Well, I think you have to remember that up until then he had never left dragon valley. He had never met a woman, so I think it just made him really naïve and innocent. It’s one of the reasons why I think that his “love” was just a shallow imitation because he didn’t know what true love was. Because to be honest like what I read from the responses is that she never actually really showed him any true affection she never really let him physically touch her.
