Don't watch it XD It's really a garbage drama and we all agree with this
BT, it's right down there with TRHC. The only difference is the good part of this series only ran up to about ep 10, while TRHC gave us 30 good episodes.
@LA_Drama Fan. After episode 32, I didn’t watch BAMR for two weeks. I then caught up on the next four episodes…
I hear you. I want to drop this show like a bad habit, but it's like watching a car accident on the freeway: you don't want to look, but you can't help yourself. I guess you can call it "Morbid Curiosity".
I really wish she'd have brought the leads together, as I do love their chemistry. The only highlight now for me is MaRi and her story (about to be ruined by BMJ) and the aunt/aspiring screenwriter, who's own arc has been hopelessly neglected by the writer - a shame as she and the brother/boyfriend also had good chemistry and a funny relationship. MaRi is such a unique character (I've never seen someone like her, with her challenges before) that I want to give props to the writer for including her.
And honestly, I knew this would be a mess of a series given the writer's history. It frustrates me to no end that almost ANYONE on this forum could have written a better storyline than we are getting. I keep asking myself, "What is her (the writers) agenda here???"
At least instead of redemption arcs I'm guessing we'll see prison time for : BMJ- Grand Larceny (Grandma's Gold theft); engaging in illegal gambling AK - Conspiracy to commit fraud (passing off her son as someone else's) AK Boyfriend - Conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder JD - Conspiracy to defame and defraud; stalking; assault
After watching that dumpster fire of Ep 42, I began to wonder if the writer is pranking us? Is this really just a parody of every other makjang drama ever made? All that's missing is a scene on a bridge.
What really made me think this was the weird background music: listen to the "happy" music played in the background of JD's "parents", and him, when he thinks about DR. It's totally out of place, right?
And look at the character of the series writer (Oh Kyung), who is probably the best-written of the side-characters involved (I am happy for this actress in getting a better role than she had in Unpredictable Family). Is the writer injecting herself into this series as a witness to the drama industry?
I am beginning to seriously think that this series is just an "Inside Joke" among those in the K-drama industry.
"even we could write better scenes"I was thinking that EXACTLY after watching 41. How bad is this writing??? The…
Waaaaay back in this forum, there is a series of posts about how KBS has decided to stop the 50-episode weekenders and shorten them to 30ish instead. The decision was about the same time as when this premiered, IIRC.
Note to self: this show is half palatable after two glasses of wine. Still dumb, but the ending gave me the feels.…
"even we could write better scenes"
I was thinking that EXACTLY after watching 41. How bad is this writing??? The guy gets hit by a car, has profuse bleeding from the head, and winds up with a tiny bandaid on his cheek?! I almost thought this was a parody. The idiot production team could have watched a few episodes of Bravo My Life to see a realistic approach to recovery from such an accident.
So, let's take a set of proven Main Leads, who have great chemistry and hardly ever put them together! What a great idea!
How this stupid show got the green-light is beyond me. The KBS exec who approved it should get sacked. At least we won't have to put up with 50 episode clunkers anymore after this fiasco.
I would have appreciated it if they moved it to more of a 'revenge' drama (slightly) with her getting even with her mom & JD and the media that ruined her life, with PS at her side helping her. But, whatever.
It really depends on the domestic audience and how they are reacting. In this case, I don't think so, since we haven't seen much of a change in the trajectory of the show since the premier episode. They pretty much lost me this weekend since they could have made the show much more enjoyable and interesting.
I know the adoption for PS was to string along the story but lord haven't they heard of a trust that they should…
All they had to do is tell his family they would like him to be MaRi's legal guardian if something happened to them. Upon her marriage, her husband would assume that role. That wouldn't have freaked his family out. PS is not qualified to take over as chairman of a major corporation anyways.
Coming off the 2-week break and ending the amnesia arc for the FL, they really had a chance to turn this series around and save it. The remaining 10 episodes could have covered her reclaiming her life and identity, reconciling with PS, and together having them get revenge on those who wronged them. Plus a little time to take care of MaRi and the chronically under-served Aunt & Older Brother couple.
But they blew this opportunity.
Now we get the FL acting scared and not embracing her love for PS, her horrible mother moving back in with her, the creepy JD acting even creepier, etc. And the cherry on top of this misery-fest is they send the WTOD (in this case a black sedan) after PS and put HIM in the hospital! I've lost count of how many times a character in this show was hospitalized...SIGH.
There's only 10 episodes left. Why not change things up and fix this mess?
Interesting, a pretty-much solid supporting cast, especially the elders. Lots of KBS stalwarts from daily and weekend dramas too.
Interesting to see SeungJu from CLOY as the ML. I do like the shorter number of episodes, KBS has proven that their weekenders can't keep up with 50 episodes...the quality of the writing just isn't there anymore. If 'Its Beautiful Now', 'Three Bold Siblings' and 'The Real Has Come' had been trimmed to their 30-36 best eps, they'd have been great.
Ep 39 was a pretty good episode except for BMJ's constant screeching. WTH? Why is this veteran actress overacting so badly? That voice was like nails-on-a-chalkboard to my ears.
This drama focusing on everything other than building any meaningful love story btw ml and fl.They definitely…
Agreed! KBS's weekend dramas drive me crazy: Both '3 Bold Siblings' and "The Real has Come' had little to zero chemistry between the main leads. And here, we have leads with pretty good chemistry (IMO) and they spend almost all their time apart!
EPIC. That one word summarizes everything about this series. Even after 4 years, it still deserves being in the running for G.O.A.T. of K-dramas. What strikes me the most is almost every episode had an iconic scene that I still want to go back and watch. I know 'Queen of Tears' is nipping on it's heels, and I'll watch that soon, but I need something light and fluffy after this to clear my mind and heart.
I don't think KBS America was ever going to sync up with their domestic counterpart. They always have their own…
What's odd is that they actually DID in the last Historical Drama they aired, which was a first for me (this was the weekend prime-time slot). The downside was that they didn't sub it, which makes no sense for the KBS America feed.
Well, FWIW, KBS America had a golden opportunity to sync it's broadcasts of this with the domestic feed, but no....instead they are informing us of a 2 week hiatus during which they are rerunning "Becky's Back" (a 4-part miniseries). So they are committed to keeping the 2 week lag in this series broadcast.

Did I leave anyone out? (LOL)
