Haha, I am also fine with this, it clearly set the expectations with the synopsis, donno some are expecting a…
Maybe people were expecting a deeper story, but the strong point is clearly the action and the coreographies, also, very iconic villain, it's been a while since I felt this sense of hopelessness where nobody is safe.
I cannot explain into words how much it makes me happy seeing Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Suda Masaki working together, for me Kiyoshi Kurosawa is the biggest director alive and Suda Masaki is my favorite actor from the 21th century.

Basically it starts with the protagonist, who is a tennager boy insecure about himself that is bullied in school, but he is really passionate about motorcycles and wants to take his motorcycle license. In the Driving School he meets a girl who is also passionate about motorcycles and he starts to fall in love with her.
That's the beggining, it sounds wholesome, but as the story goes on a lot of sensitive topics will be approached and some things will happen, but some of these things don't have any impact in the story and just exist.
I don't mind doramas that approach sensitive topics, but it's really infuriating how the author writes a really heavy event and just pretend it didn't exist.
The Tetsuo Kurata of the Heisei Era wouldn't ever do a Kamen Rider again
No offense to Odagiri Joe, he is a great actor, but if I were a Toei's producer and I had in my hands an A-list director and a huge budget to spend, I would not even think about giving the main role to Odagiri Joe.
As for example of the new Black Kamen Rider, where Nishijima Hidetoshi is doing the main character and in my opinion is one of the best japanese actors in the moment.
The bullying isn't important overall, so only in the beggining it have focus. That's what I can say without giving spoilers.
