On My Mate Match Jun 9, 2025
I saw this. Done.
I don't know what was I expecting, tbh. The thing is, as soon as I realized that the sweetest, nicest and hottest one was about to be heartbroken, well, it became even more painful to watch.
Big (Ryu), come here. I'll take care of you 😍

Not good, not bad.
Mos & Bank's chemistry is undeniable, but even great chemistry feels kinda off when the writing is below average. Lots of plot-holes and nonsensical scenes or details.
The resolution was amateur-ish and unrealistic, and I am not talking about the "fantasy element". That's the most coherent part of the show, which is weird and sad at the same time.
I liked Salin's and Sun's family dinamics. And I also liked all the couples, even the two funny guys. There was plenty of time to get a deeper view of them all, but they chose not to. Again, sad.

Not amazing, not bad. It was a little boring at some moments, tbh.
The ending was "meh". I certainly didn't like it. The fast forward was misused in my opinion, because it clarifies nothing. Did he go to Russia? is he not a director like in the dream? Is the father still around, will he be a problem?
I actually don't need an "open" or "kinda happy in-the-future, maybe" ending for two characters that weren't honest with each other. All it took for them to be good was to speak truth. The could have even plotted some crazy way-out, but together.

Qi Xiao: "Hey, my hand broke trying to protect you. I cannot take the exam tomorrow"
Qi Lu: "Hey, my dad keeps abusing me and he's threaten me by interfering with your university entrance. I guess the threat means nothing, now that your hand is broken".
Qin Xiao: "Hey, I have nothing left in here for me"
Qi Lu: "Hey, my mom wants to help. Let's get out of here".

Sometimes, the easy way is the best way.

I had fun watching this! The plot was kinda goofy and unrealistic, but entertaining no less.
The acting & chemistry between the leads was great. I just love a BL couple acting like a real couple during the early stages of the relationship, all cute and sweet (instead of the stereotypical portrayal of two guys who cannot even touch hands indoors, without being jumpy or awkard). There was something about the little kisses that I found endearing.
For me, the big brother (Bai Zhou Guo), was chef's kiss. I wanted to see more of him. Such a nice, caring and good-looking dude!

The story was interesting, but messy. Messy. Messy.
It was funny at times, but it felt overall too long, which is not ideal.
On I Am Your King Season 2 Jun 6, 2025
The plot was fine and interesting enough, and the 4 ML's acting was actually good. There was some WTF moments (dialogs, reactions, close-up crying), but I blame the script and directing, not the actors.
The pacing and editing was awful. The most important scenes were all cut when it was about to get interesting. Most of the time I was saying: "OK, but what happened?".
The first half of the show leads you to nowhere. Sure, it established the attraction from Sib to Pun, and the we'll-never-know-why love from Pun to Sib. But that's about it. There was no sense of progression. Their interactions felt natural, but their chemistry as a couple-to-ship was simple not good enough. Again, because of the script. Way too much unnecessary long scenes.
I'm not gonna lie, my first impression of M (the character) was not the best. But in two episodes I kinda understood him, and rooted for him. He wasn't mature enough, but he has a good reason: He's just 17 years old. However, he showed more self-awareness and guts than his twenty-something years old brother during the entire show.
I think M & Pun as a couple, even if we keep the reason why they get together, it should have been sooner in the show, not in the final episode. But again, the pacing was awful.
The ending was so rushed that I don't consider this a happy ending. It felt like the circle was about to start all over again. Time jumps, in scenarios like this, are no good. We don't even know if Sib got his sh*t together.
BTW, the kissing scene between M & Pun was more passionate than the kinda-NC scene between Sib and Pun. One more reason to not root for Sib & Pun.
The plot & setting was kinda interesting, and I really don't mind the ending.
The acting and editing need some work, but it wasn't bad. The music was a ten.
What bothers me the most is how unattractive Jed is, as a character, personality-wise. Which is why I didn't connected with him. In fact, when the doctor says something like "you should get your head check out" I laughed and said "hell, yes!".
On The Director Who Buys Me Dinner May 31, 2025
I had fun watching this. The acting was great, and the plot was quite interesting.
If anything, I'd say the length was too short. It needed some extra minutes to get a better understanding of how this whole situation works.
I don't mind the ending. There's only 2 options, both having the same resolution.
On Secret Relationships May 29, 2025
I was fairly entertained with this show.
The plot was "same-old"", but with some nice little twists in there that made it really fun to watch. The 4 ML's acting was great.

I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE! I mean, Su Hyeon can (punch) knock on my door anytime. I'll be his healer and savior.

I actually enjoyed it. I binge-watched this, so it didn't felt slow.
It could've been better without some of the same-old missunderstandings, or the typical "we didn't let you know for your own sake" bs, but I was quite invested in both couples. So, I would absolutely watch another BL with those guys and, hopefully, a better script.

Great chemistry, great acting! ...but the story is "meh".
I was expecting something different or groundbreaking, but it wasn't. By the end of the day, it's just the same old story, just in a different setting. Same old conflicts, same non-realistic resolutions.
I didn't hate this, but it doesn't live up to the hype (for me).
On Something's Not Right May 16, 2025
This should be renamed to "Speak your mind, get the reward", and 3 episodes would have sufficed.
I didn't hate the acting, I just disliked the script.

I struggled so much while watching "Love With Benefits". No kidding, hardcore struggle. So, here I am, prepared…
OK. I finished this today. It wasn't good, but it wasn't worse than LWB.
Positives:
1) I can see lots of improvements in Gameplay's acting. That was nice. Or maybe I'm just biased because I like the guy. I'm not sure. Still, his performance felt more organic this time.
2) If there's anything I really liked its the "meta plot" concept of Love With Benefits being a prequel about both ML actors preparing for their roles in this series, which is made very clear by the whole lots of references to LWB: cameos from "Usani" (the pet rabbit): the literally "First & Play" names drop; or the "wait for me" rehersal scene that was taken out straight from the script of WFH into LWB.
3) The plot itself was kinda cute. Having said that, the writing was problematic.
4) I liked Ohm, Nammon's character. He was pushy, that's for sure, but I liked his I'm-All-In attitude. I was more frustrated by Dee at that point, and his inability to speak his mind. Once he does speak without hesitation, Ohm inmediately steps back.

Negatives:
1) I felt like it was such a waste of build-up & time to delay the main couple's interaction until episode 3. A move like that could be highly questionable in a 12-ep series. In a 7-ep series, it's just wrong. This creates some issues, like: (A) When they said "I love you" for the first time, it meant nothing, really; (B) They where together for one week before being forced to break up... and we didn't even get to see any interactions during that week.
2) There was a time jump of one month (according to subtitles), but after the so called skip in time they were still talking or doing things like if it was the day after. That made no sense.
3) This is a BL, so I understand the agenda. However, the viewer doesn't need to be reminded that "every couple is normal" every 5 minutes. Too many speeches about equality in a show that is supposed to be entertaining. That's no fun. As a director or a screenwriter, you need to show how normal it is, not just talk about it non-stop.
4) When the main setting of a show is an office, there's no need to set up all of the employees in a relationship with a colleague. It's a mess. It's unprofessional. Here, we got 4 couples in a universe of 11 people. Two is more than enough! They can all have relationships outside work. Work is not high school.
5) Hitting your grandson, even in 2022, should have been a point of no return. Series should stop normalizing violence in between family members. At the very least, it should've been the moment Dee finally realizes he needs to get out of that situation.
Getting hit for a second time... well, that's the time to get the police involved or make a big scene. All it takes is one livestream to socially kill someone nowdays, specially those who relies in "honorability" to make money. Now, that's when I would have used a time jump, giving the agressor some time to crawl back asking for forgiveness; and showing Dee & Knight having a somewhat common, even hard, but happy living by themselves.
I don't know. Maybe I'm too petty. I'm not sure.

So, here I am, prepared for the worst! zero expectations, yet giving this couple a second try. I mean, it cannot be worse than LWB, right?
