the same role in the novel or if they even got together
Why isn’t Tencent doing any promo for the drama? No press conference, no photoshoots etc. all they do is press…
Seeing how much traffic its gotten since the release date Tencent probably feels no need to do the extra promotional stuff that requires them to coordinate schedules with the actors. Also need to consider actor/cast availability or priorities because I think Ren Min and Wang Chu Ran have their own recently filmed dramas airing at the same time as this one and XZ will most likely not show himself in public much now that he's going to start movie filming soon. I'm mostly leaning towards the first possibility though. I've seen alot of his drama releases and it seems that besides Douluo Continent, he hasn't done promotional photoshoots since then and it's usually the supporting cast that participates in them. Could also be a personal choice too of his who knows.
*Edit: does anyone else feel like the more delayed a drama is, the less promotions they get with the actors? Maybe if this drama aired Summer 2022 we would have gotten more but it's so hard to get dramas airing on time these days.
Regarding people calling the female lead annoying. This is my opinion but I feel that her character will improve.…
Spot on, they are already showing us her subtle changes in understanding her place as a disciple in training and he didnt make her feel inferior for being behind the others. She knew to thank him for getting her out of the Chaos despite the means he had to use and the tattoo punishment was fitting for her stubborn nature lol.
Alot happened in these eps that set up what is to come. I liked how their escape from chaos scenario showed the developing trust between the two leads as it was ultimately her trust that got him out of there even when he just said the meanest things to her face. Also Zhu Yan is getting better at overcoming her prejudice towards Shi Ying, which was the right step in her becoming a developed protagonist. Shi Ying is still as sharp tongued as ever but he is serious about his job as a shizun and I like how he is understanding towards her being behind in the basics and is willing to help her catch up to the others. I can see Zhu Yan is less hotheaded now that she took his feedback and lessons seriously for her own sake.
Really interesting to see things heat up between Shi Ying and Da Si Ming with Shi Ying trying to not raise any suspicions while DSM is right on the nose about his relationship with Zhu Yan and now even got BXL to be his spy. Good for Shi Ying to stand his ground that other people's lives shouldn't be taken so lightly especially under his jurisdiction. I liked the comedic moments such as Zhu Yan getting blasted away, Zhu Yan receiving a fish as an award, Chong Ming's vanity, Zhu Yan's new tattoos, the students putting words on their clothes. It seems like she will be very helpful in getting him cured from the poison, which will strengthen Shi Ying's faith in her abilities even more. SOMETHING seems to be going on with this God of Dragon Zhi Yuan is sensing, I wonder what that god means to his people. Looking forward to the silly and lighthearted scenes between the two because they entertain me. I also wonder how things will go between Qing Gang and BXL since she's been requested to monitor him.
Wait so is she actually the reincarnation of her great grandma???? That is going to be so wildddd. I mean i watched…
I'm only a drama watcher but I think we were only shown HE loved her and we dont know how she felt yet. Maybe it is just like Da Si Ming and Bai Yan-- he loved her but she wanted to marry the emperor and therefore had Shi Ying and later had the priest take care of her son. So her great grandmother could have had her own family already out of duty as clan leader, which is why she entrusted her clan for him to protect.
I mean people are free to not feel chemistry when both characters are older and can freely be together but at this point in time when this romance should be a nono the gradual progression is in line with what the show has set up so far with the plot and characters
