simple story with some significant societal themes
It's a very cute, wholesome, and cozy series. Both seasons together is pretty binge-able and short, but it tells the story it needs to. It's a simple and sincere slice-of-life type series that's just very endearing. Just two women sharing meals together and slowly establishing a relationship. No big or dramatic moments. Overall, this series was a cute watch, but also touches on some more important topics like Japanese society's expectations and pressures. Seeing all the different food they made also made my mouth water and stomach yearn. I don't really have too much to say about it other than I liked it, so this is just a very short review.

LIKES:
-- The vibe is very down to earth and sweet. It feels very realistic and endearing. Very chill and lowkey
-- Love the development of our leading ladies' relationship. The progression feels very natural.
-- Food looks very aesthetic and delicious.
-- The series is cute but also brings awareness to some societal topics
-- The second season also gives some focus on some secondary characters including a character who struggles to eat with others, in contrast to our leads who enjoy eating together. I like that they include Nagumo and are also considerate/thoughtful of her, not pressuring her to eat with them.
-- I like that the ladies could open up and be honest with each other without judgement.
DISLIKES:
-- My only slight dislike is that their relationship still feels very polite and formal even though they are comfortable with each other. They just talk very nicely. I understand it could just be a mix of their personalities and it being a new relationship, but the best way I can describe it is that there's a disconnect for me in their closeness versus the politeness in the way they talk. I do think Nomoto is a little better at being casual though. If there is another season, I'd like to see the formalness break down even more.

● NOTE
-------------------------------------------
I'll always conclude my review by saying that ratings and reviews is not really a indicator of whether you may enjoy something. We all have different criteria and standards. Don't let a bad rating, review, or comment discourage you from watching something. My advice will always be to give something a chance if the premise interests you, and only use the ratings/reviews to determine priority if you have a list, or if you're deciding if you want to continue it due to time limitations.
