i’m actually so disappointed i don’t know this one cause i’ve looked at his hair so many times and still…
Haha, thanks for comforting me! But I have do have a reason to feel sad because I've actually admired his hair many times and have screen shotted many into my camera roll, and yet still didn't know the answer lol. Really enjoy these questions though haha, what a fun way to boost up comments!
Okay dude, I am going to try to answer your comment as neutrally as I possibly can. I actually lost brain cells…
A hypocrite is someone who says or does something that contradicts their stated feelings or actions, which I did not do whatsoever ever. I never said that you couldn't voice out your own opinions, in fact I enjoy constructive criticism and have had conversations with others about TLB. However, your comment wasn't constructive, but was rather baseless and appears as if you were just hating on the drama and discrediting the hard work of the cast and crew.
I believe that my state of mind is very healthy thanks for your concern. But when someone goes out of their way to comment hateful and degrading comments about something/someone that I like and discredit their hard work, of course it would anger me to fire back a heated response. For example, you wouldn't like it if I went to the forum of one of your fav dramas and just typed out a whole post filled with groundless criticism.
Not only did you discredit the work of these actors and the crew, but you also invalidated the feelings and opinions of others on this forum who had wholeheartedly enjoy this drama by saying that we only enjoy it because of the "good looking cast" and our "overload of hormones."
Finally if you think that her dressing up as a male is very relevant to the plot then you have totally missed the whole focus of the storyline. The drama isn't about her trying to blend into society as a male, but is instead about her journey to growth. The crossdressing is merely a plot device that allows her a somewhat easier route to her path.
Just finished my second re-watching of this series, what am I going to do now? Li Change is such a strong and…
I really enjoyed reading your summary and analysis of Chang Ge and A'Sun's characters. Similar to you, I have been a long time fan of Dilraba, however none of her past dramas have awed me the way that TLB has. This is my first time watching Leo, I was blown away by his performance despite my former doubts of him being unable to perform the role. He has now climbed up the list to being my most favorite Chinese actor.
TLB is a great drama because it has so many aspects we don't usually see in other dramas. For example, you had pointed out how strong of a character Li Chang Ge is, as well as what a perfect male lead A'Sun is, and I completely agree. Their relationship isn't toxic or one sided, you can clearly how much love and respect they both have for each other, and it's absolutely beautiful. This is a rare drama where you root for both leads separately as much as you would root for them when they are together. I'm so glad to see that so many are appreciating what a great drama this is.
I'm surprised by how well this drama was received. I think it's a solid 7/10. However, I think it's mostly because…
Okay dude, I am going to try to answer your comment as neutrally as I possibly can. I actually lost brain cells reading your comment. It actually physically hurt me to read it. I get that not everyone has the same taste in which drama they like, but to call this drama poorly written is basically saying that you don't have the high IQ and EQ to understand the complexity of the plot and the characters. This drama has everything that makes it one of the best dramas ever created. The characters are well written, and most are well developed throughout the story. Not every character was completely evil, or were completely devoid of any flaws. What makes this drama so great is how layered the characters are especially the character of A'Sun and especially Chang Ge. It takes a great actor and actress to pull off these two characters and Leo and Dilraba had done a phenomenal job. The characters are well loved not only because of their drop dead good looks, but also because of their talent and phenomenal acting skills. If it weren't for Leo and Dilraba who had done such a wonderful job in portraying their characters, this drama wouldn't be as popular as it is.
The plot although had some minor flaws and plotholes was extremely engaging and spectacular, and you're able to notice more details with every rewatch. You said you watched this drama? From what I've read, it appears that you have not watched it at all, because even if you didn't like the storyline, there is no way one could watch this drama and say that the acting is horrible. This drama has some of the best acting that I've ever seen from any drama I've ever watched. The nuances and micro expressions done by the main and even supporting cast has left me speechless on multiple occasions. Not only that but the whole soundtrack is amazing, where it had come to a point where I listen to it on a daily basis, and I still do now.
And I'm sorry, but have you forgotten that this is a drama? Who cares if Chang Ge doesn't look like a man, that's not even the main focus of the story. If it were, then this would be a whole different discussion, and you would be making a valid point. However, in this case you're not, and instead you just sound like a unsatisfied toddler who seems to be dissatisfied with everything, and nitpick at every little thing you can think of. Besides the point, Dilraba although did not look like a man, she had acted out the role of a man very well. There are many other dramas where the girl also cross dresses and looks even less of a man than Dilraba does, and their acting definitely isn't as good as hers either. So why don't you take your comment and go to those comment sections and type out your dissatisfaction instead of ruining it for the rest of us fans.
I do agree with you that within the past few years, there have been a lack of good dramas being released, however, amongst them, The Long Ballad is an absolute GEM. The last time I have enjoyed a Chinese drama this much was Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, but The Long Ballad is so much better in ways that I can't even explain with all the words that I have in my vocabulary. But if I were to explain, I could go on for days about how much I love this drama and how amazing it is. Your rating of the drama does not give it justice, and I apologize if I sound a little harsh. But to be fair, you were kinda asking for it when you voiced out your baseless criticisms when instead, you could've kept it to yourself and not discredit the hard work of this team and its crew and actors.
she did amazing with the crying scene for A'Dou's death (on par with Leo's ep 25) and then she also has great…
I totally agree haha. He was probably hating himself on the inside for making her suffer so much. But alas he had to do so in order to make it believable and reasonable for his soldiers to agree :,)
she did amazing with the crying scene for A'Dou's death (on par with Leo's ep 25) and then she also has great…
I like how we both felt differently for the snow walk scene, which is totally fine because I also felt in awe of Chang Ge in that scene. However, for me, the feeling of sadness seemed to take over. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the fact that I tend to associate snow scenes in drama as sad scenes, or the fact that I was still recovering from A'Dou's and Gongsun couple's death. I felt the difference could maybe be that I had viewed that scene in Chang Ge's perspective and had placed myself in her shoes. On the other hand, you could've been watching it from a third person's perspective and took in everything from the scene. I strongly agree though, that that scene does indeed invoke a feeling of awe and admiration that I have for Chang Ge.
Indeed, Reba's best scene. She had portrayed such a wide range of expressions within one scene. I really hope she wins an award for this role, and same for Leo, because they both. deserve it. This some of the best acting I've scene in a while!
I feel you! People associate acting as purely an explosion of emotions, but fail to realise that acting is also…
You are completely right. Even if we were to compare both actresses based on they crying scenes, I cannot comprehend how people still think that the better actress is Zhao Lusi after seeing Raba's acting in episodes 14 and 15. Like you said, they had probably not watched these scenes or they are just plain Zhao Lusi fans.
To be honest I do agree with you that the the plot did become weaker towards the end. The reason for me thinking…
Her character development is easier to see for the average viewer. But it is by far not the greatest one. Hao Du and Leyan although had great chemistry, their romance was confusing and didn't make sense. And I'd have to argue that although Mimi's death scene is sad, it doesn't beat A'Dou's death scene or the Gongsun Couple's death scene, which were two of Dilraba's most well acted scenes. But since you still think her acting is mediocre, maybe you haven't even watched those scenes.
To be honest I do agree with you that the the plot did become weaker towards the end. The reason for me thinking…
I have also seen Lusi's acting in her previous dramas. It's like I'm watching the same character... She has the same expressions and can only rely on her crying scenes.
Here in this comments section, we respect every viewer's opinion. Not sure if you noticed. There are 26000 plus…
From the way you talk, you probably just watched this drama for entertainment or you're just a Lusi fan, since it takes one with a higher IQ and EQ to understand the complexity of the plot as well as the characters of Chang Ge and A'Sun. Again, you didn't address any of my questions, and I want to know why you think the way you do. Did you even read my response? Or were there too many words for you to read and comprehend? What do you associate with as good acting? If it's based on crying scenes alone then I'm sorry to tell you that you have not the faintest idea of what the art of acting is all about.
Being a good actress isn't just about crying well, there's so much more to that like the nuances and micro expressions of an actor/actress's face, and the way that they're able to make you immersed into their character. That's how I feel when I see Leo and Raba act. They understand their roles and became their characters. As for Zhao Lusi, she performed great in her role, but it'd be more puzzling if she didn't since the character of Leyan is pretty easy to play. Any other actress could've taken on the role of Leyan and they would've performed great as well. But one must be an exceptional actress and actor to portray the complex and layered characters of A'Sun and especially Chang Ge, which is why Leo and Raba were perfect for their roles.

That’s so funny cause I also do that, and that is exactly how I would rank mine too lol. However, if we were to rank which scenes I cried the most in, it’d be: death of Gongsun couple, A’dou’s death, Mimi’s death. Gongsun couple’s death was just so heartbreaking since I was still recovering from A’Dou’s. Knowing that she had just lost A’dou and is doing everything she can to get revenge for him to only lose two more people who have treated her like family. She then had to accept the burden that she would have to give up Shouzhuo and be responsible for the people’s lives. Not to mention she was left with a huge question of what her Tao was. That episode tore my heart to pieces, and then the scene in the snow where she goes out to meet the Ashile army. She’s only a 15 year old girl who had gone through so much and was carrying such a huge burden all on her own.
I feel you! People associate acting as purely an explosion of emotions, but fail to realise that acting is also…
Another scene that really impressed me was in ep 14 when they were all at A'Dou's grave. The anguish and pain she felt for losing A'Dou was so evident on her face in the way that she clenches her jaw and tightly shuts her eyes. As she was reminiscing her memories with A'Dou we can really see the escalation in her emotions as she went from silently morning to then finally letting her tears fall. She was trying to be strong but still can't help but cry her heart out for A'Dou. And when she clenched her fists together while trying to hold back her tears and anger, that was so well acted. Finally that heartbreaking smile that she forced onto her face near the end of that scene broke my heart!
she did amazing with the crying scene for A'Dou's death (on par with Leo's ep 25) and then she also has great…
I honesty thought the crying scene for Mimi was very well done on her part despite like you said, the director not wanting to take the limelight away from Mujin and Mimi's goodbye. Here Chang Ge started off in disbelief as she tries to process the fact that Mimi was dying after having taken that arrow for her. She had managed to save A'Sun, but in the process she was gonna lose Mimi. Once Mimi died, her sorrow was clearly seen, however she was still holding back and was still kind of trying to remain strong. But once her eyes landed on A'Sun, that was when she finally let her walls down and broke down into his arms.
