Yeahh, this is fiction after all so we won't know for sure until they show us the plot lol! I'm really intersted as well how this will turn out and how they'll handle it in the show. Also, it's really cool that you're interested in psychology and that you're studying on your own. I'm a biology student who's interested in neuroscience, and though I can't say i'm that interested in psychology on it's own, i take interest in psychological issues caused by physiological and anatomical changes of the brain and making connection between them, such as how brain damage, or disturbance in the brain development can affect psychology.
Multiple personality disorder is my favorite thing to study in psychology, because many deny its existence, while…
This theory is interesting but i don't think in Solar's case its the multiple personality disorder, but rather age regression disorder. They can be similar, they are both dissociation-related and a response to a traumatic event and show similar symptoms, but age regression is a different disorder on it's own. Multiple personality disorder is a chronic mental health disorder that more often than not don't have specific triggers and it needs a long term medical care since it can severely disturb the person's daily life and it involves spontaneous switchs between different personalities. Meanwhile age regression disorder is often temporary, and it is caused by a trigger.
For multiple personality disorders, the two or more different personalities exist completely independently, but in age regression case, especially if its coupled with amnesia caused by a brain damage from the accident, the person adopts memories and personality from the time when they were a child. They are still the same person, but just a child version of them. It's more like a behavioral shift, while inside it's still the same person. Sun and Solar are still the same person, the same personalities. This level of dissociation is not chronic enough to be an alter as in multiple personality disorder.
But again, I might be wrong so lets see what happens lol.
