Hello my dear readers 🤗 Like every week I will write my thoughts and assumptions about the new episode and I hope you like it!
First of all I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed this week. 😕 Episode 8 felt weak and I wasn’t as hyped as in the last episodes. It reminded me a bit of the feeling I had in the first two episodes. But like always I found things that I liked nonetheless. 😊
What I liked 💜 - I really like in this series that we get every episode something new, some unexpected plottwists or the murder case turns in a way I hadn’t expected. After each episode I get some answers to my question that I’ve had before but on the other hand there are also some new, unexpected questions added, even after episode 8. In this episode for example we have Champ who has apparently bought some drugs from Seon Jae, but is this only a coincidence and did he only buy some party drugs? But then we have suddeny Tonkla and his dorm involved and Tonkla wasn’t on my bingo card anymore as suspect after he has died some episodes ago. 😮 So why did they bring him back in the game now? - Then I like that the next episode often continues the last episode. That’s so rare in most of the series. There is often a time jump for example to the next morning/day even if there was a kind of emotional cliffhanger in the last episode. But in DYTD we get the continuation of the scene. For example, ep. 4 started with their kiss and their direct reaction to it, ep. 7 started after their “sexy sportive night” and ep. 8 started after their hug and with the revealing of Kamins past.👍🏻 - It’s natural that now the last three avengers don’t trust each other anymore. Champ asked Jay about the letters and even Cherreen asks Champ if he would kill her if the masked murder would tell him to do it. And Champ didn’t give a clear answer as always.😏 - Actually I don’t like the fact that Jade and Kamin are fighting and that Jade is sulking but I like that they show us the problems of a relationship between a boss and his subordinate who are boyfriends. - Some say that Kamin is so reserved and coldhearted but actually he is very mindful. Already in the first episode he invited Jade for a drink after solving their first case together because he has observed Jade in the bar that he likes to drink alcohol. And in ep 8 he came up with the boxing idea to make up with Jade when he is sulking because he knows that Jade likes to box. - Mirin and the other police girl (Manmai?) are representing us fangirls/-boys! 🤭 Does anybody know the actress of Manmai? Actually she has a bigger role than Sammy but she isn’t listed here in MDL.🤔 - Finally we get to see or beloved Sammy without a mask 😍😆 - The “I’m worried” theme is still a red thread in the series💜 - The Unalome Talisman with the wolf 🐺 and the fox 🦊 referring to JadeKamin was so cute 🥰 - Now Kamin had to give up his badge and is suspended from the case. 🙈 How will they continue to investigate? What will happen to Cherreen and Champ? Even if the writing is bad the series still manages to maintain the suspense!👍🏻
Favourite scene 😍 - I love the little bed scene where JadeKamin are cuddling 🥰 It reminds me of the scene in Hidden Agenda when Joke talks about Oxytocin and you can see how comfortable they are with each other💜 There are some people who say that they can’t see the chemistry between JoongDunk but I see it in so many scenes! For example, when they are sitting back to back and head to head it felt so natural and relaxed too💜
Place for improvement ☝🏻 - With only 42 min it’s the shortest episode so far and I fear that the next episodes might be under 40min 😒 … And in these 42min there are the previous part, the intro, the preview and the end credits included… I feel robbed! 😤 The episodes are too short and end in a blink of an eye…😑 Someone else in the comment section already mentioned that they should have added more episodes or at least they should have made proper episodes around 50-60minutes where they could have fit in a proper investigation and deeper characters with proper dialogues (and at least one hot NC scene which is longer than a few seconds for my yearning BL heart 😩😇) - Perhaps this is only a personal preference but I don’t like these slow-motion-kisses with nearly no lip-movement. 😕 JoongDunk have already proved that they could deliver really hot kisses in Hidden Agenda and The Heartkillers 🥵 but most of the kisses here gave me… nothing. 😕 No butterflies… just a simple lip-touching. It’s kind of sad because they could kiss with so much passion! They don’t have to eat each other like in The Heartkillers but a little bit more passion would be nice… But I think that’s a director choice again. - Dunks new Song for the OST wasn’t honoured enough in this episode. I didn’t even recognize it during my first watch🙈 - Finally we got Kamins background story but somehow… it felt poorly. 😐 Somehow I’ve had expected more after that we were kept in suspense for such a long time. The flashback was really short and badly executed. And was it only a “general” subordinate or did Kamin have a closer relationship to Jack who has died? - All the people who were shot in this episode (except Seon Jae) were immediately dead without a scream or twitch. 😅 It felt unnatural. They were falling like bowling pins😅 - And why did they run to catch Seon Jae without any bulletproof vests?🤦🏻♀️ - Like I’ve already mentioned, the chemistry between Joong and Dunk is there but every time you could really feel the sizzling in their looks or acting the directors says “Nope, that’s enough romantic feeling. Let’s move on to the next scene.” 😩 Unlike some other people here who say that there is too much romance in this series I would like to have more or better said: I like to have proper written romantic scenes with proper kisses or cuddling etc and not all the little scenes which felt cut off.
Regarding the murder case 🔪 - So Champ had to drug Cherreen and take her to a certain location. But who has drugged Champ? Was it Cherreen? And how? - In Fais body wasn’t found any ketamine … But is she really dead? 🤨 - Because Dr. Puth reacts very suspiciously when Kamin asked him to transfer the corpse. He hesitated. It would confirm my theory right from the start that Puifai isn’t dead.☝🏻 - Another evidence would be that there were two people standing next to the broken car and the other person behind the masked one is a woman… Could it really be Dr. Puth and Fai? But how is their connection? - Next episode Jay will finally get his Truth or Dare letter… well actually it’s a XXL “letter” written on Bed sheets covering half of the house … Does it mean that Jay is actually the biggest asshole of the whole avengers group?😳😱 - And after watching the preview we can now be pretty sure that Puth is the one wearing the mask. Some say that this has killed their suspense but even if I (might) know now who the killer is I have still no clue why he (and Puifai) did that, what’s their motive and how they are related? - Which roles did Tonkla play? Like I’ve already mentioned his name is back in the game. Was his dorm really a drug-dealer-place? 🧐 - Did Cherreen really only received the Truth Letter or didn’t she talk about the Dare letter because it’s written there what she had to do with Jay or Champ?🧐 - What do you think? Have Cherreen and Champ to kill each other in the next episode? 😳 When it follows the previous murders, the murderer waits until both are awake again and they will die at the beginning of next episode. - Every episode the mask gets “cuter” somehow! 😍😅 The first time the eyes were red crosses, then it went green until the cute circles last time and in the preview we see a bright white face with a big kiss-mouth 💋… Does it mean something?
Further open questions❓ - Why didn’t Commander Don intervene when Champs dad gave Kamin a slap in the face? 😡 Yes, he might be afraid of the dad but he shouldn’t allow to hurt another police officer right in front of him!😤 - Will Champs dad come back and ask for Kamins help when he founds out that Champ went missing? 😒 - What did they show us in the car behind Champs seat? I couldn’t see it clearly. Was it a weapon or something for the gas which tranquilized Champ or was it a GPS sensor?
What makes me sad 😢 - Commander Don said that a “foreign-educated” police officer doesn’t fit here. Somehow this line hit me hard. It felt a bit racist.🙁 - It’s really sad that Kamin gets punished because he sticks by his own ideology of justice and he doesn’t want to give in to powerful people.😞 - The tension after the boxing-make-up really felt like a make-up-kiss but we were robbed again and furthermore we didn’t even get the promised make-up-kiss/-sex in the evening😩 - Kamin had to hand over his CDI badge. With this he has given in their little photo-sticker in the badge too!😢
Fun fact 😆 - It’s the first episode of the entire series where we didn’t get a shirtless Joong! 😅 (only in the preview for next episode but this doesn’t really count)
Funny scenes 🤣 - The way Boom descends the stairs was somehow strange😅 - Dunk as housewife with a duster wasn’t on my bingo card for this year 🤣

I really feel sad for JoongDunk. First they had so many problems regarding the change of the production team and the director, then GMMTV didn’t promote the series well so that Joong had to make some BTS videos during the Qs and came up with the whole DYTD posters everywhere idea. And even now GMMTV treats JoongDunk like their unloved children. It’s the 2nd time that there were no subs added to their Reaction videos on youtube and even one week later they haven’t added the English subs for their international fans although it’s written in the thumbnail. 😡 They simply don’t care. JoongDunk really deserve better! 💜

Hmmm, for me it's not modelling and i reslly loved him as Style in THK! I think it's great when actors try new characters. Dao and Zo were very simlar and i'm a bit disappointed that he will go back to his "university student" life in their next series. Perhaps Kamin might not be a good role for him but actually I like him here. Perhaps because it's a more mature role.
All in all I think the main problem is the bad writing, the bad cut and some director choices and not their acting.
Personally, i thinkt that the actors of Tar and Bell were the worst...

Yes, i have expected more from the first pilot trailer back in 2024. It was much darker and seemed more serious. But in the end it's a typical gmmtv show with lots of fluff and romance paired with some brutal murders 😅 you can't expect a serious series. For example in the heartkillers there were also many scenes where you would say 'damn they've commited a murder but didn't bring gloves' 🤦🏻♀️ So you need to accept the focus on the romance and not on a serious investigation case.
i don't think turning this into a bromance is the answer. honestly at this point i blame gmmtv for this becuase…
Actually... i missed the romance in GBYFD.... i think both series have a different focus. I like the romance in DYTD but yes if you expected a crime series with a romance side plot you might be disappointed.

He might not be the best actor, but i think he does a good job portraying Kamins stiff and reserved character. Perhaps the acting feels off for you because you can't connect with the character? But for me Jade felt off and i had to adjust myself to Jades character because he wasn't like that what I've expected.
