Also the director is a famous award winning MOVIE director AND Author. Movie directors like to keep it compact and fast pace.
I prefer smaller number of episodes because dragging it with unnecessary romance and melo drama becomes dull and boring. I'm not fond of romance and I actively dislike melodrama.
