Okay, here I will explain again to my commentators, the honorable Phantaminum & disneyboot9.
First of all, would you guys read again and understand my review well. From the beginning I have mentioned that I have read the novel "The First Frost", and mentioned that the story is 'GOOD'.
But why do you both think that I gave a bad review because of the storyline? Why do you think that I only like stories without problems and romantic stories without sadness? Do you think I will watch a drama that I don't like the story after I read the novel? I like the story that's why I really look forward to the drama and my enthusiasm is very high, once again I explain that what disappointed me was not the story but as I explained in my review.
⭐ Before I discuss further, I apologize just to remind you that my POV comes from someone who has read the novel, you can't compare it with a POV like you two who only watched the drama (WHY? Because I have a comparative aspect, while you just swallow it raw).
1. 'Film DIRECTOR who also turned out to be the Screenwriter' @Phantaminum: It's true that drama adaptations are not required to follow the original story perfectly and the screenwriter has the right to change certain parts, but isn't he not allowed to change the original character of the main character? He made Wen Yi Fan's character into a very miserable and weak person who always avoids problems, even though her original character is a tough woman after growing up, he also made her always look like a stupid, shy, clumsy, and doesn't know what to do when she's around Sang Yan, she is not like that in the original novel (No matter how long I explain you won't understand before reading the novel, the point is he made Wen Yi Fan not like Wen Yi Fan, which should not be allowed in a drama adaptation). Do you know why Wen Yi Fan's life was made more miserable by adding unnecessary stories? It's not to improve the quality of the drama as you said, but to increase the number of episodes. There are countless unimportant plots changes (only people who have read the novel can understand) that screenwriters create just to increase the number of episodes and make the drama boring. This is what makes a huge difference with 'Ou Si Jia' the screenwriter of Hidden Love (FYI, the screenwriter of Hidden Love and The First Frost are different, which I just found out when I was looking for the reason why the drama was so bad) who made an 85 chapter novel into a 25 episode drama, while Chu Yu Ning made the same 85 chapter novel into 32 episodes, i don't mind if he wants to extend the story as long as it leads to a better story, but the result...
❤️ Ou Si Jia Did you know that the drama version of Hidden Love is better than the novel version? This is what I call a good screenwriter, she managed to visualize the story from the novel very well, if you ask: Did she make changes to the story? The answer is "Yes" and she even brought it to a better perspective. 👍 This is what I mean by the aspect of why Hidden Love is better than The First Frost: HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER SCREENWRITER.
*@Phantaminum, I saw that you just reviewed with a high rating one of Ou Si Jia's works, "The Best Thing". Do you realize that these two dramas "The First Frost" and "The Best Thing" are related to "Hidden Love"? One is a spin-off of "Hidden Love", the other is a screenwriter of "Hidden Love" and they aired in a slot that could be said to be almost the same because they ended only one day apart, it could be said that the dramas compete with each other. I don't know which one you prefer between the two dramas, because you only reviewed one drama, while the other one, instead of reviewing the drama, you were busy reviewing my review. But if you were required to choose one drama, which drama would you choose? (Without prioritizing the storyline, and only looking at the acting of the main and supporting actors & chemistry). I don't know about you, I definitely chose "The Best Thing".
2. ACTING of the cast. @Phantaminum & disneyboot9: You both said that acting is subjective & personal, then why are you busy reviewing my review? Just a reminder, this is my review page, so I am free to express my opinion, if you disagree and want to review, please make your own review on your review page. As I have explained, my POV is the POV of someone who has read the novel, which I mention again will be very different from your POV. And from my POV, I see that Zhang Ruo Nan & Bai Jing Ting have not been able to act well according to the description of the novel, especially Bai Jing Ting. Zhang Ruo Nan actually played well, except for the scene with Sang Yan, which ended up dragging down her overall acting.
❤️ Hidden Love Cast Sorry if I compare it on a scale this big, but it cannot be denied, as a spin off of "Hidden Love", whether we realize it or not, we will compare it with "Hidden Love". I don't need to explain further, the comparison of their acting skills is already very clear, not only from the main cast, but also the supporting cast. 👍 This is what I mean by the aspect of why Hidden Love is better than The First Frost: HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER ACTING SKILLS.
3. CHEMISTRY & CINEMATOGRAPHY. @Phantaminum & disneyboot9: You both said chemistry is also individual & personal, then why are you busy reviewing my review again and again? Just make your own review on your review page.
Until the end of the episode, I still don't get chemistry from Sang Yan & Wen Shuang Jiang. They don't look like a couple who love each other, they look like two individuals acting to fall in love with each other. (Just a suspicion: Is Bai Jing Ting unable to act professionally and get into his role because he is in a relationship with Song Yi?)
@Phantaminum: For Cinematography, it is indeed the director and cinematographer's decision to make the drama look gloomy and dark, but it would be better if only certain parts were made like that, if from the beginning to the end the story is made gloomy, what does the cinematographer reflect and convey? The funeral? Even during the proposal scene, OMG... is there something wrong with the camera? Compare it with the proposal scene in "The Best Thing" which is also in the afternoon. Are you curious about a drama that has Good Cinematography? You've watched it... Yes, that's right, you can see it in "The Best Thing" (I even searched for who the cinematographer was because the cinematography was very beautiful from the beginning, which turned out to be the director himself 'Randy Che' whose early career began as a cinematographer before becoming a director).
❤️ Zhao Lu Si & Chen Zhe Yuan The chemistry between Sang Zhi & Duan Jia Xu, no words are needed to explain it (only blind people can't realize it). 👍 This is what I mean by the aspect of why Hidden Love is better than The First Frost: HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER CHEMISTRY.
⭐ THE FIRST FROST vs HIDDEN LOVE @Phantaminum The positive reviews received and the different ratings given to "The First Frost" may indeed be due to differences in taste, differences of opinion, and perhaps mostly because viewers did not read the novel. But I'm sure 99.99999999%, 88.88888888% (you might be one of the 11.11111112%) of the rating is influenced by the popularity of "Hidden Love". Where do you think the enthusiasm comes from? How can this drama be the highest reservation in Youku history? Reviewing too early on the first broadcast day which only showed 4 episodes?
I'm sure if this drama had no relation to "Hidden Love", the ratings people gave it wouldn't be that high, and the popularity wouldn't be that high either.
The last statement in my previous review which said: "What is clear is that this drama cannot be compared to "Hidden Love" which is perfect in all aspects." I'll say it again, and it's all a fact... HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER SCREENWRITER. HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER CAST & ACTING SKILLS. HIDDEN LOVE HAS A BETTER CHEMISTRY. And Everything Else is "BETTER".
There are only three things that "Hidden Love" lacks over "The First Frost" (which I don't know if it can be considered a flaw since you seem to like it so much): Less SUFFERING, Less TEARS and the Picture is Less DARK.
😎 @Phantaminum, you said "ao contrário de você, que tem gosto para dramas horríveis". Oh... Please, just because I like "Hidden Love" more, you judge that my taste in drama is bad? You will be cursed by all "Hidden Love" fans. Even if you remove all the aspects that I have praised, and only look at the STORYLINE (which you guys mentioned so much), I will still choose "Hidden Love", WHY? Come on, the majority of people in this world will prefer a cheerful story than a gloomy one. I'm not saying that I don't like sad stories, I'm just saying that I 'PREFER' happy stories if I have to choose between one. Unless I have to choose between a happy story with poor quality and a sad story with good quality, of course I choose a sad story but with good quality.
CLOSING... @Phantaminum: I appreciate you reviewing like a professional for the three points I mentioned, but unfortunately you misunderstood the contents of the review at the beginning and end, because you still think I'm comparing the storylines of "The First Frost" and "Hidden Love".
@disneyboot9: Sorry, actually I want to ignore your comment, because besides the content is not related to my review, but also because the content is like reviewing "Hidden Love" and sorry if I have to be honest 'the words are very messy, lots of typos, lack of punctuation'. Just because I'm replying to Phantaminum, so I'm replying to your comment too.
Lastly, I would like to thank Phantaminum & disneyboot9, I feel very honored because instead of the drama, you prefer to review my review, in the future before reviewing other people's reviews, it's a good idea to understand the contents of the review first, don't be mistaken like here again. I also apologize, if there are any words of mine that are not pleasing to your heart, peace from fellow drama lovers "K".
